People- Its a Choice between Bad and Good Government!

Dear SamDol,
I have already said, this election is not about (1) wanting to make Anwar Ibrahim as PM nor (2) seeing whether Najib can continue his tenure.
This election is about wanting to establish a good government. A government that does good all-around and a government founded on the principles of rule of law. It’s about forming a government consisting of good people, committed, dedicated and having a sense of purpose to build up this country so that, we can share and participate in her bounty fairly and in a just manner. It’s also our mission to form a government that secures and strengthens the institutions that safeguard democracy; chief  among them being the judiciary.
So that the judicial system gives confidence that it is a place where ordinary people can seek justice and redress from the rapacious greed and bullying of the powerful. We want to have a corrupt free government governing us with good governance.
In the end, it is the rule of law that protects all citizens including Malays. If Malays seek protection from UMNO and lives under UMNO’s protection, they live under the rule of arbitrariness. UMNO protects you for as long you serve their purpose. UMNO rules on the principle , lu tolong gua, gua tolong lu. UMNO lives on the principles, give me your nambikei and I will provide for you.
So, it’s inherently faulty when Najib spoke to his people about deciding on a choice between him and Anwar, when it is really a choice between a bad and good government. Najib represents the bad government while Anwar represents our desire to form a good government.
Yesterday was Saturday night. After hallelujah-ing in Bukit Jalil, as in the common practice, the BN and UMNO eager beavers adjourn to exclusive clubs in town, partaking in the pleasures of the night while glossing over what the UMNO president has just said.
Many of them will say what a jerk their boss is.

  1. Dato',

I disagree. Actually many of them will say that this time it's the end of UMNO and of course when UMNO lose BN is "BUNGKUS" too. So when partaking in the pleasures of the night, many of them will be thinking about their future in a new Malaysia where freedom and equality is the order of the day AND corruption and bribery is no longer viewed as necessary evil but as EVIL itself.

It will be a tough time for BN fans BUT it will be a dawn of a new day for Malaysian everywhere. The feeling of anticipation and hope does permeate the atmosphere and only dead people could not feel the "unusually quiet and subdued" feeling of the approaching tsunami. It's quite unmistakable! It's pervasive and to UMNO's horror, it's getting stronger and nearer!

Najib and his gang (that includes Mahathir) can crow about in their controlled mass media BUT nothing they do or say could stem the approaching wall of anger and retribution. Their cronies such as YTL and Ananda Krishnan knew well in advance that this day is coming and they have already abandoned the sinking BN and UMNO ship. Judgement day is coming and for some, it is a dreadful day which they wished and fantasize that it will never come. Button up all the hatches..... ABU is coming and it is sweeping everything that is corrupt and dirty out to the open sea.

Cleaning out UMNO from their dirty stable which the Malaysian govt have become will be a herculean task but by utilizing the tsunami of people's will, we can and will prevail and all the filth and manure spread out in our government will be cleanse! Nothing is impossible with ABU! Ini Kalilah!!!!!!!

  2. It's good to have good check and balance. If the opposition aint strong, I guess BN wouldn't have gone to great lengths to dish out goodies. Even if the opp can't win Putrajaya, it would be most satisfactory to deny BN the two thirds it need to rule. Let's see how arrogant they can be from now on.

  3. Dear Sakmongkol

I just returned from a short trip to Trengganu, driving almost the entire length of that beautiful state, with the azure sea constantly in view. The sight of all those party flags fluttering in the stiff sea breeze marred the beauty of the scenery. They were mostly blue with a dacing printed on them. But there were also green flags with a white disc in the middle. The blue flags out numbered the green ones by wide gap, maybe 10:1.

