The Merchants of Venice in UMNO

The merchants of Venice in UMNO are demanding more than their pound of flesh. In KJ's case, they are asking for his blood too. They are questioning the apparent inconsistency in the decision taken by the LD of UMNO. They were not happy that KJ was found guilty but yet let off the hook. The blood they were after is the exclusion of KJ from the Pemuda race.

Yet they accept absolutely the incredible verdict on Khir Toyo. In a sense, that is an affirmation that Khir Toyo isn't as much a threat to the outcome of the Pemuda race as is KJ. Why should KJ be made to answer the stand taken by the UMNO LD?

KJ has already been punished. The punishment is in the form of the warning issued. That should in theory, diminished his chances of the Ketua Pemuda post. The anti KJ people should be happy on this account- because whoever they support is given a handicap. If I belonged to the group which is anti KJ, I would savour the diminishing chances of my opponent.

Unless...unless what? Unless even by having a taint on his person, KJ remains the only formidable opponent in the KP race. That is the only logical explanation for their rabid vitriolic directed at Tengku Ahmad Rithaudeen and his team.

KJ is not a perfect candidate. I am sure he has all the freckles and warts and all. But it is not my duty to elaborate on them. My duty is to defend my thinking as to why KJ is the more suitable of the 3 candidates to be Ketua Pemuda UMNO. If I were a defence lawyer, why should I do the job of the prosecutor? I am not responsible for their ineptness.

But even more incredulous is the concerted attempts by many people to link the fortunes of UMNO to the ascendency or fall of KJ. Hello-KJ is not going after the presidents posts. Pemuda UMNO has never been the linchpin in UMNO's cause. The parent organisation calls the shots and on that account, it is the leadership content of the parent body that is more important than KP.

UMNO is dismembering itself not because of KJ. The reasons for the cancer that is spreading within UMNO are many. These have been analysed by many people. They include the quality of leadership within UMNO, UMNO's leadership arrogance; alienation of the people, the policies of the UMNO led government and so forth.

People! We are no longer men, women and children belonging to ancient tribes. When they faced catastrophes, they would bring forth a black goat and rubbed their hands on the body of the goat believing that all the ills that have befallen upon them, will be transferred to the black goat. Hence, the term scapegoat.

From denial excuse of perception, now sympathy.

I thought you were selling a great product ... the young man with stupendous leadership ability, visionary foresight, solution to the future, creativity in problem solving, great character and fantastic oratory skill?

Now pleading?

How pathetic?

Cut your losses. Just stay out.

Now who do you choose between Mukhriz and Khir Toyo?

not only d merchants of venice in Umno dato..

d people outside umno and also d opposition are crying for his blood...

how do we reconcile those demands?

it is not about power play or politics.. its about d perception of umno by d rakyat at large.

if he wins, will seal d fate of umno as he was found guilty by d LD.

how can he, a person declared guilty of money politics be appointed as an umno leader?

what more can he bring to umno? Further disaster?

Hello-KJ is not going after the presidents posts.
change that to :
Hello-KJ is guilty of bribing and the like, KP is the top post of Pemuda UMNO.
The reasons for the cancer that is spreading within UMNO are many and KJ is one of the cancerous agent, it must be stopped by all way possible.

Give up lah dato. Stop defending KJ. He is a big boy. He should know how to lose. He will have my respect if he withdraws from the race.

I've my respect for the DB simply because it is not a court of justice. Like any other DB it has to face many constraints before it can come up with whatever judgement and it will never satisfy everybody. So I'll refrain myself from throwing any criticism or vent my anger and frustration to the Board.

As regards KJ from the outcome of the judgemnt I must say he is LEGALLY RIGHT to contest but is it MORALLY RIGHT too? If he still chooses to contest good luck to him.

mantra-indeeptots 20 March 2009 at 17:07

It seems most of the comment that comes from pro-KJ is destroying KJ's chance to win more than all the effort that KJ has worked on...

Further, UMNO can't afford to carry the burden of a tarnished candidate. Bear in mind, UMNO cannot isolate itself from the rakyat... unless UMNO wishes to...

Most times, you have to be cruel to be nice... Commentors represent the majority of rakyat and UMNO only represent certain part of rakyat... If UMNO wishes to survive longer, start to listen to us!!!

