Leadership to save this country

Each time I write something uncomplimentary about Anwar, some people will say I have a blinkered view of the man. Sorry boys- never met him. Know of him, but never met. So I have no value judgment of the man.
I am afraid such counters are manifestation of empty hopes rather than hard-nosed realistic assessment. We hope somehow, through some miraculous and fortuitous turn of events, Anwar can escape the dragnet that is fast encroaching on him. Perhaps these people don't see the convergence of deliberate events that conspire to put Anwar where some people want to- behind bars. There is nothing fortuitous or happenstance about the whole thing. They are deliberate. This is real politik.
I think Anwar himself knows his days are numbered. He may probably be intimating to friends saying goodbye. Aku nak habaq selamat tinggai kat hampa semua. And the friends may have retorted jokingly by saying- lain kali hang nak bantai cina mana, hang panggil kita semua.
Here is the problem though. Anwar behind bars is as much a problem as he is outside. It will still cause BN so many seats. So the question how do we deal with Anwar?
Anwar's good fortune is brought about by the incompetence of UMNO. It messed up the video clip issue by way of mishandling it. It shouldn't have given a semblance of involvement or relationship with the video. We should have let this Eskay chap do it by himself. But the UMNO president felt compelled to meet up with Rahim Tamby Chik and Shuib Lazim, thereby giving the impression that UMNO is involved. UMNO has implied knowledge about it then, if not direct.
UMNO multiplied its stupidity by releasing clips involving Mat Sabu and the latest about Johari. Who are the ignoramuses surrounding the UMNO president?
The proximity of sequential releases of the clips would now suggest that only an organization with sufficient clout and resources can muster all the sideshows. All 10 fingers point toward UMNO. If we put up both up our legs or spread-eagle them, all 20 fingers point towards UMNO.
How do we deal with Anwar? It's not about doing something to save UMNO. It's about doing something to save the country. Anwar and all interested parties have to think about placing the country in capable hands now.
The irony is, the answer in dealing with Anwar for the purpose of saving the country lies with Anwar. Unfortunately, Anwar has no place in the equation for now at least. The best solution is for him to give up the de-facto leadership of the opposition in preference to someone else with the respectable clout. I have written some time ago, and I wasn't joking about it, perhaps the best way for Anwar to hasten the downfall of the BN government is to allow himself to be jailed. Then the government will fall and if he is jailed before the downfall, he will be out in no time.
By mid-July Anwar will know his fate. Judging from the case being built up against him, he is likely to be the government's special guest. Special guest is the title of the book once written by Aziz Ishak.
What will happen then? There will be a leadership vacuum in the opposition group. Anwar has been the unifying factor this far. He is a crowd puller but not necessarily a vote puller. If that happens, the opposition parties will have to look for a leadership material sufficiently credible and respectable to become the rallying point.
That person if one is around has to step up to assume the mantle of leadership to save this country from gross mismanagement, fraudulent management, corruption, widening income disparities, re organize institutions of governance, dispensing justice, stemming corruption and all that.
Who can that be?

The mess created by PKR during their party election has provided sufficient ammunitions to inflict a severe blow to the party. however the PM choose to waste all those ammunitions in the sex video, the anti-bersih rhetoric by Perkasa, UMNO youth and the numerous pro UMNO NGO.

I believe the PM has been misled by his enemies within his own party, to resort to these actions which will lead to his own downfall. The intense power struggle within UMNO is the main reason why what is happening now is happening.

The victims of these power struggle will be the country, and ordinary wage earners and powerless rakyat like us, who are struggling everyday to make ends meet.

The PM is certainly beginning to target his efforts toward the younger set. He knows the younger voters will be key toward BN's survival.

So, he's not as stupid as some of his sycophantic hangers-on think he is.

I remember some of these.

1. Watch Champions League dressed like one of the guys in a MU shirt.

2. Trying to be hip, sending out SMS greetings, getting on twitter, etc.

3. Using his son's in a radio show, plus the token Cantonese greetings.

But his efforts come across as faked, and forced.

If he really wants to get to the young, he needs to show he has the balls. The best way is to do this is to engage the young in a no-holds barred live telecasted town hall meeting. And answer all their questions candidly.

But we know BN politicians got no cajones.

If Anwar is sullied material, how much better is Najib, Rahim Thamby (RISDA), Isa Samad (FELDA), Mat Tyson and Chua Soi Lek.
Najib is carrying a string of scandals with him - Port Dickson, Altantuya, Submarine, an extravagant wife etc.
If you go to the ground many care a damn about all these allegations about Anwar. It has now turned negative.
Profusion suffocates and people are just fed up with UMNO for demonizing opponents,.... even Mat Sabuis not spared.
UMNO has no credibility and no body believes a party with zero credibility.

