The DPM Speaks!
Two statements by the DPM are worth commenting on.
The first was about his endorsement of a leadership transition between Rafidah Aziz and Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
The second is about giving voters in Permatang Pauh a choice.
Of course the DPM endorses the power transition plan in the Wanita Wing. It mirrors his own transfer of power. It is at once undemocratic and snuffs out the offer of a choice to Wanita members. Imitation is indeed the cheapest form of flattery. It is also uncannily similar to honour among thieves.
It cannot be gainsaid that Wanita UMNO plays a very important role in any elections. I have witnessed this first hand. The Wanita UMNO in Pekan unfortunately has always been sidelined. What the DPM says about the Wanita wing at the national level has never been reflected sincerely in the Pekan Wanita UMNO.
Secondly, it is sad the Wanita wing refuses to give its members a choice. I know Shahrizat Jalil personally or kak Ijat as she is known. She is an intelligent and hardworking lady who has a lot of substance. It will be demeaning for her to secure the Ketua Wanita post on a free ticket. She can win on her own merits and should not hitch a ride on Rafidah’s hypocritical magnanimity.
A choice for Permatang Pauh?
Suddenly the DPM sounded so charitable. Sound so. Looks so. But is he so? Lets see whether he maintains this farce when the skeletons in his cupboard are exposed.
This stand offends our intelligence. To the people of Permatang Pauh he offers them a choice but to UMNO members he offers them a fait acompli. Accept the UMNO tradition.
Indeed the people of Permatang Pauh must be given a choice. Whether they are UMNO supporters or not. The DPM could not say otherwise as that would go against the assertiveness of the voters as shown in the 12th GE.
The people of Permatang Pauh must be given a choice not to judge Anwar Ibrahim, but Dato Najib himself. He can expect to be stripped naked in this coming by election.
It will be a revelation of biblical proportions. We will need a few lorries to transport them.