I spoke to some local folks. Which party would you support? Some said the Blue party and some the Green one. But it would have been intrusive to delve deeper for their reasons for their choices. But I think to myself, what issues might these folks consider when they place that cross on the ballot paper? Do the issues of good governance that you talk about mean anything to them? Corruption doesn’t cross their path; the stealing goes on via contracts signed in KL, or in the forests of Sarawak. The Palace of Justice where justice is often not served is far away, as if it is in another country. The transparency and competitiveness that businesses demand are concepts that mean nothing in a place where life is easy and forgiving; and where material wealth means not so much because inflation in house and food prices haven’t quite have the same debilitating impact yet.

The people of Trengganu are so much like the others in rural Malaysia. They live in a world almost apart from the urban folks who have access to the internet, who read about the injustices inflicting our country; about the wealth that is being stolen from our treasury; about the future that is looking dimmer by the day because of poor governance. And I ask, how do we take this message to the rural heartland and give it meaning to those easygoing folks? And how do we tell them that the RM500 BR1M are nothing more than small doses of opium given to induce temporary pleasure and dependency, but would numb their senses to the rot underway?

  5. Deae Dato ,

Allow me to share my thoughts here.

I think most muslims forget that it is a great crime and sin in the eyes of Allah to accuse ppl of adultery wether it is heterosexuality or homosexuality without producing 4 witnesses who actually saw actual 'penetration' at the same time ( Surah An Nur ) It is a great crime punishable by hudud. Yet UMNO, the so called protector of Malays and Islam persist in this mud-slinging of anwar and other opposition leaders. complete with distribution of videos and postings on pro UMNO blogs

I used to be hung up on this too , worried about anwar becoming the first bisexual PM but a fellow muslim reminded me that this should not be the concern of muslims. What anwar chooses to do behind closed doors is between him and God, if in fact it is true which again as Muslims is not something we should dwell and speculate on. The prophet SAW in his lifetime did not go around investigating ppl's closets to look for skeletons. In fact it was narrated that he refused to entertain the confession of an adulteress but eventually did after persistent attempts on her part at confessing to him so that she can be punished.

We forget that we should be focusing on core issues which as Dato' has mentioned is about improving the country through a better governance which is what a vote for the 'opposition' is hopefully about. We want change for the better. We have given BN a long time to prove itself of which it has miserably failed.

As the popular saying goes, 'insanity is doing the same things over and over again but expecting different results'.

    Ini kalilah.

  6. Dato'Sak, I think BN is very desparate now. They promise as though money fall from the sky. They are very irresponsible, how are they going to balance the book?Bring back the 200B stashed Overseas? The Rakyat especially in Semi Urban areas have realised the ploy.I thought BN will come out with a better Manifesto. After 5 years they still don't know what the Rakyat want.I think they can kiss Good bye to Selangor. With the Mad Man saying the country need more Ibrahim Ali,the final nail to the BN Coffin has been strike.

  7. Dato, good governance and bad governance are world's apart. With good governance a country and its people will have good prosperity and with bad governance it is the other way around. With rampant corruption the country is following the Pigg's nations footsteps. On the way to bankruptcy as the nations coffers are looted dry by the ministers and their cronies.

Just look at the tiny island down South known as Singapore. With no natural resources but good governance the island state have became a foreign investors financial paradise. With no natural water resources it have became the professional hub of water purifying.Countries all over the world have send their people to learn from the Singaporeans.

Singapore has benefitted from Malaysia's brain drain. It does not practised cronism, therefore encouraging keen competition. And smart people likes competition. And they get rewarded by getting promotions and better salaries.

If Malaysia do not encourage corruption and cronism, very few Malaysians would migrate or work in Singapore. If all the Malaysians in Singapore would suddenly come back and work in Malaysia,Singapore would go on its knees and cry out for its mama.

It is time Malaysians stand up and be counted. At least have the balls to vote for change. No single person should rely on the corrupted Umnoputras for handouts to have three meals a day their entire lives. They have two hands and feet.If they do the Umno will forever feed on them like leeches.

With a new federal government, and with good governance the economy will strengthen and eventually boom. With lesser corruption and cronism comes competition. With competition comes higher productivity. With higher productivity comes better salaries. With better salaries comes a better standard of living.