Anonymous,  1 July 2011 at 10:46

Most of the current Umno leaders are not only stupid but also corrupt. Their stupidity are self-inflicted due to much corruption. The thirst for corrupt money makes them kleptomanic and this affected the brain.

Umno members are also bloody stupid. They have in their rank a respectable and credible person in Tengku Razaleigh who would not only put Umno on the right tract to reformation but would also put the nation back on the right track to excellence. Yet, they doesn't want him and instead plumped for the incompetent Dollah and currently the corrupt and scandalous Najib to lead them. Stupid malays with the mentality of a peasant.

The debilitating effect of the country being led by corrupt and scandalous UMNO leaders is that the malays as a race will become less competetive and in terms of intellectual and economing standing will become a poor second class citizens compared to the other malaysian races. Malays will continue to rely on handouts and subsidies.

OneMalaysian,  1 July 2011 at 10:46

Dear Sakmongkol

“Who can that be?”

His name is Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

If Pakatan Rakyat wins and Anwar has become the special guest in His Majesty’s Prison, TRH is the only choice there is. But you might say he is in UMNO. That may be so, but the exigency of the situation, where PR has managed to dislodge BN but has no credible leader acceptable to all, they will reach out to this gentleman prince because he is good, clean, competent and honourable. He will not be the long-term leader because of his age. His job is to stabilize a shocked nation that has been ruled by just one party for 54 years. His other job would be to meld this guerilla outfit called Pakatan Rakyat into a viable government. The tasks are not easy, but he is up to it. He will be helped by many defections of good UMNO leaders to this new government, an inclusive, unity government. And there is a place in this new government for good men like Sakmongkol.

As for Anwar, if he has helped to topple this inept and corrupt government, he would have done what he was destined to do. Anwar do not have the management skills to govern. He is, though, an excellent change agent. Who, may we ask, has the skills to bring PAS to sit with DAP, and to cooperate to change this government. His peccadilloes are really not important when we view the history of this country from a long perspective. History will be kinder to him compared with the inept leaders in UMNO and the biased, order-taking judges. History would credit him with creating a true 2-party system, a system that we desperately need if our democracy is to flower, and if we are to fulfill our potential as a peaceful, tolerant and prosperous nation.

bruno,  1 July 2011 at 11:27

Dato,Some Anwar supporters are solidly behind him.No matter what Anwar does ,to them he can do no wrong. It is like they are married to him.Anwar has make many major mistakes after 3.08.08.If Anwar was a CEO of a private company he would have been shown the revolving door for the so many blunders he made.

The Umno GOM has been trying to fix Anwar for some time now. They might get Anwar for this Saiful sodomy 2.It is very possible they have fixed the medical report good this time.At least Umno seems confident. The sex video is of no significant whether it is or isn't Anwar. So they have to get Anwar on the sodomy 2.

If Anwar should go in it is better now than later. Then let the three major parties choose who they want to lead PR.Then the new leader can have time to settle down and consolidate the PR.Then if they win the GE they form the FG.Then their PM can asked the Agung to pardon Anwar.

The latest Bersih rally fiasco has really hurt Umno in the balls.Abrahim Ali and his Perkasa has gone over the line.To have an anti Bersih rally to cause a confrontation and threatening bloodshed. Then Umno youths send out its biker gangsters aka mat rempits to surround the PKR hq.They even threatened to burn it down.

Just imagine 600 gangster bikers converged all the way from Shah Alam to the PKR hq unhindered by the authorities. How the hell this can happened in a civilised country as Malaysia.Has the Umno GOM lost its marbles to governed. How can they allowed their little sibling Umno youth to embarassed, shamed and humilate them infront of the people.

bruno,  1 July 2011 at 11:28

Just recently the HM ordered the police to arrest 30 civil activists, half of whom are women and minors, and charged them of acts of communism and waging war on the Agung.Don't these morons know that the communists have already laid down their arms. And how can 15 men and 15 women wage war against the Agung. How stupid can a fool be.

The HM and his merrymen can only arrest law abiding citizens and ladies who practised the world's oldest profession. When it comes to real rowdy thugs like Abrahim Ali and Umno youths 600 gangster mat rempits the authorities lost their bolas and maybe their batangs too.

