Water Torture in Selangor leads UMNO to its Unmarked Grave.

“This is just another of those crony-enriching projects …. “
And those in the know at that time, and knowing Rozali’s (limited) abilities and background immediately knew he was merely a front man for an UMNO warlord, and you can guess who.
So no surprise that he didn’t keep the hard part of the bargain, that is, to reduce the NRW (non-revenue water). This is water that leaks out of old pipes, ductile iron and also asbestos pipes, and also stolen water.
The Selangor government is billed for processed/treated water that leaves the treatment plants, that is, billed on gross volume, but it can only sell to consumers 70%, after losing 30% NRW. So herein lies the problem. If the 30% NRW is cut down by Syabas then there may be no need for Langat 2.
But Rozali is not the man for the job. He specializes in milking Syabas. When there was a need to replace or add pipelines, instead of buying cheaper locally made ductile iron pipes (several Malaysian manufacturers), he went to Indonesia to buy a plant and supplied Syabas with expensive pipes from his own plant. Well, he was clever only in this sense.
Selangor should slug it out with the BN government. The people will support the MB.

I could not summarize it better to describe what’s happening to Selangor with the water issue. With the water issue as background, let’s see how BN fares against the incumbent government.
The UMNO information chief says it’s mobilizing the 6667 operation centers in preparation for the GE13. Mobilizing means what? Repainting that old hut and cutting the foliage and growth that has claimed the unused operations center? Putting up maps, flags, installing TV and karaoke machines?  Don’t forget to order a table for the blackjack sessions.
The General Election is expected to be held in September. That’s the best window of opportunity for UMNO to have the GE. Later dates would place UMNO in a very precarious position to do damage control on issues that are coming out of the woodwork. Also UMNO thinks what it has done in terms of handing money and cash to the public is sufficient to bring back the swing voters it lost in the GE12.
We are not going to dispute that assessment. But we are not going to overrate its chances in getting back what it has lost either. On average the vote swing towards the opposition in 2008 was around 12%. In Selangor the swing was on average 20%.
With all the money it has given out, all the propaganda it dishes out through the media industrial complex (audio, visual and the new media UMNO owns and controls) it has probably succeeded in getting back at the most 5%. That still leaves a 7% vote swing in favor of Pakatan on the whole. In Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur with 11 parliamentary seats, Pakatan still has a surplus of 15%. That is assuming that while UMNO went on the offensive, Pakatan has been sleeping.
PM Najib has received favorable reports. Never mind if they are inflated by 30%. Najib has already collected postal votes from students at overseas centers which will be added to the overall votes UMNO and BN expect to get.
But UMNO goes into this election mindful of the fact that in 2008, it secured only 2.38 million of the 7.88 million votes. It got 2 million votes of the 5.7 million Malay votes. PAS and PKR got more Malay votes than UMNO. So it’s no wonder UMNO has spent all efforts and time at dehumanizing Anwar Ibrahim to get the public to look at Anwar Ibrahim as a sex fiend and a morally depraved being who is not morally fit to head this country. Only an animal is described as how Anwar Ibrahim is described.
But here is the hard truth- we may not like Anwar Ibrahim for whatever reasons we have, but if the people wills it that he heads the country, what can we with our `pristine’ moral scruples do?
DAP secured more Chinese votes than both MCA and Gerakan combined. Now, we can expect the MCA and Gerakan to be obliterated. BN is all UMNO now. The MCA and MIC boys should take a hard look at themselves and start thinking whether it’s prudent to stay on the side of the oppressors. It’s better for them to cast their lot with Pakatan. If I were a Malaysian Indian, after the `hang Ambiga’ outburst, I would be ashamed to support UMNO/BN. it would be dishonorable for any Malaysian Indian to support UMNO.
Now that UMNO is really really ready to go the polls allow us to reveal to them a few facts. In 2008, there was an average of 12% vote swing to the opposition. Let’s say with the amount of money that UMNO has given out and all those corporate moves that fatten their war chest, that vote swing obtained by the opposition in 2008, is reduced by 5%. That still leaves the opposition party- Pakatan with around 7% vote swing.
If the swing remains at 7%, BN will likely be left with less than 90 seats. They are out!
The PM wants to get Selangor back at all costs. He knows in 2008, voter swing was biggest in Selangor at 20.9% and in FT Kuala Lumpur at 20.5%. He’s pulling all the stops to recapture Selangor. The biggest single blunder UMNO/BN made was to use water as a weapon to pummel the people of Selangor into submission. That is the most despicable and heinous action UMNO/BN took. It’s going to be fatal to UMNO.
The people of Selangor must stand solidly behind Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim in facing this version of biological warfare visited upon them by the evil UMNO/BN power crazy leadership. The Selangor government should start thinking of setting up a new water supply company to replace syabas altogether. Or it should start building a state owned water treatment plant. With the heinous and unconscionable strategies expected from UMNO/BN, Selangor government must develop a siege mentality as defense. The people of Selangor must never cower at the face of this bestial behavior of the UMNO government.
This single treacherous act by UMNO /BN will only cause the vote swing obtained in 2008 to be entrenched and even escalate. For Selangor I predict the vote swing will stay around 15%. With 15% vote swing, how will the Pakatan fare in Selangor?
UMNO can only retain the current 6 parliamentary seats it has if over the 4 years, UMNO has regained 18% of the swing votes it lost in 2008. That is very unlikely given the gangster-style manner UMNO is taking to recapture Selangor. Even if UMNO has recovered 10 percentage points, UMNO will never regain Selangor.  Noh Omar and others hanging on their seats will be enjoying life as private citizens. Khir Toyo will pursue a rewarding career as a Tempe seller and Noh Omar will be a prawn farmer.
This is what will happen in Selangor under different vote swing scenarios. This was taken from a private intelligence study on the impact of vote swings on the future of BN and PR.

