UMNO and its rational leader

A friend who campaigned rigorously in Tenang for the BN told me he has to play host most of the times. I hope UMNO will not let this victory go to its head. They need to compare the votes they got in 2008 with what they got now. Its majority increased by a little more than 300 votes. That doesn't matter though because a victory is a victory by any other name.
But to read more into this marginal increase, is a big mistake. UMNO's support, despite the millions poured in, remained more or less the same. PAS of course, suffered more in the sense the deficit they got now has widened.
The flood was actually a godsend for UMNO. SPR needs to answer whether use of their facilities to transport flood victims was applied in a fair manner. But I think this aspect must be argued by the other side. As for me, I am more concerned not to let this minor victory be an excuse for UMNO to stop doing reforms.
Let's discuss another matter. Lee Kuan Yew's recent book, Hard Truths. In there, he said many bad things about Dr Mahathir, about Islam and about Malays in general. But these were not paid attention to by the MSM. They were more interested to extract any broad-brush by Lee Kuan Yew imputing some positiveness about Najib. Malaysians love to hate LKY but if you get some compliments from him, LKY is your hero.
Hence the hungry Press which holds no good feelings about Lee Kuan Yew, blared the headlines that LKY thinks Najib is a rational leader. I don't understand the MSM's love hate relationship with LKY. Undeniably they can't dismiss LKY because that man is acknowledged by the world. Malaysia will stand out as a prick, if it doesn't join in the general salutations of LKY.
The Press would love to needle LKY on any issues. But this time, its LKY's approval of Najib as a rational leader that is being headlined. That would have been met with universal nod, if not for the fact, the MSM failed to qualify in what context is Najib a rational leader?
I mean the MSM people are myopic to ignore the fact, that Najib's rationality as a leader is a qualified statement. That term used, needed to be expanded.
In what sense, can Najib be regarded as a rational leader? Unluckily for the MSM people, there are many of us who also read the book. By the way- I would love to see how the MSM would respond when LKY said- on page 86:-
.their press has lost credibility. The position of the media on television and print was so divorced from reality that people look for alternative channels. So bloggers, Malaysiakini, Harakah, opposition newspapers fill up the space.
These form 5 journalists think we the public don't read books or what?
Please wait for my next article on Najib, the rational leader.

Dato' Sak,
In any propaganda, you select the points that are complementary to your course and ignore those that aren't. LKY is smart enough to compliment his nearest neighbor's leader as his country stands to benefit more if he has one that can be held to ransom should the need arise. Anyway just like any legal document, who is going to read those points under fine prints? Only a few will bother to scrutinize them and discern the subtle yet meaningful nuances.
Pak Tua.

the chinese in singapore can not blast firecrackers for New Year. They cross to this side of the world to burn. You cannot litter the streets there. You shouldn't spit on the floor..Lee Kuan Yew disciplined them. Have they changed ? See their behaviour once they are in Johore.
How else Singapore gained Pulau Batu Putih and KTM land and water agreement for the next 100 years in their favour ?
Khazanah always invest only after Singapore has made its rounds of profit and later sell to Khazanah.
Our UMNO leaders are working hard for Singapore to praise them.

Anonymous,  31 January 2011 at 21:14

I remember some years ago an Australian leader called Mahathir 'recalcitrant' and you know what happened.
The media went berserk. UMNO went berserk. The TVs went berserk.
Practically every UMNO leader had his say.
Compare that with what LKY wrote in his book.
But he was forgiven just because he had something good to say about UMNO's godhead.

Little wonder , the Bumi's in UMNO just cannot match the intellectual finesse of the Singapore Chinese in practically all fields, except of course in corruption and fake religiosity.

Anonymous,  31 January 2011 at 21:20

LKY positive comments on Najib was deliberately done to counter his negative views and absorb the ensuing repercussions.

He knows the UMNO hound dogs would not go after him since he had already thrown some crumbs before they charged at him.
He knows UMNO's propensity to flattery.
The wiseman defeated the fools.