The Umno GOM is seem like having two sets of laws. The lembak one is for rowdy thugs from Umno. The draconian one is for law abiding citizens and women. This abuse of power has caused a lot of anger among the people, and it is going to hurt Umno badly at the ballot boxes.

While all this is happening Najib is very quite.I think Najib has lost hope and has given up,because he is in a lose lose situation. If he lost in the GE he lost.If he win in the GE the factions will finish him off.So he loses too.SO either way he lost.So it is better to lose the GE so nobody but PR wins.I agree with Najib.

While giving due respect to Anwar for unify the Pakatan Rakyat , agreed with Dato , Who can that be to lead the nation ?

As seen in history the downfall of a dynasty has got to do with the bunch of ignoramuses surround the King and this too is clearly visible in the current situation..

Leader of these days clamoured for the spotlight and sought the ADULATION of the people.

"when you give a feast , invite the poor , the maimed , the lame , the blind. And you will be blessed COS THEY CANNOT REPAY YOU" .

IF WE TAKE CARE OF OUR CHARACTER , OUR REPUTATION WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSLF !

Who can that be , of cource we dont need a Leader who spends too much time on matters of too little importance.

By the way , isn't the current farce is a Blessing In Disguise AND A SIGN FOR A CHANGE ?

ODB.

Anu-War is the King of Pain. The Thaksin of Malaysia.
Always his spectre hanging around us,though he is really nothing.
He puts UMNO in a quandary. To ingore him, he's the elephant in the room.
Dia juga kuman di depan mata.
That's what he really wants. Always in the radar of Malaysians.
Sending him to jail for you is a no-no. Letting him free, he did misdeeds which is nforgiveable and which other Malaysians will be incarcerated if they did it.
When it comes to him, foreign experts certification is not believed. But in Teoh Beng Huat's case, even Porntip's verdict is acceptable.
There's one law for Anwar, one law for others including the government.
My heart goes out to Najib. He's doing so many transformations for Malaysians. But still he is accused of corruption, murder, cronyism etc. He just can't win.
Anwar's sins are all transfered to UMNO as though it's UMNO's doing.
UMNO is not involved in the sex video and still people link it to the party.
You can see UMNO leadership ignoring him. Making him non-existent.
Thus the Bersih Demo to keep him alive.
Stop it but still his people will make sure he's always on.
Great to be Anu-War, did all the dirty job and someone else is being blamed. Cukup hebat Papa Izzah.
Dr Mahathir dear, why oh why did you bring him to the fore-front. Should left him to be kaftan-clad, chapal shod Abim voice.
Anwaristas are not thanking you, doc. Instead they are vilifying you.
Sak,you mentoned about that man finding an alternative to him.
Am I hearing right? For him, there's no other but him.
Or how about you being that saviour?
Ya Allah, please save our country from Anwar.
How do you solve a problem like Anwar?
Dead or alive, he is a big irritant!

Anonymous,  1 July 2011 at 12:57

Without a doubt, it is Ku Li. But first he has to leave UMNO which is something difficult for him (and you) to do.

Anonymous,  1 July 2011 at 15:54

Someone said that politics is all about perception.

Perception-wise, Anwar seems to be the only one that has the experience, capability and charisma to be PM if and when the opposition managed to take Putrajaya.

Of course, reality-wise there are other leaders capable of taking over his place. But if such a leader is anointed as Anwar's successor, BN will go to town casting aspersions on him.

Similarly, even now if the opposition announces a shadow cabinet, BN will cast aspersions on its members including bringing in racial and religious elements. With the mainstream media under its control, BN will have a field day demonizing Anwar's successor or the shadow cabinet.

So if Anwar is out of the picture; maybe it is better to wait for the opposition to take over Putrajaya before announcing who's who in the new government.

Remember Perak... who has heard of Nizar Jamaluddin? Yet he turned out to be a capable MB.

Cross the bridge when you reach it; otherwise you might lose the perception war...

A: '(grins, curls a lock of hair on finger)..Ahem, i heard from a reliable source someone missed me? Sir, do you have any idea who that would be?'

B: '(grits teeth, cringes, puts on a straight face)..Sofea, i haven't the slightest clue. Who could possibly miss anyone at this darkest hour of our nation?'

A: 'That i have to agree, Sir. The Umno leadership seems to have gone completely bonkers, stark raving mad in fact.'

B: 'And one wonders what was going on in the mind of the home minister, if in the first place he has one. Kekeke.

