UMNO and the Reasonable Malay

The reasonable Malay doesn't ride the Clapham Omnibus. He gets around in the LRT or the successor to SriJaya Bas. He travels in his beat-up Proton. But he reads in between the lines. He knows the BS from the mainstream media. The reasonable Malay now reads Harakah, Roket and PKR news. He attends ceramahs by ABU.
Why does the PM and UMNO president procrastinate in naming an election date? He’s enjoying a good personal rating. UMNO is flushed with cash. He says, he feels like meeting HRH the Agong immediately on seeing the `huge crowd’ assembled at stadium Bukit Jalil. I hope he didn’t ask the Minister of Misinformation to do a headcount for that occasion. Are all lawyers bad at counting or is it Rais alone?
So why does he not name a date? He is the longest PM without his own mandate. And if we were to go by the logic of the ex MIC leader who says he will contest against Palanivel- then, Najib can also be described as an illegal government leader. Yes, he actually said that because Mr Palanivel had the MIC presidentship handed to him and not ELECTED, so Palanivel is an illegal party president. He says he has support from thousands and thousands MIC members just like the UMNO president.
I hope for his own sake- the UMNO president be wary with the numbers given by Rais who seems to have been infected with the Indian Numberititis disease. I mean no disrespect to Malaysian Indians; but think about this. Assume 3 million Malaysian Indians- MIC says it has 1.5 million members, PPP says it has 800,000, IPF says it has 900,000; Nala says he has 600,000 in his pocket. Either the Malaysian Indian is a member of all these parties simultaneously or the political parties count those Malaysian Indians not born yet. Rais has been infected by the Indian Numberititis. It’s a horrible judgment clouding disease that causes hallucinating euphoria. And loss of hair that forces the person to do a side-comb to cover the barren patch. Has Samy Vellu been holding back the secret to eternal full-crop of hair? Dey!
The main reason is not because he fears the feedback from the ground. He has been receiving padded and curry-flavored reports saying all is well. The minister of Misinformation downplayed the opposition’s chances consistently  by 30% so as to doctor a favorable report pleasing to the ears of the party president.
The real reason he delays and delays, huffs and puffs is because he fears revolt in UMNO. The incumbents insist they are winnable. Would any anyone dare replace warlord Tajudin Rahman for example?
In all divisions he is facing potential revolt. Even if he pays the incumbents lots of money (UMNO has tons of it), the people supporting the replaced incumbents will sabotage UMNO. More so the incumbents who feel they are winnable but are humiliated because they are not chosen. The eager beavers who thought they would be chosen but sidelined will muster whatever they can to sabotage UMNO. This is the only reason why the UMNO president is delaying the election date.
Will the 1 million plus UMNO members who have gone from the Dark Side to the Bright Side come back? Maybe 5%. That still leaves more than 1 million UMNO members who will vote for Pakatan Rakyat.
The UMNO president cum BN Chairman goes to Sarawak to plead for an extended lifeline. The people of Sarawak are not easily fooled any longer. Taib Mahmud is an old but wizened geezer, keen and sharp to the deceptive maneuvers of Najib. Wasn’t Najib the UMNO president who repeatedly humiliated Taib Mahmud asking him to retire quickly? The president of a party who wasn’t able to get 100% winning record in 2008 talking down to a president of another party who got 100% achievement record? That’s why Taib Mahmud sent word through an emissary, saying we shall see who leaves office first.
Najib can’t win over the reasonable Malay. The reasonable Malay is the person riding the LRT or the successor to Bas SriJaya. He reads in between the lines and is able to sieve through all the BS parlayed by Ustazah Umi Hafilda, Ezam Mat Nor, Zulkifli Nordin, Hasan Aqidah and swami Nala. The reasonable Malay knows that in Utusan Malaysia, only the notification of Solat Times and 4 digits and Toto are true.
The reasonable Malay is not easily blinded by the fetishized sense of patriotism hawked around by Perkasa or to mouth-foaming gesticulations of Hidup Melayu by any of the UMNO leaders.

