Yes Prime Minister: The Cabinet Appointment (1)

I don't want to descend into the world of small boys to engage in petty arguments. Accordingly I will not dignify the many childish and mentally challenged comments in my previous two blogs. These are normally the people who come out with one or two liners believing themselves to be legends in their own myopic space.

I have indeed made some criticisms on TDM and the reactions can only be termed as schizophrenic and bordering on irrational paranoia. Worse things have been said of TDM and yet I didn't see the testicular fortitude to verbally assault those attackers of TDM with the vehemence that is now visited upon me. Such behaviour can only be termed as UMNO cannibalism.

I departed from the norm by allowing myself the luxury of using a profanity term. That was my response to this vermin who keeps insisting that I am a paid writer of KJ. That is one too many. The stupid jerk deserved what was said to him.

I am repeating here again, for the umpteenth time, I have never met KJ in person and I am not sure if KJ knows how I looked like.

I was among the few bloggers in UMNO who supported KJ throughout his quest for the Ketua Pemuda post. He won it despite the rumpus and continuing McCarthyite witch-hunt that is still going on. Unfortunately and sadly, the crucifixion of KJ is presided over by their High Priest in the form of the venerable TDM.

Very early on I have said the battle is within the UMNO family. When KJ won, I did not even make a post exclaiming bragging rights or disparaging the losers. We moved on to the other things. When KJ won, if anyone cares to look up my blog, there wasn't any posting that nose thumped the losers. I was always mindful the losers are still UMNO members.

But the losers did not want to move on. They kept coming on to denigrate and threw vitriolic projectiles at KJ and those who supported him. That is a blatantly stupid and divisive behaviour. They forget that we are still UMNO members. Yet the way they treat their opponents makes the PR people say, with UMNO members like this, we don't need to have enemies. Let UMNO kill off each other.

This winner-take-all leave- no-prisoners mentality is still seen today. When the new cabinet came into being today, and KJ's name wasn't there, Mukhriz's supporters were thrown into an orgy of shark-like feeding frenzy.

Yesterday, I wrote the appointment to public office is the absolute prerogative of the PM. KJ's appointment or exclusion is not relevant to me. I was rooting for him to win the ketua Pemuda post. Admittedly if he had been appointed to the cabinet that appointment would be a sweet thing. Be he wasn't selected and all I can say is, too bad. He is still in fact, the ketua Pemuda. He is still what Mukhriz isn't.

Since you have thrown the cudgel at me, I shall oblige by saying something on Mukhriz. Please don't lecture me on how saintly Mukhriz is and all those crap. The fact that he wasn't hauled up by the UMNO DB proves nothing other than showing he has been crafty and more cunning than those caught out.

I have said earlier, that if the only criterion to become inducted into Najib's team is an unblemished moral record, no one deserves to be in the cabinet.

I shall offer Mukhriz Mahathir no congratulations because he remains to me, the most hypocritical and shamefaced liar. Wasn't he the one who went on record as saying that if he had won the ketua Pemuda post; he will refuse a cabinet appointment? If in triumph he would not want a post, there is an even stronger supposition to expect that he wouldn't want a post, now that he has lost.

So, his appointment is no big deal but instead his appointment and acceptance is a crowning shame to the hypocrisy within.

Wait for my analysis on the cabinet line up.

I beg to differ, u did insinuate mm as a sissy in ur previous articles after the umno elections.
In this article pulak, u travelled the same road as those anti kj factions by disparaging mukhriz.
Take the high road pls.
U should know that most anti kj or pro mukhriz ppl have never even met mukhriz nor kj.
Its not mukhriz who wrote all the kutukan towards u here.
But here u r, directly abusing mukhriz. He too is from umno. U pun umno sama.
Why nak belasah mukhriz just because a few kids stepping on ur nerves?
Whatever u said in the 2nd half of ur article completely negated the niceties u tried to expouse in the first half.
We old people always maintain our cool and principles. See who will suffer the brunt of our writings. In this article, u completely smashed mukhriz.
Just because u could not control ur anger towards ppl not related to him. He is not responsible to what is going on here.
I doubt he even takes notice of the comment section.
And since u also do not know KJ personally, I doubt he reads this blog too. Just because a few kids wrote what they think abt both of those young leadersn does not give you the right to criticise unfairly.
I notice that it is always mukhriz who suffers from ur writing after u were being heckled by the readers here.
This should stop. Umno cannot afford to be further divided. We mature people needs to be 'redha' towards fate.
On that note, I implore both sides of the factions to cease fire. This is not the time to show partisanship.
But we must always be wary of the opposition who will try to inflame sentiments for us to fight each other.
Mukhriz and KJ merely a small part of the larger entity. It is that entity we should try to save. That entity is Malaysia. Umno and BN are only enablers to save this entity.
God bless us all.