We must be the first country in the world to ban tee-shirts of a certain color. Mind you, that's Barcelona and Boca soccer teams. What about the Maybank logo background, McDonald's M, Digi's mascot, even road traffic lights and kickapoo joyjuice? They even arrested an MP wearing a plain yellow tee while on his rounds in a wet market....(quickly examines own teeth in mirror)..'

A: '(eyes roll in disbelief)..It's alright, Sir. They are an, erhh, unnatural white.

Meanwhile, our dashing blogger has asked a hard question. Who can that be, he asked?'

B: 'Dashing?! As dashing as my intelligent and wise eyebrows?! Sigh. Ok-lah, my bendera is up. Note it's putih and not kuning.

Let me try to reassemble my disheveled thoughts which you've just derailed.

We start with the video. So this ex-masseur, ex-@#! and ex-something got together and submitted a video. The ex-masseur admitted he was in fact seen in the video and by the looks of it almost choreographing the session. Isn't that puzzling? First, why would a major politician allow himself to be video-ed in such a compromising situation, knowing full well the video if fallen into wrong hands could finish him off what more used to blackmail him? Second, why was the ex-masseur in the room acting like he was a porn director? Third, why was the video in black-and-white? Fourth, why didn't the T-team put the lady up as evidence? Fifth, who released the video into the web when it was given exclusively to the PDRM? Sixth, why didn't the PDRM investigate that remiss and report back? Seventh, why did the judge televise it outside the courthouse? Eighth, did that team find the Dartmouth college experts themselves and if yes, how much did they pay them for the digital forensics and from where did they get the money? Ninth, why was the report not released publicly so that all can know how the experts could say they were "99.9 percent" sure it was the same man, or was that just from the lawyer in which case why was it not expunged as frivolous and vexatious?

walla 1 July 2011 at 16:33

2

And here's the crusher, Sofea. Tenth, it's easy to read the works of Dr Hany Farid, one of the experts from Dartmouth college. He uses a computer database of minor digital differences to forensically analyze samples by special algorithms. But there's a loophole in the process of submission. Let's scenario that out now:

"T: Prof, here's the video. Can you see if the man in it matches the man in these photos?

Prof: Ok..(does tests). Yes i can say both are the one and the same."

Now, Sofea, did the judge get any proof that those photos given were themselves not remasked in the first place? You see, if the video has been doctored, then the photos by which the identification was to be matched could also have been doctored. These photos were not analyzed. Unless proven otherwise, that's reasonable doubt, and the onus of proof resides with the defendants, namely the t-team. They didn't submit the proof that the photos were not doctored. So how could the defending lawyer, and perhaps the judge too, have come to the conclusion that the man in the video was the man walking in the street?

Since it is unlikely the Dartmouth college professors would themselves have known about the man, and it was so reported in court that the video was only matched to the photos GIVEN by the same client, it follows they had done just that - matched man in video given to man in photos given. In fact, i am puzzled what had happened to that last 0.01 percent. Why, the image doctoring was not perfect, ke?'

A: 'Ah, i read you, Sir. But let's for argument sake say it was the man. What next?'

B: 'Let's say you can convincingly answer those ten questions with incontestable proof, and even more. Let's also say we can excuse the moronic steps taken by Umno and its yes-men as the eager-beaver juvenile antics of cojone-challenged opportunists. I ask back - "so what?"

Now, you may say we can't have a deviant leader for the country. My answer again is simple - "don't then."

But, Sofea, for us, everyone of us, from the Umno leadership down to the common folk to say that, we must first be damn sure of other things as well. Because this particular case was adjudged by the same system which had adjudged otherwise other cases. Because that man with the experience he has had with the powers would not under any circumstance have been able to trust any institution after him - from Umno to the court to the police.

walla 1 July 2011 at 16:33

3

What other adjudged things are we talking about? Let's just take the biggest bug. It was admitted in court she had pleaded for her life, saying she was pregnant. Yet she was shot in the left side of her face in merciless murder. Then she was stripped while still showing life. And shot again in the head. Then plastic explosives were tied to her body and she was blown to pieces. Was it because the perps thought she could be completely erased from the earth in much the same way her immigration records had been erased? They even said they thought she was Chinese. Meaning they didn't know where she was from or who she was. Therefore they had no personal motive to finish her off like that. Which means they had killed her under instructions. Now, Sofea, anyone in his or her right mind would have asked who had ordered the hit. This is not a local murder; it is an international matter of justice. It is not something one can hide by letting time and deflection take their course. It sticks on the conscience of every one of the 28 million citizens and ten million voters in this country.

