Pontification by an ecclesiastical warlord. Sotoloyo series no 7
1. 2 statements made by 2 extreme right wing parties ought to concern us .
2. One uses religion to hide it's cleverly disguised racism. The other uses temporal nationalism to articulate its overt racism.
3. Both banal and boring statements superseded only by their stupidity and inanity.
4. The first made by an MP who is a member of the ecclesiastical dictatorship party- PAS. Which fails to hide it's despicable racism.
5. He ferociously and vociferously say it's unconscionable for a Muslim institution like TH to give it's business to a non Muslim company.
6. He further says TH doesn't appreciate the aspirations of the millions of depositors with th.
7. Is he implying the depositors are as racist as he is?
8. Doesn't he sound sanctimonious and pompously pious?
9. Who is he to say TH must do business with a particular race with a particular religion?
10. Would it make economic sense and therefore rational if TH were to accept a higher bid because it's made by a Malay and a Muslim company?
11. This is what is wrong with these ecclesiastical warlords. They think the religious credentials and religious appearance entitle them to speak on matters in which they have scant knowledge .
12. WTF gave him the authority to speak on the aspirations of the people? Why should his own version of what he thinks are the aspirations actually reflect what are the people's?
13. That's very presumptuous and cocky of him.
14. The aspirations of the people are very basic and perfectly rational.
15. Which is to be assured that the principal deposits they put in remain intact and the dividends accruing to them are maximum .
16. Over the years the losses incurred by TH are worrying, giving the depositors cause to worry .
17. Losses incurred through profligate spending, careless investments and unchecked corruption.
18. Don't say like that. It's a sin. You will go to hell.
19. The people at TH are malay and Muslims. Surely they don't inflict injury on fellow Malay and Muslims?
20. Bollocks! Didn't in circa 1927,the great Malay thinker, Zaaba warned us that the most repressive and most oppressive and most exploitative towards the Malay, are people from their own kind?
21. Therefore, the insistence (implied) that the rebranding project of TH should be given to a Malay company is much overrated.
22. Generally speaking, we are tired of the presumption that a Malay wouldn't harm other Malay and Malay leaders are out there to protect the race. Balls!
23. Indeed, for the first time maybe, TH made a business decision, economic and a rational one.
24. It chose the company that bidded the cheapest and gave the best proposal . 25. It selected 20m over say
25 or 30m because it's rational. The latter bids may have arised because of cooked up numbers including perhaps kickbacks to seemingly appearing pious officers.
26. Near my hometown of Kuantan is a fishing village called Tanjung Lumpur. In the village presently, there is the village great mosque. Constructed of timber.
27. The design was done by a Chinese architect. Certainly not a Malay and not a Muslim. The actual construction may have been done by a company supervised by him too
28. The people deciding on the construcion of the mosque were not constrained by the requirement that the mosque must be designed and built by a Malay and a Muslim.
29. They decided on the basis of business, economic and rational reasons.
30. The decided on the basis of cheapest tender bid and on the best aesthetics.
31. Not complicated on the insistence that it must be a Malay and a Muslim and certainly not a kopiah wearing member of the ecclesiastical dictators party .
32. This is the problem with many of us Malays. We think these people speak the words of God and be expected to follow blindly what they say. We became unquestioning subservients.
33. But we fail to recognize that the narratives of these people are the narrative of mere mortals.
34. Which means the narratives can be questioned, debated, disputed and be subject to critical thinking.
35. But we don't or feel guilty if we do so. We fear of being branded , irreligious or even heathens.
36. What the PAS MP is doing and done by people like him is just gaslighting.
37. Playing up on our emotions and our guilty feelings of lackings of religious learnings and therefore responding by unquestioningly following what the pied Piper plays .
38. The ecclesiastical jerk has since upped the ante.
39. He has since said it's a right for a Malay and Muslim company to get business from TH.
40. He's simply wrong. A right is a qualifed, fought for, struggled for privilege, entitlement or achievement.
41. Not something unqualified for or given free on account of similar skin color or religion.
42. The Malay Muslim company just want TH to give the business to it on account of having the same skin color and religion.
43. Not by competing in terms of price, competence, work record, experience and a better mouse trap in the form of its proposal.
44. It competes but lost. What to do? That's how the cookie crumbles .
45. The lesson? Avoid pas like the plague. Their people may speak the words of God sometimes but for the most part, their prognoses on temporal affairs are damn lousy.
46. Stay away from them. If you disagree with them, they will pompously recite the Qunut Nazilah!