Taking On Everybody
(1) Anonymous at 15:51
Where on earth in the article does Dato' Sak plead for any votes? He just shatters the convinient This is the popular theory put forth by the Head of the Anti KJ movement, I'll leave you to figure out who he is.

Btw, what is the differentiating factor between MM and KT. I'll leave you to make the connection that they are gunning for the same vote base. (You need to understand how a 3 contest race works before shooting your mouth, but comment is free in this blog, due to dasar 'keterbukaan')

(2) Anonymous at 15:53
There are 2 parts to your argument. In part 1, you put forth the view of what Dato' Sak has been saying in his article. But lets ask yourself one question - since when does a successful team listen to the Opposition? Does Alex Ferguson or Gus Hiddink bench Ronaldo or Drogba because Rafa says he is a diver????
No successful organization wins by listening to their Number 1 enemy.

(ii)The new theory that voting KJ would in some way decimate UMNO because KJ was found guilty by Lembaga Disiplin committee. People are not stupid, they did not wake up yesterday. As I have said in JMD, if what the LD says is the differentiation between "Clean" and "Dirty", then tell me why did BN lose in Selangor when KT was in charge? Give our citizens some credit lah, they had very good training to see between the lines

(c)Putera Tanah Melayu
I am going to play a bit of psychology here. KJ is the cancer for UMNO, but you choose to comment on Dato Sak, a KJ enthusiast, why?
Maybe because you believe a lie and feel compelled to make others believe the lie so that the lie could somehow become a truth, and you won't feel so bad about it.

(d)Anonymous at 16:37
This is hilarious....
(i)KJ should know how to lose
(ii)KJ should withdraw in order to earn your respect

Why not ask KJ to "purposely" drink Paraquat so that you can sleep better everynight?

(d)The Moral Argument by non-partisan
Is it 'moral' for KJ to continue to contest. Name one organization, anyone you can choose, where people actually come up by playing the so called moral game. Lets take the judiciary for example, and lets compare Tun Salleh Abbas and Tun Eusof Chin. In one case, the ex-Lord President was hounded so badly, that he was forced to exile himself in the forests of Trengganu, and nobody wanted to bother about him. In the case of Tun Eusoff Chin, he accidentally was holidaying in New Zealend with Lingam.

Malaysia has turned into a winner takes all game. Maybe KJ knows that this is not a fight just about some position, perhaps its a bigger fight, a chance to take on the Number 1 Critic he has faced for all these years, let him have his day in the gelanggang.

(e) Mantra, mantra,mantra

KJ = Disaster in your mind, it will never change, no point commenting further, just to mention, hows Kak Pidah's chances eh?

Just doing my part, just doing my part...

Anonymous,  20 March 2009 at 22:43

Sak,

I gather Pasquale a.k.a Barking Magpie is not your cup of tea, eh? Perception is everything Sak. Tell KJ give this one a miss. He's still young. Anyway I doubt if KJ being the UMNO Youth Chief anything significant will change. NTR will still be the PM. KJ&NTR don't sound like a team to me.

Wenger,

Some people think getting KJ drinking paraquat is a bloody brilliant idea. I bet some people might want to suggest you do the same.

Its still about perception isn’t it? Does the 4 minutes rule apply to KJ? The rule of first impression when meeting a person for the first time. It’s not a law, just a social rule, so you don’t have to abide by it. Since it’s not a law it’s not binding but persuasive.

So the argument whether perception or reality should be used to judge KJ,MM and KT will not reach to any conclusion. However, perception will always be the contributory factors that will shape a conclusion. The law and the court held that Anwar was guilty of corruption but to his supporters the perception is Anwar was and is still a saint. The judges believed that he was a sodomite but due to technicality he was not found guilty. In politics perception is the key decider not the law or reality.

The perception that Setiakawan cyber trooper’s words and comments are the voice of KJ will forever hold KJ responsible for whatever they said and comment. The anti-Mahathir movement of setiakawan gives the perception that KJ is anti anything and everything about Mahathir. This perception that is also the reality will become law. It will be carved in stone. The perception that KJ will continue with Paklah’s legacy while MM will bring back Mahathir’s legacy will play an important role and deciding factor although they both might not become what their forefathers were.

The UMNO LD decision will not in anyway influence the delegates but perception will. No need to argue about it.

