Penang: Maulidur Rasul 2010

Ok, there was indeed a letter from Penang government. It stated this year's Maulidur Rasul procession is cancelled. In its place, the government will hold some other events- perhimpunan ummah events, majlis tazkirah, prayer sessions etc.
I wasn't aware of the letter until just now. Because of that, someone said that I am an idiot ex adun. Ok, this idiot ex adun has this to say:-
So what's the big deal? UMNO shouldn't get worked up over this issue. In states controlled by BN, there were a number of years when no processions took place. In their place, events such as that announced by the Penang state government were carried out.
Muslim's devotion, love and affection to Prophet Mohammad were not lessened when we did not go on a march.
So if UMNO led governments cancel maulidur processions, can we call them anti Islam? I say, their inaction and inertia over the issue of kalimah Allah is more devastating than debating what LGE did or didn't do.
The institutions that support Islam, the practices that strengthen Islam, adopting religious values for social advancement, spiritual awakening are more important than debating whether this year we are going to march or not.
Tell you what; ask the UMNO ketua Bahagians to demonstrate their religious piety by conducting their own Maulidur Rasul Marches. If Lim Guan Eng bans them, then call him a dictator and Islamphobist.
Hello, the way to defeat Guan Eng is to show you can build a better mousetrap.

I have high regards for his intellectual capacity, but in this case he is playing to the gallery trying to be champion of the malays not about putting things in the right place and in its proper perspectives. In the end everything is politicize.

Dear Dato, I agree with what you write until I read the last sentence. I am not a LGE supporter or apologist but are you calling him a rat?

Dear All, please think in a different way. We don't want at one time our new generation will not aware the existance of Maulidur rasul as it will not be rememberance anymore. This is what LGE is trying to do. Please wake up. LGE is trying to die off the maulidur rasul momentum slowly.

But this does not exonerate guan eng from lying about saying he did not ban the marching procession.

He lied to cover up the mistake he made afrer realising the error.

And now the letter had surfaced.

He can't run away from being called a liar.

A CM who is prone to lying.

And this is not the first time he had caught lying too.

Bottom line, the bigger issue is, a Penang CM who can lie at a drop of a hat.

Scary thought huh?

spot on dato
Be a practising muslim.back to the basics. But then religion is a tricky issue.U tell them to be a practising muslim and they get all worked up but they scream and shout about jihad in palestin.Ask them to jihad di tanahairku MALAYSIA dato.
The last time around when miss rice came visiting by in kuala lumpur i witnessed some very enraged young men who wanted to kick the uncle sam visitors out of the country.Ironically after much sweating and swearing, many of these young men took a much needed breather cum rest at KFC and Mac D
Now u see a different group of young men agitated and enraged because the Maulidur Rasul marching has been cancelled and replaced with a better activity
Do u think there will be another pit stop at KFC and Mac D after the fiery speech and show of anger and hate?

Dato'

You have verified the authenticity of the letter?

And what about Lim Guan Eng's clarification stated in http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/124419?

There were previous occassions where BN led governments had indeed replaced such procession events with other programmes, but these was no 'protest' and instead so much media publicity to tell the Malaysians about the 'change of plans'.

You asked the right questions, but I know those who 'brew' problems and constraints to put some politicians in a tight spot will not bother about repeating false news...as that is their only 'halal' modal.

halim, you ni sekolah sampai darjah berapa?

Syamil 15 February 2010 at 00:51

Dear Dato, please do not be so tough on halim. unlike in your day, contemporary Malaysian education does not impart one with the ability to understand metaphors in English.

I think that if enough people feel strongly about the march, they should organise their own march, and the state government should allow for it. Let people then decide whether they want to march or gather. I think that would be a good compromise solution.

"Hello, the way to defeat Guan Eng is to show you can build a better mousetrap."

Why the sarcasm, Dato? I was just interpreting your last sentence.

come on man.. i believe u r still a politician. u know its not that simple. ok, there r bn controlled states that dont hold prophet's procession marches n its have been accepted by the rakyat of the state all the while. every muslim know that the marches is not a necessary way of rendering our luv to the prophet. but in the case of penang, there has always marches held for the occasion, its already become a right. when its cancelled, it felt like the right's taken away. u know what happen when rights taken away from any soceity.
u r a smart ex adun (i hope), instead of asking umno to hold their own marches, why dont u ask lge to cancel other religions procession in the future and see what happen after that.

cheers.

rexuan 15 February 2010 at 14:40

i take back my words.. u r a smart and intelligent man.. my apology dato'.

cheers..

Dato,
Saya bersetuju benar dengan Dato mengenai 'perarakan Maulidur Rasul'. So what, if it's really cancelled if there are other better programs arranged in replace of the procession. The muslims in Malaysia are good at 'show offs', more Islamic then you?? In reality, the one's who shout about all these are the one's who hardly pray in a day. Just for the sake of showing how Islamic they are, they will jump the gun when need arises. Islam is about JUSTICE. If one can't rule a country with justice then don't talk about Islam. Under UMNO, Pahang's Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan (YBK) 'closed shop' because all funds went missing?? Where is Pahang's YBK. Why is Pahang govt not giving shares to all poor in the state in the various state agencies that are involved in Agriculture. Good example, LKPP,LKTP,Kurnia setia, and many other agriculture base GLCs. Where does all the revenue earned from these companies go???? So, please tell perkasa headed by the frog to talk about justice for the Muslims and all. Stop harping on racial issues. Telling the malays, we are losing power to other races, is a bIG FAT lie. Federal Constitutions gurantees malay rights more then the katak from perkasa. Katak is not accepted into UMNO cause of the various UMNO warlords demand in Kelantan, so katak is being promised 'something'by UMNO in replacement of his herding in poor, not so smart malays into the hands of UMNO.
So,please UMNO via katak's perkasa stay off from religion because when you are lying to the people, you are commiting the biggest SIN TO ALLAH. ALLAH IS WATCHING YOU.So watch OUT!!!

What I watch tonite on TV3 regarding the cancellation of Maulidur Rasul make me sick to the stomach. The news reporting belong to the drain. That is I am no fan of LGE.

I wonder what kind of political mileage the TV3 news spin master hope to gain. Are they really commited to the procession that they will include it in @jom heboh programme. Please let be honest.

Hate hypocracy

WHAT SAY YOU 24 February 2010 at 14:09

yeah.... i do agree with you dato'. these people are hypocrites. though the Jom Heboh was declared haram by a few muftis, it is still allowed to be held. how come nobody in UMNO does something about it?