Reverse Psychology Ka Dato?,  9 April 2009 at 22:08

Salam Dato' Sak,

I don't think you would care even to read my posting, the way you are shooting out the AK47 in this very posting. Anyway, as I'm already on the mound, please let me continue my batting.

I would say that let bygones be bygones. Yang menang tak menang semuanya dan yang kalah tak kalah semuanya. KJ got what he yearned for and Mukhriz got compensated. KJ got post and Mukhriz got post, that's spade for spade.Brilliant piece by the new PM.

As are the cases with Dato' Shazi,Husni, Dr. Awang Adek....
Najib gain more by appointing those without party post to the executive pinnacles.

The logic for Najib is to keep members with Party post busy with political elements rather than have them doubled up as government servants, to keep the governing away from politics so to speak.

Plus Najib really have to strengthen his grasp within UMNO which antagonizing the feisty Former PM No.4 will not augur well for him.

By spreading party and governments posts more evenly, Najib will reap wider support.

Scenario will be that Najib sits on the Cabinet Chairmanship and UMNO supreme councils looking at different faces.

Anyway, with your insightful view I was hoping to read more of separation of politics from executive from you which I think Najib is espousing more in light of continuous thrashing at the ballot boxes. The days of overly mixing politics in governance are over and Najib realize this.

In conclusion, I am of the opinion that those cabinet appointments by PM today is evidence that we are going to see more and more brilliant moves from the New PM.

Ok Dato', was good to drop by. Best regard to Mamasita.

Tq.

fazilogic 9 April 2009 at 22:15

Dato' Sak,

Have Mukhriz criticised you personally? Ain't Mukhriz is an UMNO member still?

One other thing, you intentionally undermined the reason why Mukhriz said what he said he'd refused a cabinet position should he won the KP post. It is clear that with that KP post he wanted to focus to strengthen the Pemuda organisation and grass-root movement.

Now that the majority of Pemuda reps have rejected him, it is only wise and proper for Najib to romp him in for what Mukhriz has in his potential.

What more when Najib has taken into account the fact that Mukhriz is (relatively) cleaner vis-a-vis KJ in the eyes of the larger part of UMNO members and the general public. To regain the confidence of the public, it is only proper for Najib to pick Mukhriz (and even NKP Razali) as compared to KJ (whom the DB has adjudged to be involved in money politics).

You keep on bragging that your critics are insane, when you yourself has proven you have failed to be rational in your conclusions.

Even your almost-perfect English can't do the defence to your faults.

Salam Tok.
Whenever you write something tukang kutuk tu bukan main ramai.Just toughen up and don't bother! You are a nobody. These 'smart alecs' will always side the great TDM and MM.
Never forget that you takde harta and pangkat macam MM.Jadi sedaplah orang nak tibai you selalu!
Just keep on writing sincerely. Thats you!

Ariff Sabri 9 April 2009 at 22:37

see what i mean?
3/4 of this article is devoted to crticising the approach taken by the mukriz boys. none answered.

one quarter touching on what Mukhriz actually said and to which i am taking him to task, stated in the manner i am expressing it, lo and behold, its considered sacrilegious. mak datuk!

and the last one is even more terror- having failed to answer the issues here, it went to the jugular by patronising my English Language.ini yang di kata sokong membawa rebah

Anon 10:39,  9 April 2009 at 22:48

I am the fool you're pissed with. Just coz KJ is not invited into cabinet, you don't have to unleash your anger on Mukhriz. To quote:

I shall offer Mukhriz Mahathir no congratulations because he remains to me, the most hypocritical and shamefaced liar. Wasn't he the one who went on record as saying that if he had won the ketua Pemuda post; he will refuse a cabinet appointment?

Where is your so-called objectivity? Your vindictive persona is too obvious. No wonder you're being critical of Najib.

I am no great fan of Mukhriz but look! He didnt lie. Why the spin ...

If in triumph he would not want a post, there is an even stronger supposition to expect that he wouldn't want a post, now that he has lost.

The fancy English doesn't hide your shallow logic. Its like your repeated argument of Mukhriz being son of an ex PM and KJ is not.

Mukhriz is called to serve the nation. Why should he refuse? Is it a criteria to have a position in UMNO to hold a post in UMNO?

By that logic, you suffer from the regressive thinking you seldom accuse your detractors off.

Thus, do stop talking as though your ideas are progressive. Frankly you are just another typical hypocritical politician flip flop their stance and logic from one logic to another to suit your purpose.

KJ has taken this well but the Setiakawan bloggers are still sore over this. Do I take it that KJ is being hypocritical too?

