Will DAP dominate PR?

A close UMNO friend asked me this question. If PR takes over, wouldn’t it lead to DAP dominance over PR? Wouldn’t the Chinese be in control? Just take the example of Nizar when he became MB of Perak by courtesy of DAP.  He has given out land to the Chinese because DAP must have pressured him to.

DAP has become the favorite bogeyman that must be attacked from all possible angles. Lim Kit Siang was behind the May 13 incidents ignoring the records which showed that Kit Siang was in Sabah at that time. Lim Guan Eng who was 8 years old at that time, was also instrumental in creating the racial clashes. DAP has never detached itself as a proxy to Singapore’s PAP. The list of wrongs is seemingly bottomless. And now, a specter is haunting Malaysia. The DAP shall dominate PR government.

I have long wanted to answer this anxiety. Apparently this is the propaganda being sold by UMNO leaders all over the country. It’s simply called scare mongering. It indicates that UMNO is scared. Its other component party members which are essentially stooges of UMNO are now irrelevant.  It has also shown that UMNO now realizes it can lose power.

Let us dispel the myths before we answer as to what Nizar has actually done.

First of all, DAP will probably contest 52-53 parliamentary seats. Even if it wins all, the number is not sufficient to allow DAP to form a government on its own. It will become a formidable force. And that is not because the members are Chinese. It becomes formidable because it has so many high quality MPs.

Non DAP will still dominate the numbers. So, forming a government with DAP dominating is out of the question. Why should any Malay fear DAP dominance? Only mediocre UMNO leaders do. The good Malays in PKR and certainly the very able people in PAS can stand as equals to DAP legislators. But these Malays don’t quarrel with DAP people on trivial things like low quality UMNO MPs.

The area in which DAP has dominated appears to be in the intensity of their resolve to fight for causes. Why should that be feared? It must be emulated. Can’t UMNO offer the voters higher caliber people who can walk and chew gum at the same time? Instead it takes the populist approach choosing people whom it sees as winnable and armed probably with fake degrees they bought.

The other big issue I wish to address is this. The same friend asked. Wouldn’t it be like what happened in Perak- Nizar became a front for DAP and he has only implemented policies that benefited Chinese in Perak.

Nizar governed Perak for a period of 11 months. He was kicked out of office by way of a coup detat involving also the Perak Royalty. We must now remember always, that people are always more sovereign than Kings and Rulers. I hope this is taken in good spirit. Nobody wants to demolish the Royal Houses provided there is mutual respect. The adulation and reverence of the people to the Royal Houses must be reciprocated with the utmost respect for their sovereign wishes. The overriding wish was to have a legitimately elected government which cannot be broken up with extra judicial means. Collectively the will of the people is as sovereign as the Malaysian Monarchy.

During the 11 months Nizar served as MB, his government approved 314 housing lots for Kampung Tersusun  and for 134 new villages. These lots were given out to applicants who have been waiting for over 30 years to get land titles.  These people were denied or refused approval by the UMNO/BN government. What is so difficult about giving out land titles? During by-elections, titles could be given in a week’s time.

95% of the residents in the kampong tersusun have been denied titles for over 30 years. All they asked was a housing lot of about 3200 square feet. So one can imagine how `big’ a house that can be constructed on such a lot size. The whole house is smaller than the bedroom size of some people I know.

How many of these were issued by Nizar?  He gave out 102,000 lots involving 7500 acres.  Most of these recipients were Malays. Again? To Malays.

What about the new villages or Kampung Baru? We know from experience most dwellers in Kampung Barus are Chinese. Indeed 97% of these are Chinese many of whom have not received titles for as long as 80 years. What’s the land sizes are they looking for? The average size is 1125 square feet (25’ x 45’). That is the size of a garage. 47,000 lots were issued to applicants involving 1250 acres.

Kampung Tersusun( the dwellers are mostly Malays) got 7500 acres while the Chinese new villagers got 1250 acres. If I were to ask an MCA friend citing the above examples, can he/she tell me, in giving out land for housing, which race has benefited more from Nizar’s actions? The Malays got more land, and the Malay has a bigger lot measuring 3200 square feet compared to the Chinese new villager who got 1125 square feet.

Did Nizar victimize the Perak Royal house as far as land is concerned?  Well, judge for yourself. During the tenure of a former UMNO MB, Ramli Ngah Talib, there was a verbal agreement to award the Perak King a land totaling 600 acres located in Tanjong Tualang. But the land was not transferred by the UMNO government.

