What Needs to be Done First.

Of course I am angry. We have worked very hard. People are surprised that DAP lost. We did not mind battling against vote buying, intimidation, threats and so on. We expect BN to resort to every possible means to stay in power. WE have no doubts, has the election commission acted judiciously and impartially and that we have a level playing field, BN is finished.
The Teluk Intan by election has proven and convinced me of 2 things; the playing field must be leveled. (2) We need to change elections commission and we must remove its blundering and subservient chairman. By doing these two things, only then we can have a fair elections.
No period in our political history has vote buying been more wanton and blatant than during Najib’s time. He is a gangster by any measure- using threats, intimidation, controlling the government apparatuses, institutions and finally money. He pays his way through. He is behaving just like Assad of Syria without the guns and canons. But who is to stop Najib from going to that direction? I am sure he is also not unaware that Assad eventually poofed.
Pakatan Rakyat must get registered and speak with one voice.
Pakatan Rakyat must now sit down and refocus. We are tired that every time on stage PAS speaks about nothing but hudud. And Anwar Ibrahim is making people tired when each time on stage he speaks about the injustices that had befallen him. And Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah while making the right sound bites, is speaking like a hermit from Langgak Golf. He wants change; he must come out and lead.
We must speak with one voice of a common agenda- to create a new Malaysia founded on the principles of rule of law and fair and just policies. That kind of government is secured trough fair elections umpired by a conscientious elections commission.
The elections commission has showed that it is utterly impotent when Zahid Hamidi issued threats to Rela, promised uniforms, promised development, all kind of promises, buying of votes, bribery and so on so forth. They remain silent when all kinds of abuses and vote buying are committed by the ruling government. The chairman of the election commission should be removed. The commission in fact came out saying corruption is no corruption. This BN will never cede power if the playing field is not level and the subservient election commission is not removed!
The DAP made the right decision when fielding Dyana Sofea Daud. It shows to the country, it is serious in pursuing a cause for a Malaysia for all without distinction of race, colour and creed. Everyone is given equal protection under government operating on the principle of rule of law. This is only minor setback- the DAP leadership must not waver from this mission.
The DAP’s decision has struck terror in the minds of UMNO. The younger generation who came and hugged Lim Guan Eng( mostly Malays) did so saying encouraging things about the DAP’s decision. The younger generation can now see there is hope and a better future for the country without the morbid racism and supremacist rants of UMNO. We can say, the future voters are already with DAP and Pakatan Rakyat and these sentiments must not be allowed to mellow as they get older.
The future of this country’s lies with the establishment of a good government, consisting of good people, with the correct set of values. As a person directly watching the younger generation of DAP leaders, I have no doubt DAP is well prepared for the future.
But before we do all that, we must have fair elections. We must have a conscientious and law abiding elections commission. And our Pakatan partners must stop talking about uncommon issues. We ask the elections commission one simple question- how to tally the number of votes with voters? You can’t keep silent on this matter.

Bukan Teluk Intan saja. Jika ada Prk lagi Dap akan kalah lagi kecuali dikawasan seratusperatus cina macam bkt bintang. Dato ni sudah berat beban digalas lagi. I respect you dato but admit the crude fact pakatan rakyat is not sepakat...and never will.

Disappointment. Angry. Yes. All of us are but do not despair. There is hope. Dyana has broken the Malay fear.
A journey of the thousand miles begins with the first step and this is it.
The future is bright. How long can UMNO rule with minority support and help from the EC? How long?

Tengku Raza;eigh is like a 'loyer buruk'. A loyer buruk can say the correct thing about the law, but he is useless since he can't appear in court unlike any practicing lawyer. A practing lawyer can talk nonsense but his opinion however wrong it may be is heard by the Judge since he can appear in court.

Ku Li is like a loyer buruk. Issuing statements one after another. But he did nothing.

Dato, angry is an understatement.I am very very dissapointed by the Chinese, the main culprits are from the business community for deserting Malaysians as a whole,by giving their whole hearted support for the very corrupted Umno/BN.

The Chinese businessmen hold a considerable influence in the associations and clans by their donations. So they can flex their muscles and influence their members to support their Umno masters crony. An Umno minister acting on behalf of Deepak's bank loans brings back memories of what Umno B did to Razaleigh's supporters.Ask the banks to call back their loans and make them bankrupts. These intimidations worked for Umno as these Chinese businessmen wet their pants.

Anybody who thinks that this by election is not important as it will not effect the status quo is either living under the tempurong or a blurdy moron.Calling these people morons will be an insult to the real morons.

