If Khalid Ibrahim stays on as MB, Pakatan may lose Selangor

There was an article written which says only Khalid can sack Khalid as MB. This is because the King has power to appoint but not sack Khalid as PM. Unless of course, the house (in this case) the DUN Selangor passes a vote of no confidence to Khalid.
This is what the DUN must apply its mind to next, if push comes to shove. If Khalid refuses to resign, the house must pass a vote of no confidence. The permutations involving UMNO and BN are not relevant. its PR vs. BN.
if BN lends its support to Khalid, then that can be taken as a sign that all this while Khalid, the consummate deal maker that he is, has something worked out with UMNO.
If a vote of no -confidence is carried out initiated by PKR, it isn’t a good and nice thing to do. PKR will be seen in a bad light; after having chosen your man for the MB’s job, PKR reverses and humiliates its own man by way of a vote of no confidence.
In my mind, PKR must first set its house in order. The rancorous party elections notwithstanding, if Khalid loses, he must resign. This is because he no longer enjoys the confidence of a majority of the party members. He should be intelligent enough and principled enough to do the correct thing. Khalid may say party position is not the same as MB’s position.  He must recognise that he derives legitimacy from the fact it is the party that nominated him as MB. Once he loses their confidence that is the same as being asked in a nice and dignified way to resign.
I hope Khalid would not want to go through such and ignominious exit. He should do the gentlemanly thing. If PKR asks him to resign, as a matter of moral principle he should step down.
I have sat down with Khalid for an interview. I have formed a negative impression about Khalid from that interview. I concede that my impression is not relevant in Khalid’s view. He came out as a person who doesn't care about the opinion of others. But he has portrayed himself as a man who attaches a high premium to principles. Because of that, he should therefore quit his job when his party asks him to.
It is up the PKR’s Mursyidul am- Anwar Ibrahim to enforce some discipline. Although Anwar may say he is only an advisor, everyone knows he is the de facto leader of PKR. Otherwise, what are we (the other partners in Pakatan Rakyat) doing with a leader with no substance?
How UMNO and BN with 12 seats wish to manipulate their  position or to align themselves in any permutations is irrelevant. The fact is: PR has 44 seats. PR must act as one- pass a vote of no confidence. Even if the speaker cannot vote, plus Khalid and BN’s 12 votes, PR has still got 42 votes supporting the vote of no confidence.
If Azmin, the expected winner of the deputy president’s post is also not acceptable, it is impossible that there is no one else who can become MB. There must be someone with some credibility, a Selangorian and who has position in PKR. Looking back at Khalid, I have not seen a sitting MB abandoning his existing seat to move elsewhere. That must be an indication he does not even enjoy support in the previous constituency.
The man who replaced him and was not even expected to win but finally did is a person worth considering as the next Pakatan MB. I believed Khalid’s replacement at the Ijok constituency is a well-known doctor who would make a good MB. He is a Selangorian and holds leadership position in PKR.  Why doesn’t PKR consider him as a compromised MB candidate?

Do not be so cocksure. Pakatan will lose GE14. And to rub it in half their candidates will lose their deposits.

bruno 16 June 2014 at 09:29

Dato,as far as the eyes can see,PKR's leadership is kadang kabut.Everything is upside down, from the top to bottom.Even their party elections is like a circus full of clowns.Their top leadership all have to go if PR wants to even have a chance of giving a good fight to Umno/BN.

Looking at the big picture of selangor politics, it should be the turn of Pas or Dap to be MB unless PKR clean up properly.

Unknown 16 June 2014 at 10:01

He is much better MB compare to most AMENO MB exist nowaday. So stop to write this type of article. End up you are the one who contribute the loss of Pakatan in the next GE14.

two cents views.

Anon 09:25

You are so stupid.Half of Pakatan candidates to lose their deposits in GE14? Even your Umno masters will laugh at you.Hehe.

Khalid should resign when requested to by his party and PR. This is the basic principle in politics. If he digs his heel and does not want to go, then there must be something sinister going on in his mind for sure.

His continuing stay could be a plan to destabilize Selangor from within with the controversial projects (Kidex, water issue).

Santhira Kumar,  16 June 2014 at 12:20

Dear Datuk, I totally disagree with your analysis that of Khalid loses the party election he must resign as Menteri Besar.
These are two separate things. He need to resign only and only if there is a motion of no confidence in Selangor Assembly.

PKR is a joke..self defeating strategy that will drag down Pr in the next GE.. Just be honest for one second how much DAP or PAS leaders have their trust on PKR leadership..DAP clings on democratic equality to all citizens regardless of race creed and religion..PAS with its theocratic state agenda.. And what is PKR other than a multiracial party in its form and UMNO MCA MIC in its substance.. political struggle relying on a figure or cult is doomed to fail..