Getting back to the 4 minutes rule, did he(KJ) pass your 4 minutes rule before you form your perception of him? In his case it was not a 4 minutes rule but a 5 years rule. That’s a pretty long time . A perception that had become reality…perhaps?

Anonymous,  21 March 2009 at 01:11

Mantra?
Jangan nak menumpang readership kat sini to campaign for MM.Go back to your blog and ask the interested readers to read your ceramah there ok?

AYGGMW,
engko ni dah maboknya! KJ terpaksa berlawan kempen mulut dengan bekas PM Malaysia bukan yang empunya badan sendiri!MM lantik bapaknya jadi kempen manager dia! So bila berlawan argument memang terpaksalah KJ nampak anti Mahathir ye lawyer IQ rendah!Siapalah bahlul sekarang???

Anonymous,  21 March 2009 at 01:27

Anon at 01:11

I was speaking as a 3rd person not as supporters for MM,KT or KJ…..

Since you’re Setiakawan , and you said to me “IQ rendah” and “bahlul”, can I conclude and have the perception that you as the voice for KJ and thus KJ has the perception that the rest of us are IQ rendah and Bahlul unlike he and his Oxbridge brethrens ?

Pak Zawi 21 March 2009 at 09:06

Dato' Sak,
Thanks to the LD. At least we still have three choices. Hopefully the delegates can make a wise enough decision so that only the best will become the next KP.

Anonymous,  21 March 2009 at 09:23

AYGGMW,
Why don't you flashback sikit? Wasn't it you who stooped so low in calling all the readers here as to having low IQ? Bila cakap you yang ada low IQ tahu melenting pulak??And nak make it seem as though I was referring to all readers padahal its only meant for the AYGGMW lawyer buruk!!!

Anonymous,  21 March 2009 at 09:59

Hello-KJ is not going after the presidents post?????
Who was it then who said he wants to be PM by 40. Yeah, maybe not now but through ambitious and unscruplous manipulations (and lots of them), he has build his agenda machinery to that effect - by constructive interventions????
Come on, Dato, who are you trying to kid into marrying?

No I didnt say IQ, I said EQ.....please flashback. You dont need to be oxbridge grad to have high positive EQ. Maybe what you need is SQ not IQ or EQ.

nak defend KJ benda lagi dato..dato bercakap pasal suara akar umbi..nah, selepas pencalonan2 di buat yang hampir semuanya melihatkan pengundian di buat dengan undi angkat tangan...MM mendahului dengan sokongan hebat akar umbi.

mengkhianati amanat akar umbi bermakna pemuda umno menggali kuburnya sendiri

Greenbottle 21 March 2009 at 12:09

isn't it funny...now the byword of umno species is PERCEPTION... now these rotten species are trying to somoth over the reality...

it's not the perception of negativity of umno that is the problem...it's is the REALITY.stop using euphemism to cover the cancer of umno.

and what is the reality?

the reality is umno is CORRUPT to the core!!!

my happiest day will be the complete demise of UMNO from the face of the earth...

i detest umno with all my heart.
umno has failed the malays and islam.

ironically, the party that champion ketuanan melayu is the most responsible for making bangsa melayu and islam so weak in our country.

elect anybody you want. it makes no difference. umno people are wired and made from the same mould.

Yeah.Namapak gayanya you sorang je yang rajin berzikir kan?? Keep up with your holier than thou and Mr so clever attitude!

Dear Greenbottle,

I’ve visited your blog and you take excerpt from other people and put it in your blog. Your brain must be really green its biodegradable. Use your own thought then only we can have intelligent discourse.

Tell me which is reality and which is perception.?
Anwar a sodomite; reality or perception?
DAP is a chauvinist Chinese party and only care about ketuanan Chinese: reality?
PAS an Islamic party and will never cooperate with non-muslim: reality? Perception?

Your hero Zaid Ibrahim is a negarawan who cares about this country: is it a reality or perception? Its neither a perception nor reality. Just lies.