A win by the DAP's Dyana would have given huge momemtum to the PR going into GE14.At the same time it will break the morale of Umno leaders and grassroots.Just imagine dozens of Umno ministers, aided by hundreds of mat rempits and hundreds more of Umno Youth's samsengs cannot beat one Dyana.Just imagine how embarassed and ashamed these Umno ministers will be.Where are these Umno ministers going to hide their blue, black and purple faces.Of course under their spouses sarongs.

This was a very well planned strategy and calculated risk. The DAP knew this and played the game very well, only to be let down by the Chinese business community turned Umno cronies and bodekers.

Let these deserters kiss Umno's backside and maybe Umno will throw them crumbs or maybe better.Bang them hard in the behind.Serves them right as they have lost all their rights to complain.

Dear Sakmongkol

“We must speak with one voice of a common agenda - to create a new Malaysia founded on the principles of rule of law and fair and just policies. That kind of government is secured through fair elections umpired by a conscientious elections commission.”

But how do we get from A to B? This nation is fissured along racial, religious and socio-economic lines. The fact that this is so after 56 years of BN rule clearly shows that they have no interest in creating a united Malaysia beyond lip service. It suits them that the different races are compartmentalized. This way racial politics would ensure that the Malays are fed just enough so that they do not rebel and are kept subservient enough so that they do not question the UMNO leaders who then rule in their name but happily enrich themselves. A modicum of “unity” is required, and this is easily achieved by bringing onboard farcical racial parties like the MIC and MCA.

In an earlier post I spoke about unrepresentative government. It seems more and more likely that a change of government can only occur when enough Malays migrate to cities and towns where they become exposed to living with non-Malays, and where they are exposed to the real challenges of modern living: inflation especially food prices (kampong living provides for food off the land), housing unavailability (a flat or house has to be paid for unlike the free inherited family kampong house), transportation problems (a little Kancil is needed because the bicycle won’t do) and an adequately paid job (the Banglas are not making it easy, and unlike kampong living, real cash is needed in a city). These pressures will make the migrating Malay angry. They will then vote opposition. But so what? It simply translates to bigger margins of victory for PR. Meanwhile the folks left in the kampongs are still ignorant of the shenanigans of the corrupt and inept BN government and continue to vote for them because they say they will protect the Malays against the Chinese and the Christians.

The EC will not be fair and their electoral review will not result in an increase in the number of urban seats. Voter frustration will ensue, and a dangerous political situation will arise.

maestro's worse nightmare.,  1 June 2014 at 12:05

By voting in the Gerakan's Mah Siong of Umno/BN,the Teluk Intan voters are sending a very wrong message to the Umno. That they can send rowdy hooligans and samsengs to intimidate and beat up their opponents supporters,or burn down their offices and still be voted into power. These voters have failed their children and future generations.Go figure.

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 12:12

Pakatan will never ever win Putrajaya thru GEs with the EC and other govt institutions all supporting BN.

This has allowed BN to do all the illegal things and still get away with it.

The only way for Pakatan to win is to play dirty - more dirty than UMNO. Pakatan should instead work hard at breaking up UMNO and BN. Use whatever horse trading as required just to win.

If the toxic PAS continues to push for hudud, Pakatan should roll out a red carpet and sent them to UMNO (to force them to make a stand on hudud - either way, they will die)and cause the break up BN.

the mean machine,  1 June 2014 at 12:31

With the entire BN machinery behind Mah Hee Siong against a greenhorn,a 238 majority is not a feather in his cap.In fact it is an insult to him being a veteran 2 time MP and Gerakan president.

He should turn down any ministerial post being offered to him as his win is no win at all.He is a sure loser without his Umno big bros.

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 12:32

Dyana almost won. A good start for a young first timer. PAS hudud issue affected urban votes.

The next GE will most likely see Dyana stand in Johor. Expect DAP to field more young Malays next GE.

Betul. Selagi perkara-perkara yang disebut oleh Dato' tak diperbetulkan, sampai kiamat pun orang lain tak menang walaupun ikut prosedur yang betul.

politic is about perception and resources...the reality BN won...kalau MB Selangor datang bawak telor maka telor la dia dapat and he thinks he has influence...what a joke and I am sorry and angry as well....

WEll Dato , It isnt over till the cows come home , but the cows have turned into condos , never to be seen again, fat chance of them returning. so rest assured, till the day the tyrannical kleptocrats yields, the struggle goes on

bryan 1 June 2014 at 13:35

Dato, it isnt over till the cows come home but the cows have turned into condos,so fat chance of them returning! So the struggle goes on till the tyrannical kleptocrats yields , as long as it takes.