This was what Nizar did.  His EXCO confirmed the verbal promise made earlier by an UMNO MB, to vest the land with the Perak King. The transfer of the title was made in the name of a nominee of the Perak King to one individual named Pak Tok Khair.  The nominee completed the transaction, paid the necessary premiums and the land was formally transferred.

What UMNO failed to do to the King, Nizar succeeded.

In another instance, a religious teacher who runs a religious school ( pondok) Tok Guru Pak Teh applied for land for cattle grazing in 2004. He applied for 45 acres. But each time his application was rejected by the UMNO government. Again what the UMNO government failed, the PR government under Nizar who was supposed to be dictated by DAP approved the 45 acres to the Tok Guru Pak Teh. To add security, the area was gazetted as grazing land for the benefit of POndok Tok Guru Pak Teh permanently. For that Nizar received a personal note of appreciation from the Tok Guru who has since passed away.

In addition, Nizar has approved small lost ranging from half an acre to 3 acres to operators of state land. The approval was justified on the grounds that the operators have worked the land for a very long time.

That was all Nizar did. UMNO goes to town accusing Nizar of selling out to the Chinese.

Now let us see what UMNO, the party that fights for Agama, Bangsa dan Negara did during their tenure. Let’s go back to see what UMNO did before PR took over Perak.

1.     22,000 acres belonging to PKNPk in  Lekir Manjong planted with oil palm were pledged to KLK which is owned Tan Sri Lee Oi Lean. He is a Chinese.

2.     500 hectares of Malay Reserve land in Padang Rengas (Nazri Tan Sri Aziz’s seat) together with a cement making factory jointly developed by PKNPk and Hanjoong of  Korea was sold to YTL. Now, the present Perak UMNO government is busy acquiring more Malay reserve land as they see fit.

3.     The UMNO government has given 1300 acres of land to Tan Sri Ling Liong Sik in Kampar to construct the biggest UTAR College.

4.     The UMNO government gave 15-30 acres to each farmer in the areas between Bikar and Bidor and Teluk Intan. Most of these farmers were Chinese farmers.

Now let’s see what Zambri did when he took over as MB. He sold off the Casuarina Hotel belonging to the state government within 2 months of assuming office. He sold it to the Perak Sultan’s son in law, Tengku Farouk for only RM48 million. Nizar has steadfastly refused to sell even when commanded by the Sultan. That hotel belongs to the state and the value of the strategically located land in terms of market price was then around RM94 million.

Under Zamry who has a Ph.D. in Islamic Studies, quarry land, timber concessions, mangrove concessions, are being distributed to UMNO cronies wantonly. It’s like there is no tomorrow for these people.

Zamry has approved 1100 acres to the Brazilan firm Vale, for the purposes of setting up an iron ore plant. The award was given when Zamry was in office.

Now, who has actually betrayed the Malays? UMNO or Nizar? UMNO has sold out to the Chinese more than anyone else can.

Mahathir's perverted logic: good material in, garbage out

Dr Mahathir is living in fear nowadays. He has to forsake his restful days to help out UMNO. Which means that Najib is incapable of leading UMNO. That can only be the most rational deduction.

He is now the torch bearer for UMNO. UMNO must be rational he says and he says that while cavorting with the most irrational UMNO surrogate, Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa. UMNO members must now support Ibrahim Ali if UMNO leaders choose Ibrahim as candidate in GE13. UMNO members must be rational to accept a most irrational Malay candidate. That’s the inverse logic of Mahathir. Good material in, garbage put. We know Dr Mahathir- he does the opposite of what he says.

Mahathir is urging Malays to stand on their heads. Not good, too much blood rushing to the brain. Malays must now stand upright naturally. Rejecting UMNO and its ways, is the rational behavior. Supporting UMNO goes against the rational.

UMNO can get 2/3 majority if its members do not sabotage candidates chosen by the leadership. He is just confirming that despite having 3.2 million members, it hasn’t got leadership talent. Hence his UMNO is full of half past six leaders. He is saying that in advance because he knows that Najib will field many non-UMNO members as candidates in the next election. We wish him and Najib good luck. After leading UMNO and its successor party for so long, both don’t seem to understand the UMNO Malay mind.

I am beginning to think that what Daim once told me will become true. Come nomination day, UMNO is 70% fit to do battle. Come election date, it has lost 30% of the seats.