  8. Spot on. If we have to choose between najib and anwar, between lim kit sing and chua soi lek, between khairy and rafizi, so on an so forth, it's difficult to reach an agreement, because staunch supporters of either side will choose their own, whatever other people say. But choose we must. So, choose those who aspire to wipe out corruption, to uphold the rule of law, to govern with the peopl'es interest uppermost in their minds. At least some people ASPiRE to do do these things.Umno and BN don't even acknowledge these wrongdoings exist let alone aspire to do anything about it. It's right there infront of their eyes but they have chosen to ignore it

    BN stands for material interests.

YET, UMNO/BN LEADERS SAY “RAKYAT DIDAHULUKAN”…

The Barisan Nasional (BN)-led government has spent RM12, 094,707 or an average of RM8, 284 every day to maintain the official residences of the prime minister and his deputy over the past four years.

The whopping figure was revealed by minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Aziz in response to a question by Padang Terap Member of Parliament Mohd Nasir Zakaria in one of the parliament sessions last year.

Maintenance for Sri Perdana, where Prime Minister Najib Razak is staying, had burnt close to RM7 million over the last four years with RM1.896 million in 2008, RM1.686 million in 2009, RM1.520 million in 2010 and RM1.873 million in 2011.

While RM5 million was spent for maintaining Sri Satria occupied by deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, with RM1.129 million, RM1.130 million, RM1.401 million, and RM1.455 million spent for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 respectively.

Last June, Nazri revealed that RM48.7 million from public funds was spent on Seri Perdana and Sri Satria between 2006 and 2010.

Breaking down the RM48.7 million expense, Nazri said RM33 million was spent on rental payment to local authority Perbadanan Putrajaya, RM10.2 million on electricity bills, RM3.5 million for maintenance and RM1.96 million for water.

The amount of RM48.7 million of taxpayers’ money spent on the residences for the four years on the official residences of the Prime Minister and his Deputy from 2006 to 2010 can be used to build 1,000 low-cost houses for the poor at RM50 000 each.

There are over 30 percent Malaysians who do not even own a decent home of their own. Many are still living as squatters in urban peripheries and in decrepit huts in most of the interior zones of the Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak.

A huge chunk of the amount, totaling close to RM33 million, was spent on rental fees. Both Seri Perdana and Sri Satria in Putrajaya are owned by the local authority, Putrajaya Holdings.

Besides that, as much as RM10.2 million was spent on electricity bills while RM3.5 million went to maintenance and RM1.96 million for water. Both the top leaders in UMNO spend an average of RM 171 000 a month just on electricity when an average middle class family spend about RM80 to RM120 monthly.

The rakyat thus have their rights to chide the BN-led government for wasting public funds when they have to struggle to cope with the high costs of living and subsidy cuts.

The BN-led government spent more than RM12 million to maintain the official residences of the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister between 2008 and 2012; sating their four years of opulent living.

The highest yearly maintenance costs for Seri Perdana was recorded in 2008, at RM1 896 616. For Sri Satria, it was in 2011, and the amount was RM1 455 804. UMNO top leaders have become ostentatious living in luxurious residences at the taxpayers’ expense.

Kelantan Menteri Besar, Nik Aziz Nik Mat, could give a wide berth to the flamboyance associated with UMNO leaders and lives a simple lifestyle. Nik Aziz has been living in the same modest kampong home for more than 20 years and this has not affected his efficacy as Menteri Besar.

There are thousands in the country who cannot afford a decent shelter, thousands in Sabah and Sarawak and interior Peninsular Malaysia who have no supply of water and electricity. But under UMNO led BN administration they could afford to spend a fortune for their top leaders to stay in posh palaces at the expense of taxpayer’s money.

In the interim, to many rakyat, it boils down to and proved that UMNO/BN leaders are a wastrel group which these leaders cannot hide it glitziness anymore, while the ordinary people of all races could hardly make ends meet.

