Elementary pak tani maths. Tales by an unknown blogger no. 58
1. Padi farmers know some maths. Maybe they don't know of the sophisticated maths. Their maths, denominated in money terms they sure know.
2. Let's call this Pak tani maths. Mat sabu should learn this maths. When he announced the new floor price at 1500, it's clear he's deficient in pak tani maths. His officers advising him are not clever either
3. The Pak Tani 1 ton is 800kg not 1000kg. That's because the mills deduct 200kg considered bad padi- broken rice, bugs , fungus etc.
4. At 1300 floor price or 1.3 per kg, the farmer getsb1040 per pak tani ton. He gets 50 sen subsidy per kg. That's 400. His total income is 1440.
5. Hence at a floor price of 1300, the farmer gets an extra 140. That includes the subsidy per kg.
6. At the floor price of 1500, he gets 1.5 x 800=1200. Plus the subsidy of 400, he gets 1600.
7. How come at floor price of 1300, he gets an extra 140 but at the floor price of 1500, he gets 100?
8. Tablay itu maciam, tamby dei
9. That means at the floor price of 1500 announced by thicky mat shabu2, much of the gain goes to the mills. Don't care Chinese or Malay owned .
10. That means, you must choose a floor price, where more of the gains go the farmers. Obviously little thought goes to setting the floor price of 1500. Boloh!
11. The floor price must be between 1600 to 1800.in order to help farmers.
12. Besides choosing the right floor price, field officers at MOA must actually go down to the padi fields and think of ways to raise farmers income.
13. In the meantime, mat shabu2 and MOA officers must learn some pak tani maths!