Sofea, my question to you should you decide to accept it is why didn't the head of the present government for once even until today step in and express his displeasure how that question of who had ordered the hit has not been answered. Displeasure because even the prosecution didn't ask it, the defense lived with it and the judge walked away from it. By not closing the case satisfactorily, there's blood on everyone's hands, Sofea.'

A: 'Sir, I see what you mean by the system adjudging by two different, diametrically opposite, standards.

We have this sex case and it is pursued to the ends of the earth. We have that most heinous murder of a young pregnant foreign woman, and who was behind the order is still left hanging in the air while no one has seen the faces of the two perps who have been given the death sentence.'

B: 'Some will split hairs saying we are trying to craft a deflection here. No, i don't think so. Because it is not just about leadership to save this country. It is about leadership to save our souls.

Secondly, if we ask something like leadership to save this country, we must ask save the country from what? Now our blogger has answered that. So it remains to ask again why is the present government so against the Bersih rally when it is just the rakyat walking to say they want election reforms.'

walla 1 July 2011 at 16:33

4

A: 'Sir, one VP of Perkasa has just suggested that Perkasa and Umno Youth should also walk for clean elections.'

B: 'Sofea, why only say that now? Because they finally realized they have all along been naked from having no reason in the first place to hold the second rally, is it? Trying to be smart-alecs, is it? The rakyat are no fools. This type of shambolic bullshit has no place except in dark crevices, home of baygonable insects and critters. Their strategy is just to make the simple folks confused about what the Bersih rally is all about by mixing up the identities between Bersih and Perkasa and Umno Youth.

I'm just wondering how much the man who had thought of this is paid every month. Can he live with his no-conscience for even one more minute or has he already sold his soul in pretentious service to his warlords? Pretentious because he has managed to persuade himself it is for the "good of the party"?

Now my train arrives at its station. We have been arguing about what looks like a non-independent judiciary. That means its managing government lacks integrity. And how are governments formed? By election. So why is Umno so against clean elections? Because they want dirty elections, is it? Because they have finally realized after Sarawak they cannot win if the elections are clean? Because they must force the rakyat to think anything by the Opposition is bad for the country?'

A: 'Some of the MSM have highlighted concerns by retailers and the tourism ministry that the rallies will affect them.'

B: 'Then the economy must be really sclerotic for such desperation, Sofea.

So let's say the effect is their loss of RM100 million. How does that compare with voting in a bad government for the next five years which then proceeds, as it has been doing every five years, to fleece the rakyats' money?

No prize for saying how much that has been. Ask the two taib's, and that apanama, and just the two guys living in expensive state mansions requiring half a billion ringgit just for maintenance if they are voted in for just two terms - ten years at rm48 million per year - while our electricity meter readers and young postmen cannot even afford a girlfriend because their basic salary is only rm600-750 per month. What, they're indon maids, is it?! Sofea, sorry-lah, i've run out of expletives today.'

walla 1 July 2011 at 16:34

5/5

A: 'But, Sir, let's say the question is posed to you - who can it be from the Opposition if they win the next GE to lead this country? How would you answer?'

B: 'Let me answer it like this. It doesn't matter, Sofea. We have been too focused on personalities. See how twenty-two years of one has led this country to this state until its peoples are still thinking it must be a personality. We only think like this when we fail to recognize what has happened in the last GE. The rakyat have matured. Their young have come together independent of race until today all just want clean governance. And you can't get clean governance from dirty elections. If politicians play dirty, it must be because they want to win badly. Ask yourself why. It must be because they see their wins as the road to wealth. Now how can such politicians serve the rakyat honestly and the economy with integrity if they are only thinking of cheating and stealing? Politics in reality is a thankless lowpaying task. No good person will go into politics to make money for himself. After all, isn't it money from the people he should be serving?

Now, mechanics-wise, leaders will still get elected. So they must obey the clean-and-fair governance demands of the enlightened rakyat. Thus, to answer your question - it doesn't matter, Sofea. Any leader who meets those demands can lead because he or she will have the support of the rakyat. Otherwise, walk the plank, shown the door, C5 perhaps. It's not person-power anymore. It's people-power.

And do note that Umno which had appeared to start eating humble pie after GE12 has come back as the great arrogant ogre, its original form, all over again, even worse than ever!'

A: 'Now that i'm hearing that, Sir, i've been wanting to ask you a personal question.'

B: 'Eh, got food to come with it? I'm thinking of nasi kunyit. Grief, what am i saying?! It's kuning in color. Yieks!'