Collective punishment of the people of Selangor for voting the "wrong" way?

Like the Israelis giving collective punishment to the people of Gaza for voting for Hamas?

Dato, just plain and simple. If this guy Rozali is worth his salt,a quality calibre CEO,he needn't be anybody's crony. He is just a useless good for nothing fake, makan gaji buta at the people's expense.

I think you mean, "and GERAKAN to be obliterated".

Anonymous,  25 July 2012 at 08:43

I think the swing s gonna be more than that. All my adult life incl 2008 I ve never once voted anything but the 'dacing' but come next GE we ll be voting for anyone BUT the 'dacing'. And I know of many more urban Malays (supposedly their vote bank) on the same page.

Clearly Najib 'kena kencing' by Muhyiddin Noh & Zin Badak for this political sepukku

Kita pukul 0 BN kali ni. DiMelaka depa cakap besar 14-0, Diselangor kita pulak bagi depa 0.

Sorry Dato, I detect a mistake: 'MCA and DAP (?) will be obliterated'.

Many reasons why Umno/BN will lose the inevitable GE13th.Forget PKFZ and the rest. They are history. And like the Dr likes to say,the Malays have poor memory.Let us talk about the recent ones which are still fresh in memory.

1)NFC.Umnoputras ate and sold all the cows and buying condos for themselves and children, while leaving the rakyat to pay sky high prices for beef, and also depriving some for not affording to pay exobitant prices for beef.

2)The Ali twins.Sending the twins to create animosity among the various races and religions.

3)Hamburgers.Sending bigots to cook and offer a sweet Hindu lady, who is also a vegetarian beef hamburgers,at the front doorsteps of her home.An insult to all Indians of the Hindu faith.

4)Butts and asses.Sending ex- servicemen to intimidate a sweet Hindu lady,by showing off their abused red, purple and black asses with stitches on their torn butts.

5)Illegals.By letting illegals running wild in the cities and surburbs.Robbing and beating up their victims savagely, especially women. Now no one is safe walking the streets, even in small groups. As these babarians roam the streets in large groups as if they have a licence to rob and assault their victims.

6)FGVH.By conning the Felda settlers to part with their land.Giving them thousands while letting their cronies make hundreds of thousands and millions.By deceiving the hard working settlers into parting with their land, most of the parliamentary seats in the Felda schemes will be lost.If Umno lost most of the Felda seats so goes Putrajaya.

Umno cuba nak main pancut air tapi terpancut muka sendiri..serba buat serba tak jadi..sebagai ahli umno aku malu betul dengan gelagat bodo pemimpin-pembesar umno semacam alibaba dgn 40 penyamun.

Ohhhh! we wish we were in China! Line this vultures from umno scums and shoot them in a firing squad for this daylight crime to hold the selangoreans to ransome with Langat 2 craps!

All your adult life you never once voted anything but the dacing?
People like you contributed to all this mess that Malaysians have to suffer.

Why? the good days are over? The gravy train had already passed your station? Are you hoping for another Pakatan gravy train to come your way after GE13? You people are no different than Rozali.

Dato, and don't forget that Bersih has now been vindicated!
It seems that whatever BN does now is fruitless.
And I pity the poor Felda settlers. FGV's price is gonna go below RM4.55 in days to come. That's a given.

Dato',
Sorry to be a pedant, but it's Psychological warfare being waged, not biological.

Anonymous,  25 July 2012 at 11:45

Both my wife and I had voted 5 times...3 for BN and 2 for DAP/PAS. We look at issues especially national interest and for our future generation. Looks like BN has only interest for themselves. Being non-Malay, we won't hesitate voting for PAS whom is the likely candidate in my area against Umno.