I'll give KJ the benefit of the doubt. Usually its the supporters and paid workers that gets worked up. Just like Mukhriz and Khir Toyo's supporters cheering KJ as corrupt.

If you are so unhappy, my suggestion to you is register another political party. Call it the Parti SUKJ 2009. Members will be those anti Najib and pro-KJ Pemuda, particularly the 304 Pemuda voters of KJ. I am sure Kj is willing to finance. Duit dia banyak lagi.

As someone liberally inclined and not diammetrically different from Anwar Ibrahim, you can rely on him to stage manage another gempak announcement.

In case, you're gonna return me with a nasty reply, I am not commenting to answer you but just to whack your big ego and KJ-like arrogance.

Ariff Sabri 9 April 2009 at 22:59

anon 22:48
who cares for yr high horse pontificating? ah so-- Mukhriz is called to serve the nation that's why he couldn't refuse. if he had won, after saying he wouldn't want a post and despite that farcical declaration, will he use called to serve as an excuse to do a turnning over?
how do you then distinguish the same being called to serve under 2 differing scenario?
you cant.
now how does being critical of Najib figure into this argument? i havent said anything critical yet.

Anonymous,  9 April 2009 at 23:16

Sak,

You can't win and you won't until Mahathir is gone. Same goes for KJ. Your critics will always equate bashing Mukhriz to criticising Mahathir. You know this well from comments made on your previous articles on Mahathir. So why waste your time. Most people who would like to see some semblance of sanity in the so- called democratic society of ours are just waiting for that old man to pass on. I for one would not cry nor forgive come that day.

TDM shd listen to Simple Plan:

There you go
You're always so right
It's all a big show
It's all about you

You think you know
What everyone needs
You always take time
To criticize me

It seems like everyday
I make mistakes
I just can't get it right
It's like i'm the one
You love to hate
But not today

So Shut up Shut up Shut up
Don't wanna hear it
Get out Get out Get out
Get out of my way
Step up Step up Step up
You'll never stop me
Nothing you say today
Is gonna bring me down

There you go
You never ask why
It's all a big lie
Whatever you do

You think you're special
But I know and I know and I know
and we know
that you're not

You're always there to point out
my mistakes
and shove them in my face
It's like i'm the one you love to hate
But not today

So Shut up Shut up Shut up
Don't wanna hear it
Get out Get out Get out
Get out of my way
Step up Step up Step Up
You'll never stop me
Nothing you say today
is gonna bring me down

Don't tell me who i should be
and don't try to tell me what's right for me
Don't tell me what i should
I don't wanna waste my time
I'll watch you fade away

So Shut up Shut up Shut up
Don't wanna hear it
Get out Get out Get out
Get out of my way
Step up Step up Step Up
You'll never stop me
Nothing you say today
is gonna bring me down

Our PM need not be the smartest, brainiest and intelligent man in the country.
Likewise the cabinet.
The basic qualification to be appointed to the cabinet,I presume is 21 years minimum, not a certified lunatic and no adjudged criminal record.

Cabinet post is also not given as a gladiatorial reward for killing the lions. Thus you do not even have to be in politics to be in the cabinet.

Acceptance of a cabinet by the PEOPLE is also not critical for successful governance.

Seriously, one would be hard pressed to conjure better names than the ones DS Najib chose within the constraints of having to satisfy all intersted and influential factions.

Just a thot >>can DS Najib legally appoint Nizar,Lim Kit Siang,Hadi as well?

ipv6 10 April 2009 at 00:26

Wasn't he the one who went on record as saying that if he had won the ketua Pemuda post; he will refuse a cabinet appointment? If in triumph he would not want a post, there is an even stronger supposition to expect that he wouldn't want a post, now that he has lost.

Well I'm not a big fan of TDM nor I fancy his son MM, but if memory serve me right, MM say so coz he says, he'll going all out as Ketua Pemuda to campaign and bring back what ever has been taint, damage if not lost in the yesteryear's flip-flot and strange policies and what has not! Therefore he refuse a cabinet appointment as to channel all his energy toward the KP and his constituency.

But then since the perwakilan choose other people for the job then, he's indeed open for anything then ketua pemuda post right?

ipv6 10 April 2009 at 00:29

*he's indeed open for anything than ketua pemuda post right?

And please don't ever mention how clean Mukhriz is. I have this bizarre wish. Those that seriously believe Mukhriz is a saint, I hope your computer will blow up in your face...

Spot on Dato'. let's just move on to something else more productive. To keep on debating about KJ and Mukhriz is just a waste of time where the time and energy should or could be used to fight against common enemy - PR!