Greenbottle 21 March 2009 at 18:08

dear "are you gonna go my way";

first of all you're too stupid to understand my blog....it would be an honour if idiots like you DON'T visit it.

i did not take other people's ideas but I QUOTE where neccessary.

and you're too stupid to even understand my last posting. and don't put words in my mouth . zaid ibrahim is NOT my hero.

and by the way my blog is a personal blog and NOT a political blog. ..having said that i do occassionally touch on politics as and when it moves me.

and although i usually disagree with sakmonkol AK 47 I admire his erudite writing ...much better than most writings in political blogs around. hence i come and visit here sometimes. I hope sakmomgkol doesn't mind.

Mat Cendana 21 March 2009 at 18:53

I never thought this day would ever come: this is one person whom I had hated to the core but now this - I actually feel Khairy Jamaludin is the best person for this post...all things considered.

[The fact that I had taken the trouble to make bold and add italics should count for something; whatever it is:-) ]

Okay, now I have to look inside myself and see how this has come about. I'll admit there's a bit of uneasiness inside, to also openly support someone obviously so unpopular with many bloggers and commentators. And some of them are so quick to shoot you down... which begs another question: Why?

But let's go through this one by one: I'm among those who feel Khairy was also a factor that contributed towards the swing for Pakatan Rakyat in the last GE. However, I was gloating about this because I was positively with PR at that time. And until Permatang Pauh.

However, would all those votes have gone to Umno/BN were there no Khairy Jamaludin in existence?...that Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor would not have fallen?...and Umno winning Kelantan?

NO, I don't think so - KJ was just one reason/excuse for people to justify their vote. Which means there were OTHER REASONS for the swing...in which case, it's quite unfair for us to place the blame on HIM. Apparently, there are many within Umno who'd love this perception to continue - "Let the wrath and scorn be on Khairy; let all the woes facing Umno be attributed to him... they'll then not see me closely enough and I'll escape scrutiny." Waa, that's so very sneaky of you! Heheh!

I'll admit and acknowledge this: I would still have happily stayed with my long-held perception of Khairy; and right now be one of the rabid anti-KJ bloggers and commentators on blogosphere... except for Dato' Sakmongkol AK47. Yes, I had to review my beliefs and think them though again because of him!...kacau betul!:-) You folks don't know how tough it is for me to accept that things that I had believed to be `facts' may not really be so. There goes the comfort zone...

After reading Sakmongkol's earlier posts, I was thinking (and hoping) it was sort of a gag, or a stunt by Sakmongkol... with the following post "really explaining who is the best candidate - and it's certainly NOT Khairy". Things would have "gone back to normal"...

But he's serious about it; so I guess I owe it to be serious with my own evaluations too... and I sincerely agree that; YES, WHEN IT COMES TO THIS MATTER, KJ IS THE BEST CANDIDATE.

No, he isn't the best person for the post of Ketua Pemuda Umno - there are most likely others in the party who might be better than he is. But they aren't among the candidates.

"But what about Mukhriz?? Okay, what about him? [Sorry Kluangman - I'm from Kedah too but I feel there's a better choice here].

I'm not going to say bad things about Mukhriz (although I'm tempted to do so with Khir Toyo) - yes, he seems such a nice guy. But does "nice" ensure he'll be "effective"? If nice is what we're looking for, hey, why not put Nik Aziz as Ketua Pemuda then? Haha!

I have this feeling here: That many are for Mukhriz mostly because of their positive sentiments for Dr Mahathir. Erm, it isn't Tun who is in the running here... Yes, it's his son - SO?

"Oh, so you think Khairy will be more effective then?" YES, I DO - and shouldn't this be the main reason when deciding on who is the best *of the three* to hold the post?

But these "common beliefs and perceptions", and the natural inclination to follow the path of least resistant by *also* being "anti-Khairy"... I'll admit they are very hard to change. Good luck to Khairy, Dato'Sakmongkol and those who dare to go against the (seeming) flow.

Dearest Greenbottle,

These are your words……

“my happiest day will be the complete demise of UMNO from the face of the earth...”

”i detest umno with all my heart.
umno has failed the malays and islam.”

“elect anybody you want. it makes no difference. umno people are wired and made from the same mould.”

I didn’t put it in your mouth…..

The difference between you and rest of us here is we try to make things work while you detest UMNO and don’t give a damn whats going to happen.

Why bother giving any comments if you don’t care? Oic, just nak lepas geram jer lah…

Btw, I visited your blog just to see whose actually behind the “orang kecewa” statements above. Don’t worry, I don’t have even a slightest urge to go there again.