Because the reasonable Malay knows it’s all much thunder but no rainfall.

Haha Sakmongkol. Good one. Sounds like you are describing our boy QD. Unreasonable boy drving around chauffeur driven. Dont know the existence of bus or LRT. Only knows how to spend father's money. Good model of anak Umno. Let him be here and one day he will know his stupidity. Tau langit tinggi rendah bila Uncle Najib tak memerintah. Smart fella but did not use his good education to think.
Woi boy, come I bring you see how the poor lives. They are the true Malays. Not you or the mamak you admire.

It would be a kinda tough fight if Najib gets sacked or he resigns honorably over so many scams.

Then UMNO will turn blue screaming they got ground, they're doing something on corruption. It's not high enough ground. UMNO can never get the higher ground anyway since they don't need enemies but themselves.

But the Wang "Selam" scorpene was taken what !

It may be a little tough fight if Najib resigns but maybe the Wang Selam scorpene and other wangs selam all over including in all the sungai wangs will sink UMNO !

The reasonable Chinese (and Indian) likewise also is fully aware of all the BS flowing from MCA and MIC. The fact is that we the simple folks know what is right and what is wrong. It's as simple as that. Corruption is wrong. Abuse of power is wrong. Using the police to brutalize the common folks are wrong. Utilizing hooligans to terrorize other from holding gathering is wrong. So you see we can differentiate what is right is what is wrong unlike those who have achieve power and conveniently forget this simple fact. Now you know why so many people are piss off with their government.

OneMalaysian,  7 June 2012 at 19:58

Dear Sakmongkol

By “reasonable” Malay you must surely mean a reasoning Malay, a rational Malay, a thinking Malay.

Yes, I think a large section of Malays are reasonable. Why would they be otherwise? When they think things through, they would realize that if Pakatan Rakyat wins, the majority of the MPs would be Malay simply because there are more Malay seats than non-Malay seats. It would be a new coalition of clean and high-minded Malays in charge compared to this current corrupt, inept bunch.

The reasonable Malay will realize that the institution of Malay monarchy is still well and alive. The Malay Rulers are protected by the constitution. And Malay customs would continue to flourish. If the Malay rulers are in power, so would Islam, the official religion as provided in the Constitution. And Malays would continue to speak Malay or any other additional language they so choose.

None of these rights and privileges will be taken away by the new Malay-led government. Why would they want to do that? What is there to gain?

The reasonable Malay can see that the new coalition – Pakatan Rakyat – does mean to bring about a better future for the Malays and for all Malaysians. There will be no cronyism. There will be no corruption, at least at the top. Wealth will be better distributed. Rural development will finally get some serious help. And the poor – 40% of all Malaysians, but mostly Malay – will at last get helped.

I am sure more and more Malays will come to realize all this. I just hope there are enough reasonable Malays to make this happen. GE 13 hinges on how reasonable they are.

I don't get it - demonisation of Bersih when Malays constitute the biggest crowd, cutting off Unisel loans - all Malays.

UMNO tidak takut Melayu tanya - Ini Tanah Melayu ke Tanah UMNO?

umar,  7 June 2012 at 21:33

Indians are in every party : pro BN and pro PR.
So if you add up their total , it does not match the total indian population in Malaysia. The number is definitely larger than all living indians. So, you well said it. They have included the yet to be born !
It is such a bad state for indians in other matters too.
There are no proper statistics of Indian temples in the country with land titles or not.
There are no actual figures of indian students in all universities. Ask any party, they will shout their figures.

Jong 7 June 2012 at 21:34

LOL!! Another hilarious piece but for sure this won't get into Utusan
Malaysia, and yeah I agree 100% only Solat Times, 4-D and Toto notifications are true!

Hehehe, nearly fell off the chair reading it!

More Malays will join the Reasonable Malay Club after UMNO froze PTPTN loan to Unisel students.
Its the Malay students who will suffer.
This is called demi Bangsa blah blah blah.
UMNO is using its own rope to hang itself.