Mahathir’s motives behind his overarching and at times forceful articulation on behalf of UMNO are irrelevant to us. Malaysians must remind him that in 2004, Pak Lah got the biggest mandate in history with courtesy from Mahathir. People gave Pak Lah the biggest mandate, because they were celebrating the exit of Mahathir. It wasn’t because of Pak Lah who in 2008 then led UMNO/BN to its most disastrous outing. Let us now do a second celebration to give Najib and UMNO its most crushing defeat.

He faces the grim prospects of seeing his UMNO dispatched in the coming general elections. For 22 years, UMNO and he became one. So at stake is actually his legacy.

I will not dispute the opinion of many that Mahathir is the best PM we have ever had. Perhaps people are mesmerized by his vision of a grandiose Malaysia. He was swilling to back up his vision by embarking on the grandest of physical developments. During his term of office, Malaysians marveled at Putrajaya, Daya Bumi, PETRONAS Twin towers, KLIA and many other monumental developments. Malaysia was flooded with first world facilities unrivalled by many countries in south East Asia. In the Muslim world, Mahathir was hailed a hero especially by the despotic rulers in many Arab speaking world.

From Mahathir they have learnt one object lesson-people can be deceived an comforted into submission by giving them illusions of greatness.

Given those physical achievements how do we rate Mahathir? Since this is a season of idioms and allegories, I would to share with readers a story.

It’s about a rich and powerful person. Let us call him Dr X.  While endowed in those areas, Dr X is a sickly person. Not a single month passes without him contacting and developing some debilitating illnesses. He has gone to the best hospitals and private clinics but to no avail. So he made a covenant with Allah, that if during 3 months, he is free from any illness, he will bestow a gift of a dwelling or its equivalent to orphans. A promise to Allah is a solemn one and our subject in this story knows that.

After the vow and promise, Dr X was free from all form of sickness and illness. Still to reinforce his belief that this has indeed been a miracle from God, he extended the trial period to another month. Even after varying the original covenant, the Dr X did not contact any illness.

He is now convinced that this was indeed a benediction from God. So he now must honor his part of the covenant.

So he started an advertisement to offer one of his palatial properties in the city. He offers for sale a property worth RM30 million with enough rooms and compound to potentially house an orphanage. He offers to sell the property for the sum of RM500, 000. With the provision that whoever buys the property at RM 500,000 must also buy an old cabinet inside the house for RM29.5 million. Therefore there were actually 2 items for sale. The house and the old cabinet. He found one serious willing buyer who duly signed the necessary papers buying the house and the cabinet.

In his own ways, Dr X is a sufficiently religious person.  He hasn’t forgotten his covenant with God. He takes RM500, 000 and hands over the money to the trustees of an orphanage entrusting them to use the money to build an orphanage. Dr X has therefore fulfilled his promise to God. Having done that, he still makes RM 29.5 million.

It’s true – Mahathir has given so many things that Malaysians can be proud of. The value of all those is RM500, 000. Mahathir has taken RM29.5 million.

DR Mahathir is busy nowadays giving MPs and ADUNs from the various states pep talks. Presumably he has been telling the UMNO legislators the same advise. Be rational. But he must not forget- every UMNO legislative member who attended the meetings with Mahathir at the Perdana Foundation, think and believe that they are as winnable as Najib and Muhyidin are.

SEMUA Rakyat pilih Malaysia dan SEMUA rakyat pilih Mengundi

Apabila saya berhenti seketika daripada menulis mengenai sekitar kenyataan Dr Mahathir, lebih baik pilih syaitan yang kita kenal daripada malaitkat yang kita tidak, ada seorang pengomen mengatakan saya menulis artikel lain sebagai penyelamat muka. Face saving gesture. Steady lah wok.  Perhaps you don’t have sufficient mental caliber yet.

Dr Mahathir kata dia hanya ada weak school certificate dan bukan lah cendekiawan. Itu pun sudah terror kerana ramai seperti saya, hanya lulus SA- Sekolah Atap.

Bosankan? Apabila orang mahu memenangi hujjah dengan berlagak hipokrit membangkitkan perasaan simpati dan bercakap dalam nada perli dan mengejek ngejek, itu menunjukkan bahawa dia tidak ada isi dan bahan untuk menyokong pandangan nya. Tapi itulah yang kita sudah lali dengan cara Dr Mahathir- mengejek, memerli, merendah diri secara artifisial dan sebagai nya.