A: 'How about some mee sedaap with half an egg and some fried onions, your awesomeness?'

B: 'Anything, my loveliest of the loveliest. But erh let's just keep that between the two of us, ok?'

A: '(eyes roll, lips twist) If you were given the chance to be the next PM, would you accept it?'

B: 'No, Sofea. I'd give it without second thoughts to my friend, Sakmongkol AK47.'

A: 'Ohh! Why, Sir?'

B: 'Because it's the right thing to do.

Also, because you said he was dashing. Aiyah, women!'

Dato' WHO IS THAT????????

donplaypuks 1 July 2011 at 17:03

I am reminded of a quote attributed to Deng Xioapeng when Kissinger asked him "What do you think about the 1789 French Revolution?"

Deng's inscrutable but classic reply was "It's too early to tell!"

And that's the problem in M'sia. We think that the Opposition has no future without Anwar when we make the mistake of analysing these major issues after tiny fluctuations in space-time continuum.

There is a long battle ahead with or without Anwar. Maha Firaun understood that clearly when he said the Malay vote is split 3 ways.

More than that it was contingent upon Sarawak and Sabah accepting in a missionary supplicant position the con perpetrated upon them by West M'sia. But recents events suggest they are not going to take it lying down anymore. That forebodes ill for UMNO/BN.

Don't forget, Communism lasted 70 years. How long more can a corrupt, racist and religion bigoted minority leadership stand?

we are all of 1 Race, the Human Race

Maybe Anwar's daughter?

Anonymous,  1 July 2011 at 17:12

Who is that person to replace Anwar? It is a tough one but would still be a far better person than anyone from UMNO.

Anonymous,  1 July 2011 at 17:34

If not Anwar, who? Is it such a difficult question? At the moment even you sound better than the present UMNO line-up. So, its okay if someone new or someone coming up or someone tested in the political scene takes over the reins of the country. At the moment the government is on autopilot anyway with the added encumbrances of corruption, racism, greed

No matter how grudging eventually even UMNOputras could accept him.

Do have to look far. Zaid Ibrahim fits that position. Invite KITA to join KITA and problem of leadership solved.

Anonymous,  1 July 2011 at 21:31

Anwar is not perfect and has done lots of political mistakes before. However for now, he is still the best bet to be our Prime Minister. Compared to those leaders in UMNO/BN, Anwar is just too good for them. No doubt about that.

bruno,  1 July 2011 at 22:06

Dato,BE very careful with your posts.Soon Umno GOM gestapos might come knocking on your doorsteps.Cheers.

Anonymous,  1 July 2011 at 22:08

Dato, reverting yr earlier story about Ibrahim Ali: perhaps you should focus more on the real economic hitman menacing Malaysia - our very own Domingo Cavallo - Idrisingo Jalavo!

Like Argentina, Jala is going to make us debt-trapped with projects like MRT, HSR, Mega Towers, etc..Projects we dont need and can ill-afford, like John Perkins confessed. His other 'reforms' also going to simply destroy us and bring much misery to our country. Lots of misery, mark my words!

By 2020 or even earlier, we'll have the poor lower class, and the poor middle class. Just look at Idris Cavallo's salary projection (ETP Chapter 2 page 88).

By 2018, he'll probably be conveniently promoted to papal position at the IMF just in time to miss the 'fireworks'. Not difficult for him to find another Azmil to take the rap at home.

your observations are correct. You have vocalised the unspoken thoughts of many in this country at the moment. I think many people have an idea who is the most appropriate person to replace AI once he is the guest of Disneyland. But the opposition, ie PKR may not be mature enough to accept THE most suitable opposition leadership as it is still politics driving the decision. I forsee a shift in the real balance of power within PR once AI is in Disneyland.

1. Hardwork - Success in life.
2. Greatness - Destiny.

Winston Churchill is a "nobody". It his destiny to lead in time of crisis.

It is the crisis where his greatness shine else he will be a nobody.

Md Nizar is a viable candidate to lead the opposition. PKR is a party that is full of politicians that were former UMNO members, and has a loadful of scandals, while Malays would never except a Chinese Prime Minister in Waiting from DAP. Note, since PR is a viable opposition party, the opposition leader in parliament must be the Prime Minister candidate in waiting, ready to take the PM's post if pakatan wins the federal govt. Thus, since PAS is a very clean party, the opposition leader should come from PAS. The guy should be a professional , ERDOGAN so to speak, a liberal, not an Ulama,so that he will be acceptable to all races. I see Md. Nizar, or Khalid Samad fillng those shoes. But then again, neither of them can evr capture Anwar's magic. however Anwar has far too many skeletons in his closet. Remember, there is no smoke without fire. Thus its time for him to be jailed, for the betterment of Pakatan. Then let a new leader take over Pakatan to reinvigorate it !