Sak & all, Salam

Your article is so brilliant, such sharp sense of humor - counting the Indians not yet born or either a member of all these parties simultaneously or the political parties.

And loss of hair that forces the person to do a side-comb to cover the barren patch.

will share your article with my lawyer friends, definitely they're going to laugh so much and treat me to a fantastic meal.

i just want to keep smiling, just don't know what to write. Most importantly, the reasonable Malays are thinking Malays, rational, mindful and confident, absolutely amiable toward fellow Malaysians as well. Rebuilding Malaysia together ! Thank you, Salam.

bruno,  8 June 2012 at 00:59

Dato, the first thing to do is to clear the minds of those less successful and less educated Malays, who felt insecure without Umno, into believing that the opposition PR can do many times better than Umno.

These are the Malays who are keeping Umno/BN in power.Because they are scared of their future and livlihood and are dependent on Umno. They know that the Umnoputras and their cronies are corrupted to the core, and flashing their ill gotten wealth at them.Showing off their mansions and expensive cars.

But these people do not care as long as they get their crumbs and 500 ringgit come election time. They think that if the opposition come into power they will end living on the streets or in the slumbs.

The Indian membership in MIC is like Umno's Malay memberships. These political parties are following the example of Bernie Madoff like in his ponzi scheme.Their figures do not add up as they are cooked.Like Umno,MIC has hundreds of thousands of phantoms too.

Anonymous,  8 June 2012 at 07:43

Unreasonable Malays consider Utusex, Berita Hairan, TV3 Suku and all major media like the Holy Quran, all content therein is true and can not be disputed. For Unreasonable Malay... those Malay that read and believe the other major media are Malay apostates.

QD is an example of an unreasonable Malay. Although Pandit Kutty, founder of UMNO Baru clearly says the party has been rotten from the head to the tail, but he still defended the party.

Valid! QD is unreasonable Malay! Pandit Kutty and together with Najib were the head of all unreasonable Malays. They know that UMNO is the shit and stink, but still want to swallow stool.

All unreasonable Malay is mentally ill because they are eating shit! They are worse than mental down syndrome children who fail to distinguish between shit and food.

The question reasonable Malay has to ponder is whether with DAP things be secure? Reasonable Malays think of course not except very few. PKR is multiracial.Corrupted Malays ca be overthrowend by majority reasonable UMNO members. I believe in that way and Malaysia will forever save under the proven concept of multiracial BN.

Salam Dato,

Yes in Utusan : Waktu Solat true, Sukan Bolasepak True.

UMNO Baru is not resonable .. but they have 1000 reasons to deny or "NO COMMENT".

walla 8 June 2012 at 11:01

Our reasonable Malays are the heart of this country. Without them, the road to chauvinism and injustice would have been shortened, what more with Umno tolls vigorously erected along the way.

An astute observer noted that right now two-thirds of our Malay voters are poised to vote for Pakatan in the coming GE13. This means they will vote for even DAP so long as doing so delivers a Pakatan win. In the coming days, that two-thirds is going to increase dramatically because many of the retired Umno old-hands are themselves abandoning Umno to join PAS and by their doing so, they are creating shining examples by their action that they have the awakening courage to walk away from the lies and hypocrisy of Umno towards a new resurgence of national conscience.

This tsunamic shift in allegiance cannot be stopped because our reasonable Malays no longer trust or believe in Umno. They might have believed in the old Umno but not this one. They have gone beyond the calculative handouts and soporific but hoaxing coaxes.

And what is today's Umno whose DNA was corrupted by that M-the-M? Everyday a new worm wriggles out from the woodwork.

You know they depressed the angle of their tear gas cannons by 30 percent. Instead of shooting up, they lowered their aims to shoot down and right into the Bersih 3 rally marchers. That's how our brave Malay engineer lost an eye. That's how thousands were bullied that day. Why is Umno's Hishamuddin holding back the release of his videos? Why is Umno's Haniff of ISA infamy heading the panel when he had already sinisterly labelled the marchers without fact before the event had even taken place?