Dan bila Dr Mahathir kata orang Melayu boleh menjadi bangsa yang terulung dalam dunia, saya sokong dan percaya. Dengan syarat kita buang UMNO dengan budaya menaungi dan membuli dan membudak budakkan orang Melayu.

Inginlah saya beritahu pembaca tersebut, tidak ada perkara seperti itu dalam kamus saya. Saya berhenti hanya untuk memecahkan kebosanan. Kalau kita bercakap mengenai perkara serupa berhari hari, tentulah kita bosan dan jemu kan?

Maka tulis yang lain sekejap. Kemudian saya akan kembali kepada tema yang serupa, kerena kemenangan keatas puak jahat mesti diulang ulangkan. Behenti sekejap, datang semula. Sebaik sahaja mereka ingat sudah selamat untuk mandi dalam laut, kita serang semula. Saya harap pengomen tersebut gets the drift.

Kerja2 mendedahkan kemungkaran kerajaan UMNO/BN tidak akan habis. Oleh yang demikian penulisan mengenai perkara tersebut tidak akan berhenti.

Lihat sebagai contoh, propaganda halus yang di jalankan oleh jentera media UMNO. Iklan dalam TV dan akhbar arusperdana yang mengistiharkan Saya Pilih Malaysia dan Saya Memilih Untuk Mengundi. Ini iklan yang membudakkan pemikiran bangsa Malaysia apatah lagi orang Melayu. Marilah kita mengingatkan orang UMNO, SEMUA rakyat memilih Malaysia dan SEMUA rakyat memilih untuk mengundi. Yang mahu kekal kuasa denan cara dictator dan yang enggan memerdekakan rakyat ialah puak UMNO. Puak UMNO kata mereka pilih Malaysia- yang mereka pilih ialah suatu Malaysia yang Fascist yang dikuasai oleh mereka. Bila puak UMNO kata mereka pilih mengundi, kalau boleh yang mengundi itu meraka mahukan terdiri semuanya dari  orang UMNO dan pendatang asing yang di meesegerakan kerakyatan mereka.

Inilah petanda sebuah kerajaan yang tidak bertangung jawab. Tidak pernah dalam sejarah kita bedepan dengan sebuah kerajaan yang amat hipokrit dan pembohong. UMNO/BN menjerit sana sini supaya rakyat Malaysia bersatu, tapi pada masa yang sama, menanam bibit2 perpecahan masyarakat.

Dengan menjadikan juribicara saya pilih Malaysia dan pilih pengundi beberapa orang penyokong UMNO/BN, apa gimik nya? Gimik nya ialah untuk memberitahu rakyat, manakala penyokon UMNO memilih cara demokrasi yakni melalui proses mengundi, ada golongan rakyat yang memilih jalan yang tidak demokratik.

Walhal yang tidak demokratik ialah UMNO. Apalah maksum dan mulia sangat gambar Najib dan Rosmah? Jika ia suatu kesalahan undang2, caj sahaja pesalah nya dalam mahkamah. Tapi jangan lupa caj juga mereka yang mengencing gambar Nik Aziz, Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, Haji Hadi dan pemimpin2 PR yang lain. Dalam negara yang bersopan dan beradab, ketua pembangkang yang diiktiraf oleh perlembagaan dan parlimen dihormati. Mari kita bertarung sebagai gentleman dan orang yang beradap bersopan.

Sejak bilakah UMNO merasakan bahawa mereka pemulia agama maka dengan itu tidak membenarkan orang lain menyalahgunakan masjid dan surau. Mengapa sebagai tindak balas, UMNO TIDAK menjalankan kegiatan mereka( tazkirah, ceramah) dalam surau dan masjid? Penggunaan masjid dan surau dalam bentuk tertentu, mestilah diimbangi oleh UMNO dengan penggunaan cara yang serupa. Kenapa UMNO tidak buat demikian dan tidak menyalak sana sini bagai anjing busuk kepala?

Agaknya, itulah sebab nya, negarawan kita, Dr Mahathir bekas PM dan pengasas UMNO baru pun menyertai iklan dalam TV menyatakan saya memilih mengundi. Realiti nya bukan Dr Mahathir seorang sahaja yang pilih mengundi. Dan pemilihan Dr Mahathir sebagai jurucakap saya pilih mengundi amat penuh ironi- sebab dialah presiden UMNO yang memberi undi bonus kepada presiden dan timbalan presiden UMNO yang menyebabkan penentangan terhadao dua kedudukan itu hampir mustahil.

