Reformasi state of mind and selected economic issues. Tales by an unknown blogger no. 93

1. I hope, we , especially the Malays don't trivialise theft and their variants like corruption etc.

2. I have heard this many times. If we don't steal, the Chinese and Indians will.

3. Why do we Malays like to justify our bad and immoral deeds, by referencing them to the imagined bad and immoral deeds of others?

4. Isn't the reverse is also true and can become a source of pride to us Malays? We can also say, can't we that if we are not clever and rich, the Nons will? That should inspire us to better ourselves shouldn't it?

5. It's because we didn't, we accept theft, corruption, embezzlement , conversion of illicit money, skimming off the top ,as normal. Kalau tak rasuah bukan bangsa melayu. Yang paling korap ialah melayu UMNO.

6. Theft is the mother of all crimes. It's the source from which all kinds of crime spring from. Murder is the form of theft most foul.

7. Suppose X murdered Y. He stole Y from the wife. He stole Y from the children. He stole Y from his friend.

8. See? Murder is a form of theft most foul.

9. Theft can mutate into several forms. The bigger the theft, the bigger the crimes that could be.

10. That's why theft must be punished as appropriately. The thief who stole powdered milk cannot be punished as severely as one who stole 2.6b. Right?

11. The cop who bombed Altantuya stole from the family. Even if she is a prostitute as claimed by many UMNO people, the cop stole from her clients who could otherwise enjoy her personalized services.

12. The man who stole 2.6b, deprived or stole from thousands or even millions if that 2.6b were appointed to a multiple of uses.

13. Suppose the uses include public housing, schools, hospitals , good public transport etc. but because the 2.6b is stolen from them, they are deprived of these benefits.

14. Are technicalities of the law more important than justice?

15. Are we to forget the mischief because of some genteel and bourgeois sense of fair play?

16. Let's now talk about some bad economic effects that can emanate from the absence of a reformasi state of mind.

17. Every other week, I hear the pm announcing some transfer payments. It reminds us of the BRIM payments initiated by the Najib administration.

18. That's the PM's version of easy money. His version of personalized quantitative easing.

19. That brief jubilation of recipients will eventually end up in agony. It's called inflation. Heard of it?

20. I sense the same lunacy behind nana Nons discretionary supply of money as when an MP suggested we print money as much as we want and as when as we want it. I want a session in the morning -printing la.

21. We have a printer in our home. Clad in sarong we start printing as and when and as much as we like.

22. Oh, what blissful days. Salad days and halcyon days.

23. That short thrill and orgasm will be replaced by inflation. Inflation is everywhere and anywhere, a monetary phenomenon la

24. When prices all around go up what do we do? We will first say, the government is lousy and we have an incompetent finance minister.

25. Then we will say, print some more. From the MOF, we hear, huloq lagi nana, huloq. What will happen then?

26. We all will be going to the pasar malam' with sacks of notes. We will have a Zimbabwean type of inflation.

27. Maybe people at the MOF and BN and others should be reading Friedman and Schwartz's monetary history of united states. Maybe some people should seriously read the K percent rule of money growth. To be continued.....sabar