People who marched that day saw plain-clothed blues with names but no serial numbers on their tags. A video caught one who had breached the barricade; during the CSL-LGE debate he was with the other SB officers. Was all of this because one senior PDRM officer, ambitious and of the same mould as M-the-M, had before the event said the marchers will be 'smashed'? Anything you didn't like about that event - look at the agent provocateurs and heavy-handedness of Umno the bully.

Someone did a calculation of the area of Jalan Tun Perak and based on the jam-packed area of each marcher, came to 100,000 for that stretch alone. At least two times that were on the other stretches. Thus, 250,000 is not a small or unreasonable number that depicts the real presence of our reasonable Malays and non-Malays of this country who have had enough of Umno. It is certainly bigger than the 'tens of thousands' that was used as a phrase by one MSM to describe the turnout at an Umno event, and that after the MSM was exposed as bluffing on past numbers by none other than the great Sakmongkolians in this blog. Right? The MSM of Umno have met their match right here.

walla 8 June 2012 at 11:02

2

Rais should take more indonesian sup buntut to prime what's left of his conscience. It is also good for increasing strength to carry what is round. People know the youth turnout couldn't have been 1 million. They also know this event of RM10 million had cost at least RM600,000 just for cleaning and toilet services. That's how Umno spends your money. They will next say it's sponsored. Does any reasonable Malay think sponsors will dish out hard-earned corporate money so easily unless they are beholden to Umno with view to future contracts and licenses?

The same argument you can lay on what the french court has revealed. Someone high up had asked for USD1 Billion just for a meeting on the scorpene deal. Isn't it then reasonable to conclude the french supplier would have inserted that amount into the price so that when the submarines were purchased, the bill sent to Treasury would not only have increased beyond market rate but also that amount PLUS the perimekar and other commissions? AND the other money paid to view the documents beforehand? This is not just corruption. It is also treason. Our RN gents put their lives on the line to defend our country and this is done to them, what more their supervisors sit in front of them when they fill their postal votes?! What's that word? Tiukauw!

So, this apanama Najib swaggers about his youth meet. Then his Khaled at the behest of the Umno cabinet punishes the students of Unisel just out of spite against Pakatan for wanting to give free education. Can we not see what hypocrites the Umno idiots have become?! Pakatan wants to abolish PTPTN because it will not be needed when they give free education on winning Putrajaya and thus federal funds for education but the Umno idiots uses the part 'cancellation of PTPTN' and conveniently omits the other part 'free education'.

Education is a federal function. The funds for national education come from all the taxpaying rakyat including the enterprises and the land. Umno is now blocking our poor Malay students from completing their studies by blocking funds to them that came from the rakyat. What's that word, again? Meh, i so forgetful these days.

I can only spare two old bicycles and one kidney. If you want, take them but give the money to the Unisel students. They don't deserve Umno's kind of crap juvenile bullying arrogance.

walla 8 June 2012 at 11:02

3/3

And that is why all reasonable Malays can understand why Noh is so against the Pakatan Selangor govt cleaning up its state electoral roll. If nothing to hide, why the need to block what is the right thing to do? If wanting to be the best democracy in the world, why all this hoohah against checking the electoral roll? Let me tell you what you already know - Umno is going to cheat in GE13. It is going to make use of thousands of instantly naturalized bumiputra Indonesians to vote for Umno, and try to win the two-thirds majority by winning the marginal seats; then after GE13 it will either buy or kill the Pakatan movement. And that will be the end of the Rakyats' wishes for this country.

Are our reasonable Malays, Umno general members including, going to stand idly by and watch this Umno animal use instant Indonesian bumiputra's on our Original Malays of this land? You already see it in the fierce competition they are leveling on your simple businesses in the market place. Today it's like that. Tomorrow? Your BR1M handouts will be reduced because there will be more instant Malays to be given. You still want to thank Umno, kiss their hands, bash up the rakyat? Is that why that idiot said it's 'do or die' for Umno? Is that why the other pondan said we must be 'gentlemanly'? XXcuse me.