Mahathir has always been a closet dicator. Semua boleh selagi ikut cakap nya. Kenapa harus bekas PM dan beberapa orang lain melakukan iklan mengingatkan rakyat untuk mengundi? Memang lah benar, semua rakyat Malaysia pilih jalan mengundi untuk memilih kerajaan yang mereka hendak. Dan adalah menjadi kebenaran juga bahawa semua rakyat Malaysia pilih untuk mengundi UMNO keluar.

Jadi jangan lah menepuk belakang tanda ucapan tahniah dengan menyangka bahawa Dr Mahathir dan beberapa orang yang ada dalam iklan itu sahaja yang memilih untuk mengundi. Semua rakyat akan turut memilih untuk mengundi dalam PRU yang ke 13 ini. kalau dijalankan pada bulan 11, maka jadilah seperti Daim bilang, 11 itu lambang 2 batu nisan diatas kuburan UMNO.

Choosing Sides

People of Malaysia will indeed have to choose. Stand on the side of the oppressors or the oppressed. Support the deceiver or the deceived. Support the corrupt and endorse the looting and the pillage of this country. all done in the name of Agama, Bangsa Dan Negara. Everything is justifiable because the perpetrators are Malays and forgetting the victims are in the majority also Malays.  pardon the government in shortchanging the Felda settlers giving them a measly 2.5% of the FGV shares while the bulk of the shares are hijacked by people who have no connection at all with Felda. Pardon UMNO because even though it allocates 2.5% to settlers and 3% to Felda employees, all is done in the name of Malays.

Ignore the fact that LCCT is going to cost close to RM 6billion instead of RM500 million if facilities for low cost airline are built northwards of the current KLIA instead of agreeing that the facilities be built on soft ground as proposed by the MAB?  Are people in the MAB making hay while the sun shines?

We keep quiet because it’s done by the current government which fights for Agama, Bangsa Dan Negara.

Then, does that mean, the agama of UMNO endorses corruption, pillage and looting? Does that also mean that bangsa permits UMNO to do all the transgressions? And does that mean, agama, bangsa of the Malays excuse the murder of a Mongolian because she is after all just a prostitute? And finally because it is done in the name and on behalf of negara which UMNO claims absolute ownership on, all of the above are excusable?

The recent spate of advertisements where various people say I chose Malaysia and I choose to vote are nothing more than self-serving vilest of propaganda. They are also self-congratulating. They seem to suggest that those who support the government choose to show the support through the voting process and those who do not, appear to be shown as people who want to change government through undemocratic means.

The purveyors of these dreadful advertisements have only shown political immaturity because such hoopla does not require subtle and sophisticated thinking. They require only emotion and self-praise, while the opposite requires analysis and thought, subordinating the emotions to the rational faculty. And we know the emotional faculties are more developed than the rational. When we look at the photos of people hailed as champions of I chose Malaysia campaign in the MSM papers, we know the nature of the faculties which they represent.

Liberalize the media and see what happens. Allow the free exchange of ideas and free flow of ideas so that people can judge for themselves.

So choose. Stand on the side of the bully or on the side of the marginalized and trampled on? The reality and truth is we can elect in a better government. We only ask the structures of government- the civil service, the judiciary, the law enforcers, other institutions to stop toadying up to UMNO. The structures of government serve the people. They remain intact if and when a new government takes over and the business of running a government does not end with the jettisoning of UMNO.

What does the expression loyal to the government of the day mean? This fallacy of loyal to the government has been perpetrated for so long that nobody inquires critically what the expression really mean. The expression loyal to the government of the day should not be literally translated. The thing that civil service should be loyal to is to the IDEA of the government of the day- not the actual government of the day. If the opposite is true, if the civil service is loyal to the actual government of the day instead of the idea, then, when UMNO loses, the government must resign.

Civil servants must be professional. If any member of the government chooses to be a partisan member of UMNO, he/she should resign immediately. The current Chief Secretary must resign voluntarily when the next government comes in.

UMNO realizes this. That is why it has gone on the rampage. They have used everything weapon in its arsenal- race, religion, rulers and riots. UMNO has unashamedly taken over the merdeka celebration. Because it has done that, it will now rue in its consequences.

We hardly see the Malaysian Flag being voluntarily hoisted and put up hinting at a broad rejection of UMNO’s conversion of a celebration that is owned by all Malaysians. The merdeka isn’t UMNO’s property to be shared.