Patrick 25 July 2012 at 14:45

The courts has already declared BERSIH legal and SLAPPED Hisham squarely in the face. Now, how stupid can this be for Hisham AND Nazri!! Cant get any stupider...This is a huge psychological boost for the opposition and all civil minded malaysians. Subsequent BERSIH rallies will be LEGAL and participants need not fear anymore. If after this episode, Najib still feels that BN can win in the coming elections, he can proceed.

UMNO is so desperate that they are plundering the economy faster than the melting of the polar caps. FGV, IHH, Langat2, etc, etc. Selangor should lead the way towards breaking the UMNO monopoly in business NOW. By taking back control of water in the state, the opposition will be fully vindicated in their deeds and actions. If Khaled can save the Malaysian tax payers RM 8B BEFORE the elections, he will be a hero and the opposition will stroll into power. Walk in the park.

The opposition should now fully go to war on 2 fronts; politically AND business. Politically to publicise UMNO's water greed/threat and take back control of water management, distribution in Selangor. This water issue is the best golden opportunity to slam dunk the UMNO into nationwide defeat. And prevent RM 8B from going into the pockets of UMNO cronies. The kind of publicity from this win for the opposition will be tremendous boost.

Khaled has very good team support in the form of Tony, Nurul, Rafizi and countless analysts, investigators, publicists, etc, etc. What more can a good leader/manager ask of his team? Dedicated, committed and smart team players with single minded focus is so rare these days in politics. The team has been put through the baptism of fire and proven their capabilities. With the accumulated respect from their thorough investigative research and reporting, the electorates expect nothing less than clear and transparent victory on this water issue.

Selangor electorates are fed up with UMNO greed and dictatorship. There are many of us now willing to do what it takes to bring down the UMNO-led govt. The corruption unveiled constantly by the opposition team of Rafizi/Tony/Nurul are nothing short of spectacular. There are no shortage of financiers and businesses willing to support the opposition, IF and only IF, TRANSPARENCY and good governance, are adhered to, before and after the transfer of federal power.

Time for Khaled and team to push the envelope to the limit, to bring down the UMNO hyena's and vultures, yesterday. We could not ask for a better managed. skilled and dedicated team now. They put idiots like Hisham, Nazri, Najib, et el to shame.

Sam Yap,  25 July 2012 at 15:02

Dato Sak,

The 3 scenarios in the stats table looks promising. Truly, I hope you are right. I am really tired and fed up of being told to go back to China when in fact I speak Bahasa better than Mandarin. I prefer curry mee, nasi lemak, banana leaf rice, roti canai, fried hokkien mee local style, local dim sum etc. I am born here and speak 3 languages and 2 dialects.

I am also tired of being threatened, seeing my tax money go to waste and worst.

Tired of being scared of the rising crime.

Tired of being scared of the police as one cannot be sure if they are friend or foe.

Tired of the f**king politicians who keep playing mind games.

Tired of politicians who does not seem interested in coming up with good policies which will benefit the rakyat and promote nation building.

So, for the country's sake I hope you are right, Dato Sak.

Anonymous,  25 July 2012 at 15:58

I like watching the National Geography channel. Whenever the show is on the feeding habits of hyena or vultures, I am disturbingly reminded of UMNO leaders and their cronies.

Let the Election Commission be very clear about what is a valid vote. Does a mark the size of a pencil dot on the ballot automatically invalidate a vote? Should not the Election Commission state clearly on posters outside the ballot area what is and what is not a valid vote. Should it not also state that a vote is invalid if and only if it has two or more marks of the same size.

Voting procedures must be publicised well before Election Day and the public told in no uncertain terms that EVERYTHING IS ABOVE BOARD.

The Commission must list all the conditions which can make a ballot paper considered 'Spoilt'.

BN can win hands down if electoral officers can add minute marks on ballot paper merely by looking at the face of the vote-caster: if you suspect he is from PR, add a mark to invalidate his vote during counting time. If the vote is for BN, the vote is considered valid because the small mark was 'accidental'.

I don't trust BN or the Election Commission.

Anonymous,  25 July 2012 at 20:11

Dato, very interesting and certainly invigorating to read your take on the current situation. I envy Selangoreans. There is hope after all. I'll put that immigration application to Australia at the back burner for the moment.

Anonymous,  25 July 2012 at 20:21

This Mexican standoff only reinforced the opinion that critical resources such as water must never be under private hand where the rakyat is held to ransom by a bunch of greedy thieves. Each state government should be responsible for running such facilities. Sure, if they want to managed it like a business enterprise, the better it is if it is done professionally and not a gravy train for cronies and the well connected. Khalid must win this one or it will spell doomsday for many public enterprises.