I am a big fan of Najib.
He tweets, got an active facebook & a very great looking blog. And he does it all on his own.
He even prefers tweeting to sweet nothings with the wife in bed.

He does walkabouts and turun padangs.During the meet the people sessions he eats the normal food that Rakyat eats.He even got a special Mamak corner.

The man also takes the trouble to fly all over the world to meet Malaysians.

Now he also have plenty of Jom Hebohism in his playbook.

The only thing missing is he does not smoke, take vdrugs and go rempitting with the Rakyat.Who knows..maybe soon?

By the way..all the real work is left to Jala of course. And Jala is well versed in how to manage especially after having squandered a few big billions in MAS.Am sure he will use the same Jalanomics to help Najib lose even more for the country.

Yes..we are indeed well led by competent leaders. The only problem is the direction i.e the lights in the tunnel syndrome.

Anonymous,  2 July 2011 at 00:05

Actually can't see any potential leaders either from BN or PR.But it does not really matter who leads as long as Jala is not in the team.
Wow..thats a strong forehand from Murray

Dato' Sak
Tiada rotan akar pun berguna. Tiada Anwar? Ramai lagi yang ada. Kalahnya UMNO bukan kerana PR yang kuat tetapi UMNO itu yang sakit. Untuk calon PM Biarlah rakyat yang tentukan...siapa? Itu urusan "sejarah".

Dato,we all know that third world countries and authoritarian governments sponsored thugism, gangsterism and terrorism.
But have you or any of your readers ever heard of civilised and democratic governments besides the Umno GOM sponsoring thugism, gangsterism and terrorism.

Salam Dato, bagus posting Dato kali ni.... pada pendpat saya...tak semesti nya bila ketiadaan Anwar Ibrahim Pakatan Rakyat akan bungkus & jgn kita pandang rendah dgn Datin Seri Wan Azizah ye..mungkin Datin Seri Wan Azizah bukan sprti Anwar yg lebih dilabel kan sbgai crowd puller stiap kali ceramah tapi yg pnting sekali mngkin Datin Seri Wan Azizah boleh menyatu kan Pakatan Rakyat malah mungkin blh jadi PM wanita yg pertama bg Malaysia, jgn kita sangkal kn dgn pengalaman atau

"I'm just wondering how much the man who had thought of this is paid every month. Can he live with his no-conscience for even one more minute or has he already sold his soul in pretentious service to his warlords?"

That man sold his soul one night at his own crossroads, boss. Musta been at some humid hour in the early morn at some simpang ampat just after the North-South highway toll. Heheh. He's being paid by the pound of public flesh. Beelzebub's got him by the short n curlies. There's no turnin' back now.

Now who the heck is this Walla fella. And why is he asking his 10 difficult questions. Can Quiet Despair at least answer one convincingly? Keeping quiet is also an answer you know.

independent writer 2 July 2011 at 03:06

I want to answer your question - HOW TO DEAL WITH ANWAR?? I suggest if you rent a movie 'SOUND OF MUSIC" AND LISTEN CAREFULLY TO THIS SONG, YOU MIGHT GET WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

In the movie, the Nuns are so exasperated with Maria, who is a nun but does not behave like a nun and they keep on asking the same question - "HOW TO DEAL WITH MARIA?". Hopefully, after you watch the movie, it can inspire you to slander Anwar more and more. The price of greatness in today's world is the ability to slander. Don't you agree? After all the function of writing is to promote our own agenda, no matter at what price. At the end of the day we must see the world not as it is, but as we are. Right?

This is the lyric of the song:

The SOUND OF MUSIC Soundtrack Lyrics

the Nuns - Maria Lyrics

sHE climbs a tree and scrapes her knee
Her dress has got a tear
She waltzes on her way to Mass
And whistles on the stair
And underneath her wimple
She has curlers in her hair
I even heard her singing in the abbey

She's always late for chapel
But her penitence is real
She's always late for everything
Except for every meal
I hate to have to say it
But I very firmly feel
Maria's not an asset to the abbey

I'd like to say a word in her behalf
Maria makes me laugh

How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Maria?
A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown!

Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her
Many a thing she ought to understand
But how do you make her stay
And listen to all you say
How do you keep a wave upon the sand

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?

