The elder anarchist.Part 2
1. One of the most contentious and disputed issues raised by Mahathir is his view that multiracial Malaysia is against the Malaysian constitution.
2. Hence the calls to form and describe Malaysia as a multiracial country is against the constitution.
3. To Mahathir, Malaysia is a Malay country. The non Malays can physically cohabit the country of course, provided they willingly subsume their culture, language to Malay cultural expressions.
4. The plurality of cultures is possible because our constitution allowed it. To rant about it now , I think is bridge under the water, the rice has become porridge as it were.
5. By Mahathir's logic, the fault is with the constitution. Then, change the constitution. Rename Malaysia. Peninsula Malaysia ought to be renamed federation of Malay states. East Malaysia ought to become federation of Borneo.
6. But sometthings don't turn out the way you want them to. You can't put back the toothpaste in the tube. The constitution allowed and tolerated pluralism.
7. If mahathir cannot change the social constructs when he had power and controlled parliament, it's unfair to expect Anwar who had been in power for not even a year to change things as Mahathir wanted. Furthermore , who want to accept Mahathir's final solution?
8. Mahathir's racial hegemony is not as comprehensive as Hitler's Aryan race, but eerily similar to Mussolini's 1939 manifesto on race. Mahathir's touted and much bitched about Malay declaration is but a toxic race rhetoric.
9. Shall we now call present day Mahathir as our own IL duce ? At the end of the day, what he ventilated on race, is toxic rhetoric.
10. Whatever Mahathir said on race, was just his ventilation and rhetoric. They are meant to attract and secure the allegiance of Malay rednecks and irrationals. The run amok types and the readily quarrelsome types. They are also his desperate attempts to stay relevant in Malaysian politics.
11. Having been unsuccessful in restructuring Malaysia as he wanted, he is estopped from doing what he wants. That not a legal estoppel, but a political estoppel.
12. Sure enough, Mahathir has attracted the allegiance of the cerebral layabouts and laggards who gleefully based their reasoning on Anwar being a pathological liar and insinuations that he is a supporter of lbgt persuasions .
13. Asked why he had not structured Malaysian society as he wished when he had the power, Mahathir answered apologetically and with a straight- face
14. Despite enjoying near absolute power for 22 years and a further 18 months, Mahathir says he has only achieved partial success. This is because he is hampered by several constraints.
15. Firstly, Mahathir says he was constrained by the large population of the non Malays compared to Malays. The sizeable number of non Malays allowed them to resist Malay hegemonic designs by Mahathir.
16. Plus of course when push comes to shove, Mahathir actually, doesn't have an absolute rule quotient in his constitution.
17. But soon, the population argument would no longer be relevant. By 2030, the population of the Malays is expected to be around 80%. Now, if you remove the population argument, the only determinant for the success or failure of Mahathir's racial hegemonic designs is a dictatorial political system .
18. While Mahathir may not have a dictator quotient in his blood, the same cannot be said of the dour din 'puffy' Yassin or the eclesiastical dictator, Hadi Al marang.
19. A more important constraint Mahathir faced, was an is the economic dominance of the non Malays. Since, political power comes from the barrel of the economic gun, the non Malays can resist any racial hegemonic agenda pushed by Mahathir.
20. As to the reasons why the Malays cannot achieve economy dominance as quickly as Mahathir wants and therefore thwart his racial agenda, that would be the subject of a seperate article. You just cannot legislate 'the want to' mentality. That's part of the culture argument of the doctor.
21. The most important reason as to why we should object and reject Mahathir's prognoses , is that both his multiracial Malaysia is against the constitution and a forceful economic redesign- is that both is supported by one kind of political system.
22. The political system which we are talking about is the system of the dictator, the system of autocratic and unilateral rule. All right thinking Malaysians must vociferously object and reject Mahathir's thinking on this.
23. Mahathir's ideas are against the charter of the freeman . The charter of the freeman is to be free from all forms of coercion. Be that from secular people like Mahathir, mahiadin and people of their ilk or from the eclesiastical dictators like the mad mullahs.
24. While I disagree with Mahathir's racial agenda, there is a cogent, potent and even venomous thinking from him that I find difficult to dispute.
25. The Anwar government is fast becoming a kakistocracy. That is not a Malay word. It is an English term, meaning a government of incompetents.
The discussion on that will be in part 3.