It's just sad to see that even after losing the by-elections we're still dwelling into petty issues like this. Heck, even DAP and PAS are showing better sense of unity nowadays. Malulah.

BCTan266 10 April 2009 at 01:18

Dear Sak,

I have always enjoyed your perceptive observations and straight talk. Good to have a blogger like you around.

Now, about DS Najib's cabinet. I think it is a major let down. At this rate, his grand promise of reform will soon lose its shine. And hope for integrity and political decency will soon be buried. Oh, so soon.

Capitulating to TDM he is. No use denying. Squeaking in MM's son, MM at the expense of KJ; and keeping Nor Yaakob and Chee Heong in Finance are just a few signs that say DS Najib is not his own man. What a waste really it is to accord this high office to someone so lowly in courage and lacking in (to borrow Zorro's phrase) testicular fortitude!

Earlier, by bringing the octogenarian like the all conquering Caesar to the two hills on the eve the by-elections was poor judgment and perhaps more attributable to the virus responsible for debilitating spinelessnessism in the presence of TDM. Even I knew it'd backfire having TDM at the two Bukits. What were those UMNO dullards thinking? When voters embraced Pak Lah in 2004, it was not because if his charm alone. Sheesh.

Anonymous,  10 April 2009 at 01:20

Will some one say whether the cabinet is a clean one, whether the unclean fellows DSN selected he can't do without, whether he should outsourced a few good Malays from outside UMNO, whether with that line up he can effectively control corruption and repair UMNO's image?

I have my doubts but then I'm not as well informed and analytical as some of you people are. I would appreciate your opinions on those. Thank you.

Ree,  10 April 2009 at 03:48

One thing I am not happy with this Cabinet is Najib retaining the FM post. Malaysia needs a full time PM and a full time FM.

These are both tough jobs. The difficult economic climate requires a FM focused on the job. Someone senior enough and smart enough. Probably like Mustapha Mohamad.

Najib can then focus on his 1 Malaysia plan. Bringing the people together and providing guidance to all.

By wearing two hats, I am afraid he will fail to do a good job for both. Mark my words.

Anonymous,  10 April 2009 at 07:01

''The fact that he wasn't hauled up by the UMNO DB proves nothing other than showing he has been crafty and more cunning than those caught out.''

Please provide evidence on your indirect accusation of Mukhriz money politics.

Following your trademark line of reasoning, I can say KJ is raping 12 year olds from various pre-schools in Malaysia. The reason he did not get caught like Rahim Thamby is because he has been ''crafty and more cunning'' than Rahim.... Boleh cakap macam ini? Mr. Sakmongkol, you're putting a face to your blog, so be more responsible and stop bashing Tun Mahathir and Mukhriz out of frustration.

Ariff Sabri 10 April 2009 at 07:45

Malaysia seems to be copying Singapore.

SG has a Minister Mentor. Malaysia as a Minister Mentor as well but TDM does not want to admit to it. I suppose he can't bear to admit LKY was the smarter of them two. LKY did the right thing from the beginning when he decided to step laterally instead of down.

SG has One people, One nation, One Singapore. Malaysia has 1Malaysia.

Will Najib KPI cabinet? SG loves KPI.

TDM worked himself into a frenzy with KJ's imaginary link to SG. Eeerr.... who turning the country into SG now?

I suppose LKY must be basking in the sunlight. Imitation is the sincerest flattery!

Mamak Bendahara? Ngkau sayang Mukriz sebab boleh dapat macam2 naaa!

Fellas

I feel we should put a stop to vilifying and maligning KJ.
He has already eaten humb;e pie. He's learning to be humble and already trying to make nice.
Look at his Ketua Pemuda victory speech when he tried his best to close ranks with Mukhriz.
And he has already accepted Najib's decision not to include him in the Cabinet.
Must we begrudge him for marrying a PM's daughter, having an Oxford degree and a diplomat's son.
Maybe he appears arrogant at the start of his career and gets your goat.
But oh forgive the young for he knows not what's good for him.
But one good point for him is he's not a hypocrite.
We should also wish Mukriz well and live up to his father's name and reputation.
He's rather cunning in not resigning when his parents and brothers resign from Umno.
But he followed through his father's call for Tun Abdullah to step down early.
I think this made him lost the Umno youth race.
Played his cards right and now a deputy minister.
Datuk Sak, if it's not ambition what is.

I noticed that we as Malaysian people always had an argument about who is right and who is wrong.

NOBODY is perfects, everyone knows that right??

So if you think you really good and not a CORRUPTED PEOPLE, move on and join the goverment(UMNO,BN,MIC,MCA or else).
Prove to others that you work for RAKYAT MALAYSIA not for MONEY.

To Dato' SAK, keep on your brave writing.