When I'm with her I'm confused
Out of focus and bemused
And I never know exactly where I am
Unpredictable as weather
She's as flighty as a feather
She's a darling! She's a demon! She's a lamb!

She'd outpester any pest
Drive a hornet from its nest
She could throw a whirling dervish out of whirl
She is gentle! She is wild!
She's a riddle! She's a child!
She's a headache! She's an angel!
She's a girl!

How do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?
How do you find a word that means Maria?
A flibbertijibbet! A will-o'-the wisp! A clown!

Many a thing you know you'd like to tell her
Many a thing she ought to understand
But how do you make her stay
And listen to all you say
How do you keep a wave upon the sand

Oh, how do you solve a problem like Maria?
How do you hold a moonbeam in your hand?

"Leadership to save this country"...coming from ivy league the brain buster ....blogger sphere.
It won't be decided here.

During the civil rights movements (usa) , less then 3 % of blacks were activist...the rest were active living.
Malays in their taking care of their own home will always ,likes the blacks , has pool's of leaders.
Where are they in the organization chart.?
It is time Malay push people like Ibrahim Ali ala Dr M on its way.
Malay need Malay Champion.
Annuar( not a champion ) will be dust.Sooner or later.It 's O.k.

Umai Lalapan 2 July 2011 at 10:32

I would think the best person has to be Nurul Izzah. Not because she is anwar's daughter, but because she is highly articulate, supremely intelligent and most importantly down-to-earthly humble. She and her posses, the likes of nik nazmi, tony pua, mujahid yusof rawa and the younger generations of opposition leaders would likely usher malaysia into a more tolerant society, hopefully free form oppression and corruption. And personally I would also like to see KJ working in synergy with them.

Dear Dato Sak,
it is like what the ever wise Walla wrote so succintly:
"It doesn't matter, its people power now............ leaders will still get elected... they must obey the clean-and-fair governance demands of the enlightened rakyat. Any leader who meets those demands can lead because he or she will have the support of the rakyat. Otherwise, walk the plank......"

It is no longer cry the beloved country, madness reigns in the current government of the day!

Dear Walla,
expose yourself (figuratively of course!), it would be an honour to meet with you and talk shop, sans the lovely Sofea if she allows it, or not, ahem.

Your voice, and that of Dato Sak and many more, are the voices of reason and conscience. Constitutions are framed based on this sound foundation.

I really look forward to the day when Walla unveils himself.

sincerely,
PowerOn

your rationale for some of the idiots you listed??

It is counting before the eggs are hatched but still a worthwhile endevour. I vote for Wan Aziza aided by a capable DPM as the glue until things are settled and stable when a replacement can be selected without too much infighting.

Anonymous,  2 July 2011 at 13:41

Some readers here suggested Kuli as the next credible leader?
I say NO!! NO!!. Why?
Kuli may be PM material but in times like this he has to come to the fore with a stand leaders should take.
He cannot be hiding some where in the bushes and appear to enjoy the fruits of other people's labour.
At a time when yellow T shirts are deemed illegal and people being threatened with ISA and Emergency rule, a leader must step forward and be heard. Religious sermons are being abused.
Opportunists cannot deserve to be made leaders.
We need brave men.

greenbottle 2 July 2011 at 23:28

malaysia has gone to the dogs...we might as well have rosmah for pm...at least it will be a comic relief... you people who think ku li is the person to lead malaysia must be stupid...might as well ask mahathir back.

Bn is already too much inbred...and if you know a bit of science inbreeding is the worst thing that can happen to a population of any species...or organization...

the only way for malaysia to get out of this madness is to kick BN out in GE-13...

then and ONLY then the idiots in umno will perhaps come to their sense and do real house cleaning and may be become robust and idealistic again...so it's a win win situation for malaysians...

Anonymous,  3 July 2011 at 16:15

Dato',

I think Dr. Mahathir would be a logical choice to replace Anwar. Why so? Well, for a start Dr. Mahathir has selective amnesia. He may, when asked to replace Anwar, has a sudden memory lapse forgetting he is an UMNO member. Secondly I'm sure Dr. Mahathir relishes the thought of leading the opposition against Najib. He knows that UMNO under Najib is finished and it would serve him well if he leads the opposition to be the new government.

Gosh, for a moment I thought I was writing an episode for "The Twilight Zone".

NURUL IZZAH !!
or Lim Guan Eng... while Malays would never except a Chinese Prime Minister, plead him to convert to Islam.