Quiet Despair,  31 January 2011 at 22:20

Do we expect LKY to laud us? Do we really need his praise, no matter if he is world acknowledged?
If the praise comes from Obama, at least we can be proud of it.
Who is LKY but a former CM of a small state in then Malaya, gifted on a silver platter by Tunku.
Some detest Tun M for being a dictator who is the champion of ketuanan Melayu.
LKY is equally a dictator who is champion of the ketuanan China. Also disliked but clandestinely by some of his people. Same difference.
They both have not forgotten their past bickerings. Hence LKY's badmouthing of Dr M,Islam and us Malays.
Tun M has replied to him, equally nasty. Tit for tat.
However you are right to say Malaysians (Malays that is) love to hate LKY. And of course LKY is a hero to many including in your blog who thinks Singapore is heaven.
LKY is not everyone's hero even if if he praises Malaysia sky-high.
It gives me red ears to hear people singing praises Singapore this and that.
Not going to repeat what Umar said earlier about the Red Dot people.
Please read Temasik Review on what a great country Singapore is.
Typical of LKY to make a vague and luke-warm comment on Najib being a rational leader.
It's not the press is not paying attention. It's about the press searching for a positive angle to avert war of words between leaders of both countries.
But they qualified it with the blah, blahs LKY said about Najib's rationality.
And it's so laughable that Harry Lee chose to smack our press as having lost credibility. He's really hairy yeah.
What about the Singapore ST and the New Nation?
Worse than our MSM. its only about Hien loong and his so-called band of smart men.
And they too have anti-Govt bloggers to fill up the space they lack where the opposition is non-existent.
And you were bad in degrading our journalists as Form Five school leavers.
Most are degree holders. At least they are more credible than some bloggers who picked up the MSM news and manufacture and spin fake news to suit their political masters.
Aside from you and five others, I read other blogs for laughs and entertainment.
Mind you even housewives now want to be political bloggers! And do we have to believe them?

DS,

YB KJ also rational leader. Young, but best voice and ideas in UMNO 2nd to PM. Thats the truth.

Winners and Losers in Tenang,

Winner = Ustaz Muhyddin and Losers = Tenang voters. He is more interested in winning than to be concerned about the residents being displaced by flood. If I am a voter, I wont give a damn to the BUY-ELECTION.

Why can't they postpone the by-election ? It is same thing when those pupils having to sit for their SPM and SRP in flood. MOE's standard reply that the examination will be carried out is inhumane.

Lastly, I have yet to hear that good education system is an election issue. Ultimately, that will be the determinant to bridging the gap between rich and poor !

LKY betul buang tabiat tu.Ajal dah nak sampai.
This is his last punch before his demise.
It is about him venting his hatred and damaged ego.
No matter how powerful he has and had been, he was sacked out of Malaysia to run a puny little island which must stay relevant to the world with ever changing new and creative gimmicks.
Singapore today has become a big fair ground to entertain the inhabitants and it's visitors.
Visitors go there to gawk at the peculiar lifestyles of the inhabitants and their regimented stiffness.
Their sanitized life is more likened to one that is being punished to detention class in school for misbehaving.
Singapore can be totally ignored by the rest of the world and it wouldn't change or hurt a bit.
It truly is one man's legacy to the world...SINGAPORE IS A TEMPLATE.

Dato,
What LKY said was right."Islam is not a progressive religion" Before you jump up, stay calm and see what is happening in Tunisia and Egypt.
They saw the good life enjoyed by the tourists. They just wanted some of it and I think they are entitled to it. I was once in Tunisia for holiday and the porters fought each other just to earn 2 dinars. At least 90% of Muslim countries are corrupt and unstable. The next one to happen could be Libya, Syria and probably Iran.
So why and what is the common factor? Islam of course.
Muslim must find the answer to this so that future generation could look to brighter future. Is Islam the obstacle to better future?

Dato' Sak

This game of one-upmanship with Singapore does not mean anything to us, the ordinary people, Dato'. To these two despots this is nothing but some sick bragging rights. Because of this silly childish games, most Malaysians are living on debts so that some minorities can flaunt their wealth. To RT Hon. Tun, I just hope he can someday stops being a politician and start being a statesman.

Dato Sakm,

Anonymous,  1 February 2011 at 09:15

When LKY "slapped" you in the face, you took it as a praise. Still remember a quote in China by a Chinese minister to Hishamuddin regarding his wielding of the keris...same slapped in the face yet Hishamuddin didn't realise it. Very telling of the intellect of our BN ministers.

Anonymous,  1 February 2011 at 09:35

Sak,
LKY ai'nt an idiot and his book bare the truth and nothing but the truth about bolehlandIt is his book from his years of experiences of facing the facets of life including others religious beliefs.Islam eluded him and kept him guessing thats all.
Here we have TDM whinning , but ask ourselves what was his result of his polycies? We are in hell today because of him and tell you this truth nothing is gonna change. We are just part of his corrupted mess and reforms you are hoping is not the magic bullets for cure.
No matter what that red dot is still a class above us!
By the way Quiet Despair, they dont need praises from OBAMA.Their Int'l passport is highly respected with no visas needed for entry to Big Apple like Japan. Will bolehland see the day? Thats the difference between LKY and TDM.

kee 1 February 2011 at 10:18

'Quiet Despair' who wrote: "Who is LKY but a former CM of a small state in then Malaya" (perhaps he does not know history and actually meant 'Malaysia' because S'pore was never a state, either a small or a big one, of then 'Malaya') must be very young. Either not yet born when Malaysia was formed or was still in primary school.