Dear Dato Sak,
So now even Rafizi Ramli and YB Hee of PJ Selatan is jumping in on the controversial Kidex skyway fiasco and to their credit, took an opposing stand on the project as compared to their party comrade MB Khalid who is hell bent in ramming this project through against the wishes of the populace. Its good to know that the YBs will only take a strong and unmitigated stand on issues when they sense that support is waning by the day especially from voters in klang valley.
As it is Dato, there is already a widespread whispering campaigns among Klang Valley folks to spoil our votes come next election not much as a sign of support for Bn but rather as a strong protest warning to PR especially to MB Khalid on his pompous and arrogant attitude that is described as 'lagi umno daripada umno' by many. So this also explains why the offer of ten buses by your party to ferry outstation voters back to vote in the recent Teluk Intan by election were not taken up? Poor Dyana, she could have won just by the votes fron Ansonians from Klang valley! Should PR not take heed of this warning and do something to remove Khalid and rescind all the tolled highway projects in the piping in Selangor, then be prepared to warm the opposition bench come next election

TAG 16 June 2014 at 13:02

Yes I would agree. If Khalid has to go there is no better candidate than the good specialist doctor who represents Ijok.Schooled at the country's best, the Royal Military College(Maktab Tentera DiRaja - Cawangan Putera, Selangor needs a fair minded, highly intelligent person, educated and trained on the principle of serve to lead.

Anonymous,  16 June 2014 at 13:05

The whole country is getting weary of Pakatan - DAP, PAS or PK. Just look at how pathetic are their ADUNs or MPs are performing. Not any better than BNs back benchers. The next GE - DAP, PAS and PK will be sent packing or sure.

Krishna 16 June 2014 at 13:07

You are right about one thing. If PR continues to be in a disarray as they presently are, they will lose Selangor for sure. Once BN takes over, they will make sure they will never lose it again unless they are stupid enough not to recognise the needs to stay in power. People only wat a good honest government.

Anonymous,  16 June 2014 at 13:42

If u go by dato' Sak suggestion that TS Khalid should go if he loses Timb presiden pkr election then the winner should be the new MB aka Azmin Ali..

If this happens, then we will have BN like administration in Selangor. Looks what Azmin has done in PKNS (The PJ Sentral/Gapurna issue) as example for things to come..

Khalid is not a politician and that is why many want to get his head roll.

He is the best and sincerest man around to lead and put Selangor in the right track.

Without Khalid Pakatan may lose Selangor.

- from a non-poltician.

Askm tok
Khalid kena ganti dgn khalid jugak...
Kena gantikan dgn khalid samad ....
Dlm pimpinan pr Selangor yg Melayu Islam yg terbaik adalah beliau...yg jelas daya kepimpinan politik..
Ustaz2....susah....sebab nak jaga "ustaznya"......

Khalid as MB must show his mettle in handling the current issues like the Bible travesty. How can little napoleons go against the law? Who appointed them to their positions? Is this how they bite the hands of those who financed them?
Let PM and his team think again and again before supporting these kinds of 'lawless' extremist elements who do not uphold the Federal Constitution and constitutional monarchy, and backstab their benefactors at the first chance. These people just want to hog the limelight and their glass walls. All right thinking citizens, including the constitutional monarchs, irrespective of religious beliefs and race are aghast at what these extremists are doing and do not support such convoluted statements.

syedhs 16 June 2014 at 16:41

I fully agree with anon 16:45..
"Khalid is not a politician and that is why many want to get his head roll.

He is the best and sincerest man around to lead and put Selangor in the right track."

And this has been my observation as well. Politicians do not blend well with non-politicians who do the job well. And this is double whammy which render politicians even worse.

Well I am not naive about politicians.. but what is the use of doing stuff if they are not beneficial to civilians?

Anonymous,  16 June 2014 at 19:14

Dato, in the light of what you say this again highlight the discriminatory policy of the country. Selangor government has many illustrious and capable leaders. So many that there is actually a spoil for choice. But precisely because of the country discrimination against other races, they don't qualify because they are non bumiputra. Sad isn't it. It's just like saying Obama is not qualified to be the President of the US because he's black. Imagine if the American disqualified a person from being the President because he's a Muslim. Suffice to say, Malaysia will be the first to make a public display of condemning the Americans.

Many of us are disappointed with Khalid. Like me, I was very supportive of him at the beginning and was hopeful that as a technocrat he would make a better MB than the true-blue politicians. And many of us were rooting for him on his clash with Azmin. But atlas, what a disappointment he turns out to be. He lacks courage and conviction.

bruno 16 June 2014 at 20:58

Khalid do not need to play politics. He can treat his job as MB as a CEO of a public or private company. All he needs is to get the job done.