Dato, very promising read. I'm hoping for Opposition to win this GE13. If not, will emigrate to overseas very soon.

Sak & bloggers,
Based on the statistics, first, we also need to analyze what are the odds and probability, and the percentage of instant citizens living in each of the locations who will be mandated to vote for BN.

second, what has the PK elected candidates in 2008 done for the communities, what success / failures, remedies have been prescribed ?

third, what have PK / A.B.U highly committed aspiring candidates done individually; their supporters both the youth and the veteran voters living in the areas done individually and collectively, including the NGOs, the suraus, etc to lessen the odds and increase the probability ? Working in collaboration ?

fourth, what are the visibility of massage parlors and cybercafes, the high percentage of the dragging youths, in relation to each other, and the immigrants, to prop up the odds for PK/ A.B.U ? These elements are engineered there for reasons.

fifth, what can the elected PK aduns ( ? ) and aspiring candidates do to influence the probability of swing to PK in these locations.

More importantly, winnable candidates should have strategic plans in and above the head, then blueprints and fresh innovations to spearhead district development to share during these meetings and culminate at ceramah.

The next phase of development should be migrated to the rural areas to create thousands of meaningful jobs there, to enhance the lives of the aging population, to bring mental, spiritual ( not more head knowledge but meaningful applications with the right committed mentors, not necessarily with degrees, but strong recommendation, sincerity and some skills are the requirements ) and emotional development to the children and youth. And to ease critical issues in the cities.

Let’s give Sak's latest article backed up with statistics and these concerns some thoughts over sleep and when we are reawakened. As I write, I realize we, each loves our nation and communities, hence let’s assimilate – people of different backgrounds begin to see themselves as part of a larger community - through our evergreen Malaysian Muhibbah Spirit.

Time is not on our side. Let’s each do the level best as we could, the least, but not less important is to sacrifice a little meaningful time to engage with people and disseminate information. Thank you.

I am not impressed with the kind of language used here.Lets be polite Malaysians.Thank you.

Another thing is TNB's new digital meter. It adds at least forty percent more to your bill even if the usage is the same using the latest tariff rates and it insists on estimating usage over months even if you volunteer to call in your monthly reading because over more months the rates applied on bigger totals result in bigger bills and thus revenues to the UmnoLC. All this must be clarified once and for all.

Meanwhile on water...

I like this gem by Anon,25 July 2012 16:08
"Didalam hukum hakam agama suci allah swt, sumber air ada untuk semua mahkluk tidak kira binatang atau manusia..akan tetapi manusia seperti biasa suka melawan hukum suci dan buat hukum sendiri!"

Compare this with another gem uttered some time ago," rasa-rasanya esok saya mahu mengadap kebawah Duli Yang DiPertuan Agong untuk membubarkan Parlimen."

On such a basic need as water to support all forms of life, BN shows its true colours repeatedly that nothing is beneath them to think of ways to oppress those they see are slowly dismantling their scandalous money-making schemes to support an equally scandalous, ostentatious lifestyle. BN leaders have come to think that they and only they deserve such a lifestyle.

PM Najib's father's legendary and exemplary leadership is on record for all to note where development benchmarks have been laid. Nothing was spared to keep costs to a minimum, and the late Tun forbade senior officers to send him off at the airport when he went overseas; he felt these officers had more productive things to do in their offices than to waste time being seen with him; to enjoy a few moments of reflected glory from the man? Not for Tun, this sycophantic time-wasting habit. Why? Was it to put an end to a feudal mind-set and paradigm? I don't know. I suspect, even though he was a true blue-blooded aristocrat, he was too gentle to push through his personal agenda for national development by smacking down customs and traditions in a manner he felt was too rude and too crude. Hence, the simple administrative imperative - do our job responsibly for the money we receive at the end of the month. Period. No need for hand kissing (causing foul smelling steam to emanate), sweet smiles and prolonged good-byes. Everything that was done and practised by Tun Razak was based on a simple unwritten rule (though this was never stated, true to the character of the generally taciturn, performance-oriented man): the collective powers of the three branches of government, the Legislative, Executive and Judiciary, can and must mean that they be used as ' a shield and not a sword.' Ya, bidang kuasa yang dipegang oleh kesemua cawangan pemerintah mesti merupai perisai untuk melindungi rakyat bukan sebagai pedang untuk menyerang warga dengan sesuka hati.

Malaysians can now decide with this Syabas issue and all other past misadventures god-fathered by BN whether we have had a shield to protect us all along or a sword striking at us for want of a good life by a wayward bunch of greedy sleazy thieves.