If 'Quiet Despair' was already a matured adult then, he would have known that during the time of 'then Malaysia' (not Malaya), when a person (myself included)told someone in some other part of the world that he was a Malaysian, a common reaction would have been "Where is Malaysia?" When the Malaysian tried to explain that Malaysia was south of Thailand and near Indonesia, the next common reaction would have been "Oh! Is Malaysia part of Singapore, where Lee Kuan Yew is your Prime Minister?"

That was then. Today Lee Kuan Yew is no more the PM of Singapore. He has demoted himself to being just a minister, although some kind of Minister Mentor, and Singapore has been reduced from being a small state to a tiny red dot. But still, if one goes round the world and conduct a survey, one would discover that more people are aware of and familiar with the existence of Lee Kuan Yew and the tiny red dot than that of Malaysia and Najib, notwithstanding the fame of Altantunya.

Therefore I simply fail to understand why people like 'Quiet Despair' persists in making disparaging remarks about Singapore being small or being just a mere tiny red dot. Don't you people realise that physical size doesn't always matter?

"Quiet Despair' also took SAK to task for "degrading our journalists as Form Five school leavers" and stressed that "Most (our journalists) are degree holders." He needs to improve his understanding of the English language.

Bongek,  1 February 2011 at 10:34

Dato'
I am sure you are familiar with "bogey man" strategy. This is very frequently used by LKY as and when he need his country man to behave in a way he wanted it to be. He is calling his country man to to reminded of sieged mentality that Singapore is a small country surrounded by muslim Malays. This is election year in Singapore.

I am not reading too much as this is just a political game. Singapore have LKY and we have TDM. I am not surprise if both are good friend at personal level. In fact I am happy both this is true.
Your analysis of Tenang seemed to be very simplistic and I can see that you are disappointed with the results. I am not sure what are you hoping for. I am sure that you will agree with me that to postphone the election will be a disaster as the establishment will be accused of denying the opposition victory. The people of Tenang must be congratulated for exercising their civic duty in a very challenging situation. Democracy is very much alive in this country. We don't have to insult the people of Tenang simply because we think we are clever than them.

Viva Tenang!!!

Queit Despair,

Another one sided posting comparing LKY to a PM of a small state. Hahahaha, you said it, he is only a former PM of a small country but a very successful rich country with no natural resources!

And being from a tiny little dot, yet LKY's status globally is far far way beyond any of yours can even smell to reach his foot or toe.

Of course you are furious and jealous for we all know never in your lifetime you can even come close to what he had achieved.

Yes, we all agree he is very authoritarian too but somehow unlike those authoritarians like Saddam Hussein, Mobarak, Stalin... he was clean and cared really for his country and people.

That perhaps is the only way to discipline a fractious multiracial country. Do you hear any useless grumblings even by minorities (e.g. Malays) there? Compare this to Malaysia... it is the majority (who practically controls almost about every sectors of government/GLCs, armed forces etc etc etc etc etc) are still complaining for their own weaknesses.

Sorry lah , Queit Despair, Sorry for you. You will be in despair for the rest of your life so long as Singapore exists.. and that, dude, will be forever.

One thing I can challenge you. Bring forth one area of that Singapore loses to Malaysia... and let me dispute you(which I know before you reply ... you cannot)
Not for heavens' save who can spend money using foreign tech to build the tallest building in Asia e.g.
or your TDM friend wanting to build the tallest tower in Langkawi.

LOL... sour grapes.

Greenbottle 1 February 2011 at 14:07

AA at 6.47... it's stupid motherfuckers like you that gets people like me riled up...i don't know what you believe in..maybe you worship something under a rock, or pray to a jew or whatever the fuck you worship but that's your business...

the problem with people like you is that you're retarded and myopic...the advance of human material life has nothing to do with religion per se... in fact if truth be told it is because advance countries don't give a shit about their stupid religions that they advanced in material world now...look at japan, or europe or even usa...

those that give a shit about christianity for example are basket cases like muslim countries...look at the philippines or those african basket cases...similarly for other religions look at nepal (buddhist) or most part of India (hindus)...

and by the way singapre is not modern just because the chinese there put some cheap oranges to placate their tok kong....get fucking real you asshole...

Dato,

Ironically the US admin faced similar predicament with regards to situation in Egypt.

US is torn either to continue supporting Egypt Pres which its people call him dictator or with the people of Egypt who ask Hosni to step down which make US closest ally Israel very nervous.

Mahathir is a crafty old man. He has the art of diverting focus away from his failures.
If Singapore Malays are being marginalized, then Malay Malaysians are worse off than them.
Let's face it. Admit the sorry state the rural Malay Tuans are in today.

They set up illegal warongs on government land, conduct small business at pasar malams. Employed as security guards, garbage collectors, factory workers, receptionists, private clinic nurses, civil servants and young men roam around as mat rempits.
Is this all UMNO can do for them after 53 years of defending Malay rights?