What about the Barisan components? SUPP is having internal troubles. The MCA said it will win 22 seats. People chortled on hearing this. They responded: yes, 2 plus 2, or if you like 2 times 2. And that also not sure. And MIC? Where's that Palanivel? What can MIC do for its members that Gerakan can't?

So if this coming Monday, then you will know that the RCI on Project IC is a scam. Judging by past 'records' of other RCI's, it's impossible to execute remedies with this proposed RCI in time for GE13. Even the one who 'has little knowledge' cannot deny it's impossible. So it is ALL a bluff to deflect attention, defuse focus, placate with sandiwara while continuing the CHEATING.

And that's the only way Umno will ever win GE13. By cheating.

Before our Almighty, how can any Malay, let alone our reasonable ones, accept such a thing?

That's why the ballot papers must be serialized and the serial numbers must be pre-announced for each station. Then the papers must be shuffled so that each voter can pick his or her own ballot paper so that the serial number cannot be identified to the voter for confidentiality of voter identity. The indelible ink is only for voter. What about the voter's ballot paper? At the same time all the ballot boxes must be independently scrutinized and audited before counting. Please-lah, wake up and guna otak sikit.

Cheating is the motto of Umno. Bullying and Stealing are next.

Enough?

To unreasonable Malay QD,

Which one affects the dignity of Malaysia? Demonstration actions by BERSIH fighting for freedom and justice of election system or having a prime minister who said by the whole world involved in the scorpene scandal & murder and the PM have no ball to defend him self?.

Please respond as a reasonable Malay ! TQ

For decades ordianry Malays are made to think they have to depend on BN for their security, well being and survival.

This dependency had destroyed their true characters and potential capability and ability....and to live a more rewarding, interesting and meaningful life.

If you are not free, including mentally, you are not happy/satisfy.

RM800million a day. Malaysia Chronicle:

“For the first decade... Malaysia has lost a staggering RM1.08 trillion (US$338 billion = RM800million a day) in illicit outflows which is the fourth highest in the developing world…
The Global Financial Integrity (GFI) reported in January that RM930 billion flowed out of Malaysia from 2000 to 2008...

The report elaborated further by stating that the increase was “at a scale seen in few Asian countries” .Economists Sarah Freitas and Dev Kar, who is a former senior economist at the
International Monetary Fund, stressed that these illicit outflows are basically illicit transfers of the proceeds of bribery, theft, kickbacks and tax evasion." In other words, it refers to corruption money or black money that is obtained illegally

C. Putrajaya only had 6,008 voters but Opposition-held Kapar had a staggering 112,224 voters, 17 times more than Putrajaya. Deceit; gerrymandering; State-controlled media; vote buying; phantom voters; postal votes; useless ink, new voters from illegal immigrants, public
machinery used to support votes for incumbent crooked government....

D. You need a giant civil rights movement akin to that of great Martin Luther King. It is glaring apartheid in Malaysia under the label of ‘Bumiputra’. How can a race be treated superior to another, especially when they work the least. The crime of apartheid is defined
by the 2002 Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court as inhumane acts of a character similar to other crimes against humanity"committed in the context of an institutionalized regime of systematic oppression and domination by one racial group over any other racial group or groups and committed with the intention of maintaining that regime."

On 30 November 1973, the United Nations General Assembly opened for signature and ratification the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid.[1] It defined the crime of apartheid as "inhuman acts committed for the purpose of
establishing and maintaining domination by one racial group of persons over any other racial group of persons and systematically oppressing them."

E. Malaysia has neither transparency (non-corruption) nor real human rights, neither freedom of the media nor true democracy. The blacks are only 14% of US population, if Obama can be US President, an Indian can be a Malaysian PM…think about it! How tragically you’ve been treated.