Beyond that there were many other allegations against the leaders that the people find hard not to believe, or to forgive and forget. There are among them and their spouses and children big spenders and also persistent allegations on the high spending lifestyle of the Prime Minister’s wife.

It was revealed that RM409 767 was spent for the engagement reception for Najib’s daughter Nooryana Najwa's to Kazakh national Daniar Nazarbayev in June 2011. Leaders seem to have an expensive taste splurging their wealth but the rakyat cannot keep on paying for the leaders’ savour.

It was alleged that RM79 053 was spent on the Najib’s birthday party on July 24 last year. The event took place at Sri Perdana, Putrajaya with around 100 guests.

Far south of Kuala Lumpur in Melaka, RM600 000 was luxuriated on an UMNO chief minister son's wedding reception that many observers claimed could have cost the minister around RM1.3 million.

An ordinary Malay wedding would cost 60 times lower than this figure and many can’t even afford a wedding that would cost them more than RM 10 000.

Spending in dribs and drabs and flashiness has become the trademark of many UMNO/BN leaders and families, which do not bode well with the ordinary rakyat who have lesser resources barely surviving all year round. And of course there are some ministers and their family members who have become excessively boastful and morphed into the “untouchables” living like maharajas in “kingdoms” of their own.

They are the filthy rich living in huge mansions, driving exotic expensive cars and spending wastefully on overseas trips while staying in star-studded hotels, shopping and bashing at high-end joints which are appealing to sophisticated and discerning customers. This is in fact an open secret.

Demanding the rakyat to be thrifty and cautious in spending do not make sense when leaders themselves live an extravagant lifestyle and spend wastefully which only revealed their hypocritical nature.

    ReplyDelete
  13. 3 of 4

Moreover, it was reported that the BN-led government spent RM17 million for the Prime Minister and RM8 million for his Deputy’s travel expenses since 2008.

It was also revealed in November 2011 that the entirety expenses for the Prime Minister and his wife and his deputy and wife for official visits from 2008 to 2011 had totaled to more than RM20 million.

    The Prime Minister and wife spent RM 1 739 332 (2008), RM4 811 837 (2009) RM5 140 307 (2010) and RM 5 427 172 until Jun 2011. And the overall costs for the deputy and wife for travelling expenses within the same period was RM8 020 328.

Does this not amount to abuse of taxpayers’ money? A leader cannot claim to be “berjiwa rakyat” (people-centric) when such an amount was spent just within a few years in office when the majority of Malaysians are facing tough times facing the escalating living costs.

The Prime Minister has spent RM10.1 million for his overseas visits for the past three years. The short visit to Kazakhstan with a big contingent to attend the World Economic Forum in June last year cost the taxpayers RM1.2 million.

The two-day Prime Minister’s visit to Turkmenistan 11 and 12 July last year came to RM323 268.

RM9.1 million was spent on rent payment of a private jet for their travels. It was also alleged that the jet was used for his private visit to Perth, Australia on 31 August to 3 September last year.

Of course leaders can claim that they deserve all these treats and privileges as they suppose the nation has the wealth to sustain their spending sprees but the country has been experiencing a deficit budget for the past 14 continuous years and the majority rakyat are burdened with high costs of living and low standard of livelihood which many ordinary poor rakyat might not be aware of.

No mechanisms on how to bring down prices of essentials have surfaced from the many high-sounding acronyms coined by the BN-led government. Pay increase for certain sectors has only exacerbated inflation that has burdened the lower income group.

    ReplyDelete
  14. 4 of 4

Consequently, the UMNO/BN elites are enjoying life to the fullest while the poor are pushed to one corner to recline in the drought of dust and dearth.

Extravagance and wastages by the BN-led government will only lead to more borrowing, increase interest incurs, burden the unborn, bleak future generation and also escalate the costs of living that are presently affecting the ordinary people badly.

