O Reformasi, reformasi, wherefore art thou reformasi? Reformasi and the law. Tales by an unknown blogger. No 90.

O Reformasi, reformasi wherefore art thou reformasi

Deny thy father and refuse thy name

Or if thou wilt not be my sworn love

I will no longer be a reformasi

1. Reformasi is drowned by ubiquitous madani. It's like the Galapagos tortoise. Big, bulky and slow.

2. If it's still around, it's like the snow leopard. Shy and elusive. Or in more modern terms, it's on the respiratory system.

3. It uses a ventilator. Or a CPAP machine.

4. Perhaps it's in comatose state. In tambun or sungai long. Perhaps in lembah patai or kulim. Even in pandan.

5. Reformasi, if it's still alive must be applied in earnest. Strike while the iron is hot.

6. It cannot wait for the alignment of the planets. There's no right time. The time is now. Procrastination is indeed the thief of time.

7. Don't say reformasi must be taken step by step, slowly and deliberate. Those are just excuses. Excuse expands so as to fill up time, is a variant of parkinson's 1st law.

8. Nowhere is reformasi more shy, reticent, timid, timorous, passsilonimous , lily-livered than in it's application to the law. The law like that said by a philosopher, is like a spider's web. The big flies get through, the small ones get caught.

9. It makes us want to say, the law is an ass. ' the first thing we do, is to kill the lawyers and judges. I am saying that figuratively, ok?

10. Where is the freaking reformasi state of mind, in the case of the man who committed the grandaddy of all theft? Yes it's naked theft. You know how UMNO people love anything prefixed with naked, right?

11. Instead we see an almost subservient and reverential 'surrender' to overrated due process and procedural niceties.

12. Crooks like Najib, Ismail and others suddenly have rights that must be defended. What about the rights of victims at large?

13. Najib already a convict for instance, walks into court in bespoke suits not prison garb, courtesy of thuggish looking Saifuddin. He's probably enjoying his solo sojourn at the Kajang spa resort, complete with all the creature comforts. He's making a mockery of our judicial system all because some people think he has rights. Those ascribed rights are bourgeois in nature and overly genteel.

14. A reformasi state of mind would put a stop to all these charades.

15. I am not a lawyer, but I liked it when Lord Denning says, my brother judges are interested in the technicalities of the law..I am interested in justice.
