Where is TRH's Afrika Korps?

German Panzer in North Africa

What would Montgomery be without his Grant Tank? What would Rommel be without his panzers and his Afrika Korps? What would Patton be without his Sherman tank?

The answer is: nothing.

By themselves, these men were military geniuses. But they cant win wars without the tanks by which they were famous for. Patton at the Battle of the Bulge, Rommel in North Africa and Monty at El Alamien.

However brilliant you are , you require the material to fight with.

Now, closer to home , Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah may be our Rommel, or Patton or Monty. On his own, he has the makings of a great leader.

But one needs application. Of his talents. You get application only if you have position.

TRH will realise that his person and reputation alone are not sufficient to win wars. He needs the material by which to go to battles. He needs to have his foot soldiers, doing work, going into the battlefield.

Without his panzer and Afrika Korps, without his Sherman tank or grant tanks, he cant possibly do a Bulge, or El Alamein or his African Blitzkrieg.

Yes Sir Mat,
You are 100 % right. TRH must first get rid of the clown John Phang... he is totally hopeless.

THE TANK.

TRH encircles himself with spent forces. they dont have a clue about giving a good fight.
sending smses all over, doing the reverse psychology thing, will not do.
send them out to pasture, Ku Li.

According to the last edition of the little black book of Malaysian politics, TRH will be antipodal to the other team of Najib-Muhyiddin-Mukhriz which is basically Najib-eTun in a two-horse government system.

If Umno doesn't change itself, at least two other states will go by then. Furthermore, the component parties of BN are restless, to say the least, so Najib-eTun, the new formation, must tread with fairer circumspection and a truer appreciation of the new dynamics today. The old way of raking race issues will only aggravate the situation and create even more division, the last thing needed in a recessive year.

The other half of the population can no longer be ignored on the excuse that an Umno strong for one will beat the Opposition because the very reason the Opposition grows is because the other half of the population has felt neglected.

There are other key issues.

For one, the use of misinformation and disinformation in the blogosphere that has been going on in the past two months can hit both ways. It is because the government and the main media are still the last sources of real information that the rakyat will ever believe in that the need to be completely transparent and accurate from now on, lucid even, cannot be more strongly stressed. The weakness of the incumbents is that they completely screw up the communication function. Wall-E the robot can do a better job just blinking its electronic eyes.

For two, the economy will be the main landscape determinant. When investments and savings dry up and jobs become scarcer and less secure in the face of rising costs, tempers will fray and judgement clouded. Tightening control just by saying it's for public order and national interest won't stick. In fact the reaction wil be magnified. When that happens, glocalization will be the last thing on peoples' minds so no manifesto will matter.

BN in general, Umno in specific particular (;P), stands at the last tipping point. The situation has become such that the very factor of BN's past success - division of labour by race - will become the same factor of BN's future failure.

Umno reaps what it sowed. It practices race politics but promotes malaysian unity. The rakyat went along and achieved malaysian unity, and so logically asks why race politics?

The temperature on the ground says that the old Tun ironman way of responding to that question (which was by parallel and mutually contradicting processing) won't work anymore.

Sandwiched between Muhyiddin and Mukhriz, Najib needs to appreciate this matter-of-fact.

Maybe TRH can provide some useful ideas, thus bringing to reality his finest hour. There are many others who can rally to provide the perspectives of the old korp.

Otherwise, it will be the Afrika Korps' el-alamein for all (or more aptly, the crete decimation of the fallschirmjager).

..just some chestnuts in the fire.

ps: the greatest of them all was in fact Erich von Manstein.

TRH will go down in history as a dignified gentlemen of royal pedigree. The defeat againt TDMK that then led him to form Semangat 47 was probably his last great effort. Over the years he has been manipulated over and over again. TRH, you are great statesman but politics is a dirty game. Have you the gumption for it? I think not.