It’s evidently lucid, the spending excessiveness by the BN top leaders were at times border on elements of “corrupt” practices.

Ironically, at a time when they tell the rakyat that they should adapt to harder economic times, self-seeking UMNO/BN leaders are using huge amount of taxpayers’ money to live in style and spend unwisely to also build mega projects at inflated prices.

Because of having incompetent leaders in the BN-led government they have no long-term ideas on how to reduce the inflationary trend that is going on uninhibited.

The country’s BN top leaders in calling for fiscal austerity are not leading by example by cutting on their own expenses. Instead the BN-led government is forced to cut spending by slicing down on its subsidy bills. But, the spiraling global food prices are making life more difficult for the rakyat who are struggling to cope with low income amid inflationary enormity.

It cannot be a matter of perception but reality that the BN-led government has a spendthrift image since most of these figures were disclosed and provided by the government of the day when requested and questioned by the Members of Parliament.

Relatively judicious spending has nonetheless been observed in the four states under Pakatan Rakyat in spite of their freshness in governance. These states have indubitably shown exemplariness in their financial management which has been commended and endorsed by the country’s Auditor General Reports.

Hence, Malaysians should contemplate critically and decisively in the imminent GE13 for the sake of our families, future generations and…... Tanah Tumpahnya Darah Ku…..

So his people will also not do it to him. Tit for tat.
And he made a pertinent ultimatum - Me or Anwar?
A resounding YES from the millions in the crowd and Malaysians outside.
This is an election to decide who should be the PM. THe decider to kick out Anwar or let him be King of PutraJaya.
You may say the polls is not about Anwar or Najib. That it is the choice between Bad and Good Government.
The reality is the people think it is all about Najib and Anwar. About Pakatan making Anu-War PM. About Anwar's last and final dream.
WE have already a good Government. And we want to rid the Bad One who wants to scuttle it.
And it's best we settle the score once and all.
THat we kick Anwar and Keadilan out of the scene.
That on polling day, we teach him a bitter and painful lesson.

Saya geli hati sebab seluruh media RTM/TV3 ahli panel jemputan syok sendiri puji memuji manifesto lapok UMNO BN.

  25. QD:...'never stabbed anyone behind their back in his 35 years of service...'

He did lots of worse things than mere stabbing. Incredible how men can be blind if they so decide. How they choose to consume the biggest lie perpetrated by the biggest thief and now forced to keep the lie alive by someone over:

    1) the mysterious death of a woman

    2) a 500 million ringgit commission to a friendly party

    3) all the big ticket losses by omission and commission listed to tedium in by countless bloggers.

Internal colonialisation casts its evil spell even more effectively on the nation when captive minds include those we consider functional literates just so that this comfortable middle-class can carry on with their lifestyle, achieved with little or no effort. Like how opium or alcohol works in the human body, a mind drugged by easy access to wealth through lucrative deals, handouts or outright gifts, is incapable of knowing reality let alone accepting it. Hence, in slavish gratitude to the landlord, a thankful tenant, having received a small act of grace, can make his landlord's pet hatred his own double quick. A fixation on the posterior, at this moment, 14+ years after the infamous trial, hardly brings any credibility to a person who strains himself to be perceived as being able to engage in productive public discourse.

5th para: "Unlike back playing Nu-War", and similar previous allusions by QD reveal more about himself than he is prepared to admit. Is this a dark echo of the id - well, not dark if one accepts that it is something nobody wishes it for himself or herself as we all arrive as part of a non-negotiable package deal, like it or not.

QD's last statement merely confirms that he missed the number one point that Sak has been drumming all along that no way will DAP will have the first right to the First position, certainly not a Chinese nor an Indian. Najib's arithmetic scores must have been higher than QD's while at school. QD should disappoint us less. A spell in a small town or kampung in Kelantan before D-Day, would keep him steady on terra firma.