Dato from your point of view do PAS raising the issue of hudud had or going to made a big set back for pakatan vote? Would you want/like for PAS to abandon a call for syariah/ hudud? If PAS would not sway from their decision would you or DAP propose to kick them from pakatan or do DAP would leave the pakatan? I just would like to know an honest answer cause this question is keep banging in my head over and over

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 13:53

I did make several comments that recent events and development in PKR components parties will be a big hurdle for DAP to retain Teluk Intan. Somehow you did not publish them. I have the satisfaction that I am proven right.
Unless PKR put their act together, it will give BN a 2/3 majority in PRU14.

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 14:46

Now Dieana can go back to become 'amah' in LGE office! Padan Muka!!!

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 14:55

To the chinese & non muslim voters of Teluk Intan, you all have been called pendatang & ingrates by these useless UMNO/BN. And yet you all still voted for them. How foolish you all could be. Thanks to you all, our hopes for a change took a real setback. Pooi! to you all.

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 14:57

Like i said before, Ku li is a useless person who talks big & too coward to fo anything.

KTWong87,  1 June 2014 at 15:57

I concur with you Dato. it was without doubt Najib and his UMNO-dominated BN at its ugliest, with various government agenices doing their compliant kow-tow best to close one, or maybe both, eyes. Even when the Pasir Salak MP in loud BN shirt sans any EC tag which authorises entry into polling stations, the EC official and policeman on duty "did not see".

But some points at topmost in my mind.

As you also pointed out, Pakatan needs to speak with one voice. PAS took the hudud bait that BN poked at it some weeks ago, and despite the pre-existing agreemnt not to raise such issues, has not stopped pushing and pushing for hudud in Kelantan. Further fanned by some within its ranks into hudud for ALL, with some of its folks going as far as to wave "Hudud for All" posters at the May 1st anti-GST rally. Bukit Gelugor was too firmly in Pakatan hands, but significant votes were lost in Teluk Intan. (And going forward, if PAS persists...)

It was a valiant gamble to field Dyana in a contest with the 42% Chinese bloc being the biggest, all the more against a Chinese Gerakan president whose grandfather was a respected pillar of the local community. She was also tarred by political opponets as being a traitor to both race and religion, with fake photos of her supposedly in a bikini, of her drinking beer and such circulated. It is to her credit, and also to the credit of her supporting political machinery and the broader minded electorate that she garnered so many viotes. DAP quoted a 10% Chinese voter loss because Dyana is a Malay; I hope those in such a 10% can answer to their conscience when UMNO-dominated BN heaps even more of their corrupt and despotic nonsense on the poor rakyat.

Topmost on my mind is the low turnout. Even when DAP arranged for 15 buses to ferry voters from the Klang vally for a nominal RM10 return, I think only a few buses actually were used. The first bus to arrive in Teluk Intan had only 10 passengers, and some of trhem may have been BN viters since the offer was open to all. Mah is on record as being afraid of returning outstation voters on the premise (rightly so!) that they tend to vote Pakatan. But how many returned? To those who did not, I hope they can live with their decision, especially if it was due to apathy or some other stupid reason.Who else on the Teluk Intan electoral roll did not vote?

With 67% turnout, as Ong Kian Ming had warned, Dyana lost by 238 votes. If Pakatan supporters did not vote and had no valid reasons for that, they deserve the largest portion of the blame for the loss; they have let Dyana, the coalition parties and the nation down. Were there 238 or more of these? I hope they can live with themselves.

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 18:03

Maksud Muhsin, hanya dengan suara sepakat cara UMNO/BN (rasuah, menipu & cakap bohong)sahaja Negara Malaysia boleh Berjaya dimajukan. Pelik & ajaib pandangan tuan ini.

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 18:08

Bruno, I totally agree with what you said. It is a story of arm twisting & promises to the small group of yet strong rant seeking business fraternity. Anyway just as you concluded these people have been taken for a ride, at the end of the day they have been taken for a ride by the cowing Mah.

Anonymous,  1 June 2014 at 18:15

Maestro, the business community in Teluk Intan have to take the blame, for placing their future in UMNO/BN hands. They did that either in fear or mere selfishness.

Unknown 2 June 2014 at 17:18

PR's lost in T Intan could be actually a blessing in disguise. The opposition pact must learn not to under-estimate the business/investor community influence in swaying votes from the Chinese. Sometimes we learn more in defeat than in victory - just admit the wrongs/mistakes and correct them. Never be in self-denial by refusing to admit...
Learn what went wrong & never repeat it again!

Anonymous,  2 June 2014 at 21:04

Without vote buying...Dyana would have won!

70% Chinese gave support to Dyana.

Very sad that there are still many voters continue to support BN/UMNO with rampant corruption and abuse of power! Really can never understand their thinking!