Look how efficiently and compassionately Khalid responded swiftly to overcome the latest miscalculated onslaught by the umno leaders to freeze student loans for Selangor owned Universities.

PK is the government that the Malays must be decisive to vote for : Melayu sayang Melayu, sayang India, Cina and orangasli and mutually.

This is unprecedented that a govt as young as it is, under TS Khalid's leadership, with such remarkable trust, collaboration, affection and servitude to Selangorians to Khalid by its exco of mutiracial leaders, can be that stoic, most dependable, in serving its citizens in the most trying time.

It only clearly shows Melayu sayang Melayu, sayang semua bangsa. Bravo !

Anonymous,  9 June 2012 at 12:48

Malays being generally Muslims are no different from others. For instance, in the Middle East, they love Western technology and freedom. Americans themselves love the same thing in a reverse order, they value freedom first.

If you look at gadgets, Malays specially those highly urban will be the first to have them while those elsewhere won't be last if they have greater mobility.

An interesting aspect of Malaysia is garments or particularly Malay attire...they can innovate and produce attractive creative designs.

All these are indicators for want of freedom through which they gain greater accces to products and services, IT for instance. There are good Malay programmers around. The better ones are stiffled.

The problem is UMNO people or more exactly the illicit, corrupt wealth pedlars. And in such situation if you deny freedom...informaion...print and virtual media...expression...you will successfully supress and repress and exact monopoly on the wealth peddling. This can only be done by despotic, authoritarian rule ...as that of UMNO.

So how do you gauge what these "Malays" feel and think and want? As far as UMNO is concerned you don't! You make or force them to do so you can steal more. Its as simple as that.

The enormous amount of money botak Rais has spent for MCMC and the wastes in RTM and his so called cultural activities are no honorable values to elevate Malays, least of all others except those of same ilk, and UMNO,MCA, MIC, PBB /BN will then dictate life ...all for ill-gotten gains.

You can't do this anymore. You could lie to the French government and contractors and "selam" some commission but you can't hide. Malays and everyone else now have greater freedom and liberty than before.

But this needs to be told to people, you have to go ask them and do statistical work to define the facts. Rais botak don't do this. That's why he's dishonest. Very didhonest, Mate ! :-))

You think they care about Sultans and rulers who behave like they do? They like it and in the process dishonor Malay culture and adat.

It is not coincidence that Malays "seem" stupid and feudal. It is by suppression via despotic rule: government machinery and institutions are locked in, the private sector is locked by laws that chain Malays particularly and the rest of Malaysians generally. It's high time non Malays stop degrading Malays and calling them stupid. Now DAP represents the greater Chinese voice so do the other components of PR of Malay and Chinese and Indian and Dayak and Kadazan voices.

The MCA Chinese cronies and UMNO cronies are shacking it in bed. Doesn't it seem ridiculous that the greater general impression of liberal Chinese wear on MCA and Gerakan and they get free rides?

Bring in more governance, rational scientific notions into our lives. Democracy is out there and its working with the rakyat but even now small sections of reformists supporters believe in government systems and notions under UMNO/BN media stranglehold. It's Citizen Diplomacy that matters when political parties get fucked up but where reforms agenda coincide there is fusion - the fcuk with unity!

When are are we going to further rediscover ourselves ?

Minta maaf kalau komen saya menyentuh berasaan siapa siapa kerana saya kurang tahu sejarah Islam. Sekian Terima Kasih.

pretty obvious, the current gov is bankrupt of ideas and ill managed. oneyone who can help to run down the oppossition will be greatly rewarded, though they are retarded in ideas and zero contribution to nation buildings. all these bustards are appointed as chairman of glcs and as senators. just mind bogling

Wa wee, AK47, this time you really hit the nail on the head. Najib is like a dog with its tail between his hind legs. He is so afraid, because the problems now are too big for him and his cousin to handle. Too hot a potato so to speak. Even Dr M thinks the normal Malays can't think for himself, a fallacy in the mind of Tun. I believe Malaysian public has matured and the two-party system is here to stay. Way to go!!