  29. Bad government Good government begins with your VOTE!

If an individual gets elected through trickery - that person or Party is bad or even EVIL! Now read below:

Readers and friends of Pakatan, please becareful of the cheap dirty trickery which MCA is using: SYMPATHY.

First, Donald Lim pleaded with the Chinese NOT to let MCA eat eggs.

This was followed by Frankie Gan, MCA's hopeful for Bkt Bintang plea to give him some votes so he wouldn't lose badly (save face sort of thing ... stupid ass).

This trick by MCA was actually adapted by MCA from a famous Indian political story. The story is that a relatively unknown Young man was contesting against a famous and well funded Indian politician. Almost on the eve of the voting day, the Young man realized that he might lose so badly his deposit might even be forfeited.

The Young man then made as many rounds as possible asking people to give him some votes to prevent his loss of deposit.

The people took pity on him, and at the end of the voting day, the Young man WON!

Because no one knew who else would be voting for the Young man. It was just as simple as that.

So don't fal into MCA's cheap trap and MOST OF ALL: REMEMBER, IF MCA CAN RESORT TO SUCH CHEAP TRICK, THEN MCA HAS NO RESPECT FOR YOU!

SO HANG MCA OUT TO DRY!!!

  30. Fellow readers of this blog,

As commented by OneMalaysian above (7 April 2013 10:01) the apathy or "tidak apa" attitude of our fellow Malaysians in the kampungs, new villages, estates, long houses and pendalaman are prevalent. Monopoly of the main stream media and its tentacles have put paid to any any info gathering and dissemination in these parts.

Apart from the urban areas and a few pockets outside, there is not much hope for Pakatan to oust BN if we do not take this "fight" in our hands. Not literally, since am not even a card carrying member of any political party. But change we must if Malaysia and your grandchildren are to have a better future.

You do not have to work very hard on this aspect. There is no long haul to make this effort - just a short few weeks (days) before polling day.

Print out as many information on the bad management and scandals of BN and its porous handling of the economy and our money.

Print it in Bahasa Malaysia and all other main languages spoken by Malaysians. Disseminate this information and print-out everywhere you go and start by talking everyday (from now till polling day) to 5-or-so fence-sitters and even BN's die-hard supporters (who would be in the dark). Get them to do this to their contacts - sounds like MLM but we have no choice - because the shroud of BN is wide and it tentacles has surrounded many.

I have begun, what about you?
    Salam

  33. First and foremost congrats to you on the nomination for the Raub Parliamentary seat and we know you will win hands down with or without phantom of the MCA opera votes.

The country has been in election gear for the past 4 years and this election lethargy must have been beaten to near death over the four years and we now know its death is near. Suddenly the righteous posturing, boisterous claims of good governance, “corruption-free” administration, what-have-you–all suddenly assuming paramount importance and we are stumped for a second, pause, disbelieving our eyes and ears: since when did our political masters wake up to these realities? All the while we heard of scams, more scams, scums, illogical policies and now this! And then it slowly sinks in: elections are just round the corner. Indeed its round the corner as manifested by the plagarising of manifestos or pledges or janjis or whatever semantics they use. Well what can we say about the manifestos being plagarised - ‘what Pakatan thinks today, BN thinks tomorrow’.

BN is all out to win and with its missionary position thrust towards the rakyat, the politicians are increasingly turning their eyes, everything to three things: wooing people to gain power, managing to stay in power (nationwide) and trying to get themselves back to power (7 states including WP). Gone are those past illustrious leaders who apart from the Power aspect, focused genuinely on issues, cared and tried to solve peoples’ problems, and generally lived by a set of ideals and principles.

Mr.Clean aka PM and Mr Double Clean aka ex PM, issued a ‘firman’ or edict to the press and nation that the ruling BN will win more than two thirds and win big.

We have a proverb in this part of the world that loosely translated, “alchohol for one eye and lime for the other”. One hand the PM says we can win hands down yet the DPM says we cant win with both hands down. They have now perfected the distinction of converting the art of prostituting the press to serve the BN Dynasty. You will never see consistency in the press except lies.