Quiet Despair,  1 February 2011 at 21:58

Anon 11.55

There you are. Your double standard is showing.
To you it's okay for Harry to be authoritarian to discipline a fractious multi-racial country.
But it's a no-no for Mahathir.
We are worse than fractious now with you demanding this and that in the name of 1Malaysia.
Name me five Singaporean Malay millionaire and I will name you 10 Malaysian Chinese billionaire.
Whoa, crafty yah this Ketuanan China Singapore leader.
Generally, the Chinese in Malaysia are much more prosperous than the average Singaporean Malay.
Our leaders cannot be like LKY because the Chinese will whine and complain.Remember that you will be running to CSL to lodge your protests which you may hate now.
It's easy for LKY because Malays are basically meek, submissive and always regard that what they get is their lot in life determine by Allah.
Jealous and furious? Why should I be. I do not want to be a robotic society where I must only swot, work and not given a voice. One day even my breathing may be regulated.
Lucky for you too, to be living in good old Malaysia where the Greater KL city will be 4 times bigger than Singapore.
It's realy suffocating to live in an island where you go round and round and you came to the same spot.
We welome Singaporeans to invest in properties here and also doing what they can't like chewing bubble-gum in our MRT.
Malaysia is a good place for them to let off steam like dump their rubbish, spit and showing their kiasuness.

Anonymous,  1 February 2011 at 22:52

aiyah, this old man will never forget that he was booted out of Malaysia by a MALAY

cried on tv pouring his heart out coz his dream of being a pm of Malaysia was dashed

americans think he is a leader of a small state in china

hahaha, some lickers think he is accredited by the world???

whenever people read ure articles,it sometimes comes out as odd and irrational seeing the fact that u said UMNO has to go outside and cast its net to get a PTD officer,i think this so called PTD officer's family founded the small town called tenang, ask the local people the wil tell u for sure,so until then, dont speculate nonsense, and the factor of winnable candidate is very much alive in tenang by election

Sir,

It is Islam in the present form that has caused a lot of hardship to muslims in Islamic countries. It is that plain and simple though stating it plainly is not very nice.

For Greenbottle & Quiet Despair,

Muslims inbreeding has been going on for 1400 years due to Islam!
[Corruption & poverty can be easily ractified]

Muslims victims of inbreeding due to marriage to first cousins:

This practice, which has been prohibited in the Judeo-Christian tradition since the days of Moses, was sanctioned by Muhammad and has been going on now for 50 generations (1,400 years) in the Muslim world.

This practice of inbreeding will never go away in the Muslim world since Muhammad is the ultimate example and authority on all matters, including marriage.

The massive inbreeding in Muslim culture may well have done virtually irreversible damage to the Muslim gene pool, including extensive damage to its intelligence, sanity, and health.

According to Sennels, half of all Muslims in the world are inbred. In Pakistan , the numbers approach 70%. Even in England , more than half of Pakistani immigrants are married to their first cousins, and in Denmark the number of inbred Pakistani immigrants is around 40%.

The numbers are equally devastating in other important Muslim countries: 67% in Saudi Arabia , 64% in Jordan and Kuwait , 63% in Sudan , 60% in Iraq , and 54% in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar .

Lowered intellectual capacity is another devastating consequence of Muslim marriage inbreeding. According to Sennels, research shows that children of consanguinous marriages lose 10-16 points off their IQ and that social abilities develop much slower in inbred babies.

The risk of having an IQ lower than 70, the official demarcation for being classified as "retarded," increases by an astonishing 400 percent among children of cousin marriages.
Sennels points out the difficulties this creates for Muslims seeking to succeed in the West. "A lower IQ, together with a religion that denounces critical thinking, surely makes it harder for many Muslims to have success in our high-tech knowledge societies."

Only nine Muslims have ever won a Nobel Prize, and five of those were for the Peace Prize. According to Nature magazine, Muslim countries produce less than 10 percent of the world's average when it comes to scientific research.

Learning ability is severely affected as well. Studies indicated that 64% of school children with Arabic parents are still illiterate after 10 years in the Danish school system. The immigrant drop-out rate in Danish high schools is twice that of the native-born.

Mental illness is also a product. The closer the blood relative, the higher the risk of schizophrenic illness. The increased risk of insanity may explain why more than 40% of the patients in Denmark 's biggest ward for clinically insane criminals have an immigrant background.

There is no doubt that the wide spread tradition of first cousin marriages among Muslims has harmed the gene pool among Muslims. Because Muslims' religious beliefs prohibit marrying non-Muslims and thus prevents them from adding fresh genetic material to their population, the genetic damage done to their gene pool since their prophet allowed first cousin marriages 1,400 years ago are most likely massive. (This has produced) overwhelming direct and indirect human and societal conseqences.