To me the Kidex project is no issue.Of course in any development in any city or township of additional infrastructures will have objections from residents.Their main concerns are clogged traffic during construction.Additional eyesore of concrete structures or more white elephants. The values of their properties and blah blah and blah.

The water issue.Well,Selangorians do need water, don't they.During the recent taps turn on and off, weren't they pissed off.Of course they were.So what is the problem if Khalid wants the water deal to go through? The opposition of the water deal is coming from his own enemies in his own party. Why?Because those guys selling are from Umno.If the sellers are cronies from PKR will there be noises.

What Khalid has to do are such small things that are coming from Mais or Jais.Like the 7/11,church raids and bible seizures. These are the small things that attracts public scrutiny. These are the small things that deemed him helpless and powerless. At times Khalid has to rolled up his sleeves and go bare knuckles.

What is the point of Khalid who wants to be known as a very successful coporate figure if he is view as a weakling by his subordinates. His reluctant to issue pink slips or marching orders or to bonk the behind of those trouble makers from Mais or Jais are the main causes of his very low favourables.

Whether the Mais or Jais are under the Selangor gomen is of no excuse. If they are not and are under the Sultan or Federal gomen,he has to take the fight to them.Win or lose it does not matter. What the people wants is to have a MB who is strong and can stand on his own two feet.

If the people thinks that he is doing a very good job,is fair and a strong leader,it is not easy for his enemies to chase him out.Maybe it holds some truth when the writer said that it is only Khalid who can sack Khalid.

bumi-non-malay 17 June 2014 at 05:49

IF Azmin of PKR and their scumbags wants the MB position and bee seen of LEADERSHIP QUALITY......then start marching to JAIS and MAIS to Raid their office and FREE the bibles to win over Malaysia hearts......otherwise you bunch are no different to Khalid of PKR in cahoots with Sultan Agong agreeing to the JAIS - MAIS actions. We know UMNO-ISIS-BokoHaram-JAIS-MAIS terrorist is playing a game. We want to put an END to their STUPIDITY!!! Do it secretly and after that announce the freed bible..... DO YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO BE the Menteri Besar??? @#$%^&*( ....... or do something that shows you have taken the bible from JAIS-MAIS office.......then either UMNO-JAIS-MAIS ISIS Terrorist Cult will have to proof they still have the bible or the Police will then start investigating WHO HAS the REAL Bible...... You can then say it has been given to the people of Sabah-Sarawak.......ask the police to search all over Malaysia.....when called for questioning... this is called wedge politics...and you have trapped UMNO ISIS Boko Haram JAIS-MAIS terrorist group in their own game.....

bruno 17 June 2014 at 05:59

When a government is weak like the Najib federal gomen and Khalid state gomen this is what will happen.Little Napoleans are having a fiesta.Little Napoleans are thumping their noses at these weak leaders.

And just look at the IGP or AG.They are just as helpless as Najib and Khalid.Nobody pays any attention to them and whatever they say are turning on deaf ears.

If these leaders do not buck up soon Malaysia will become a lawless cowboy country like Somalia.

Just look at Irag. With a weak and helpless PM all hell have broken loose. It is a free for all now.

Soon the little Napoleans will wreak havoc and with weak leaders maybe we might have to call in UN peace keepers to maintain peace and order. Then Malaysia will become the laughing stock of the world.

Jika mahu perbetulkan PKR maka berbaliklah kpd amalan protokol parti utk meminimakan kekalutan dalaman PKR. Jika pucuk pimpinan mengabaikan susunan protokol parti bermakna mereka sendirilah mengundang masalah yg lebih besar kelak.

Anonymous,  17 June 2014 at 17:26

the man who replace him in Ijok is with khalid...haha selangor is gone come next election...wake up DAP and PAS do it quick...

Anonymous,  18 June 2014 at 09:38

Anything but BN.

Anonymous,  18 June 2014 at 18:49

Dr. Idris is a good man. I'm pretty sure. Met him personally. But I reckon there is some problem appointing him too. Even how good a man he is, he is being surrounded by handful of opportunists ala UMNO Baru members especially in his original PKR Cabang in Segambut and Wilayah Persekutuan. Those are his election machinery workforce and supporters. The system on how a leader being elected in PKR simply sucks, the same fellas is the BN goons. They are everywhere to find opportunity to fill their ambitions.

Anonymous,  20 June 2014 at 14:59

I'm not sure why so many oppose MB's Khalid ways of doing things. In my personal view, he is running the state as a CEO instead of a politician. At times, CEO makes decisions that won't please all but is beneficial in the long run. Those politicians that oppose him should ask themselves what have they done for their own state or things that are beneficial and measurable to the rakyat instead just all talks. Anyway, certain decision won't be able to please all parties and certain small issues can be blown up to become a big issues by certain people.