BN’s record of 5 years is dripped with poor understanding of economic dynamism in the world, phony liberalism in the local economy and pseudo concern for the social, education and health of the Malaysian society which finally melts into a culmination of five years’ worth of observations of some amazingly dirty tour de farce enacted in this nation which even will put Lance Armstrong’s scandal as a walk in the park.

For about five years, this nation of ours has not had a ‘government’ as we were all in the election drive gear and yes we were drummed daily with pride and have all kinds of prides in play i.e the Malay pride, the Chinese pride, the Indian pride during elections except of course the National Pride.

  34. Malaysia is a country not starved of natural resources. Its people are not lazy and stupid (see those waiting at the bus to go to work early in the mornings and sending their children to school); invaders don’t repeatedly strip Malaysia of its wealth (except maybe Konfrantasi and Sulu episode?); massive periodic calamities do not level everything in sight (the Tsunami comes in mind but nothing as devastating as in Aceh?); death and disease do not plague the land (except corruption?); it is not bereft of history or culture (just ask Ben Joned or Ramli Ibrahim or Khoo KK?); constant civil strife between warring factions or unions does not foreclose the possibility of any economic activity and so on.

In other words, Malaysia is not doomed to be poor due to factors outside its control. Yet Malaysia is desperately, depressingly, chronically, and acutely going backwards in most of the indicators. Why is that so and what is missing? Governance!

Governance is what governments do. Governments are not accidents of nature. They are artifacts that have to be consciously and deliberately constructed. They come in various kinds — authoritarian, democratic, socialist, communist, et cetera. But they have one thing in common. Regardless of the type, if they fail to provide good governance, the country suffers. A successful politician is one who can effectively rein in the bureaucratic beast, a must for delivering governance and small government.

So here’s a simple heuristic to figure out if we have good governance. If a country like Malaysia is ‘sick’ its not due to cough or cold but we don’t have good governance. You don’t have to be an expert on governance to know that if all other factors are quite fine, by a process of elimination you know that it must be bad governance that is root of all the misery.

The most pernicious effect of big government is that it breeds public corruption. Corruption is always bad but in the private sector, market discipline weeds them out. But public corruption – the kind only the people in government specialise in – has a side effect that is hard to miss: it leads to bad governance.

So in summary, big government leads to corruption. Corruption leads to bad governance. Bad governance gives rise to mass poverty. Yes mass poverty which BN brings out the BRIM bazooka to address!

And yes the irony is that it is lack of freedom also cause poverty too. And YES, it’s a choice between bad and good governance and YES we want good governance.

    --------------------------------------------------------
    Betul-kah? Macam mana rekod-rekod ini ???

    1) Bribe Payers - Malaysia scored worst in the 2012 Bribe Payers Survey - Nearly 3,000 executives from 30 countries whether they had lost a contract in the past year because competitors paid a bribe, and in Malaysia, 50% of them said 'yes'. Even Indonesia, with a long-standing reputation for corruption, fared better than more-developed Malaysia.
2)Illegal Capital flight - M'sia is world's No 2 in illegal capital flight - Close to RM200 billion of dirty money was siphoned out of Malaysia in 2010, putting the country second only to Asian economic powerhouse China in global capital flight.
3)Tranparency Index - ranked the 54th least corrupt country in the world, according to the latest Transparency International Corruption Perception Index (CPI) released today, placed below Rwanda (50), Botswana (30) Bahrain (53), Israel (39) and even neighbouring Brunei (46). As a kind of consolation, (Clap! Clap! Clap!) it was an improvement from 60th position and beat Indonesia to it. But it won’t be long if judging from the bribe payers survey.
4)Education - For the second consecutive year, Malaysia once again fail to enter the Top 400 spot of Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking 2012-2013. Times Higher Education (THE), is a world reputable body that rates universities worldwide based on several factors such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer, international outlook & more.
