Sakmongkol answers Rocky Bru- Corrupting use of anonymity.

Corrupting use of anonymity

Friends have called me. They are saying- sakmongkol, habis lah you kali ni. Rocky Bru, the boss of bosses of Blogdom has joined in to hantam you. I wish I can say, I am shaking in my boots. He has come out with ground rules of blogging.

When I reached home, I look up my computer. I read Rocky Bru's take on my article concerning two bloggers which resulted in unintentional effects. Whether anyone believes its unintentional is not relevant to me. It's done and cannot be undone.

Well, my response is, I can accept this form of criticism which distinguishes itself from the many comments and even articles taking the form of childish tantrums which remind me of something that have passed through a cat's digestive system. Indeed some of the comments at the said Rocky article displayed these characteristics. Some stated what can you expect from a KJ supporter, supporter of perasuah etc etc.

One commentator who of course choose to remain anonymous, said he/she is sorry to have to take sakmongkol off his blog reading list. I must thank this person because after coming to my home and enjoying my hospitality, the person is being civil by announcing he/she wants to exit. So I say Godspeed.

Here is my way to answer what Rocky has said. It is done in my own style, in my poor English.

Media people flamboyantly professed levels of transparency. I say flamboyant, because many claim they have a higher commitment to transparency. 'Politicians' have none. They are not shy to boast about it sometime.

That claim however is not the exclusive province of media people as we shall see later. It is the same with causes. Some causes are purely hatched in the imagination of internet writers. The same causes hatched originally in the minds of writers are hyped over several times and eventually become elevated to the status of a greater cause. In our case, 'a national cause'. In the name of national cause for example, one Rashid Yusof loses a legitimate opportunity to 'cari makan' to feed his family.

The validity of the greater cause however is founded on references to 'sources within the establishment'. Hence we hear the oft repeated 'taichi' excuses of I stand by my source/s.

This is the tricky part. Now who judges the validity of these sources and even their authenticity? It's done by the very same writers (in the loosest of sense) who originated the cause in the first place. The writers themselves become victim of self hype.

Take the case for example of treating the halt of one Rashid Yusof as press secretary to the DPM. His halt to a legitimate expectation of a job is justified as being the result of fighting for a greater cause.

But, his legitimate expectation is never inferior to the equally legitimate expectation to 'cari makan' as the term is employed by those who arrogate to themselves the righteous role of defending 'a greater cause'. Tell me readers, how is it possible to destroy another person's legitimate expectation while hanging to our own claim, susah cari makan. Who judges our own periuk nasi is more important than another's?

But that is ok so it is argued because it is justifiable in the name of a greater cause. The whole thing is part of the process of being transparent and upfront.

Except, this self claim is most of the time founded on expediencies. The claim is enhanced and fortified by reliance upon one of the most un-transparent political weapons:  namely, disseminating to the public -- typically through sympathetic journalists/writers and even bloggers -- purely partisan assertions while hiding behind a journalistically baseless grant of anonymity.  Again and again, partisan assertions are hooked up to the claim of a greater cause

There are numerous manipulative and distorting effects from having cyber-writers make pronouncements while remaining anonymous. One of these and a most significant of reasons is that there is no accountability whatsoever when they make false or misleading statements.

Today we have a perfect illustration of that lack of accountability. Anonymity is most used as a means of deception or using anonymity to reach an agenda couched in the now already tired phrase of 'a greater cause' or 'national interest'.

To be continued.

  1. i think thats the price u pay for being in association with KJ. rashid knows what KJ had done to the country since 2004 and yet he still sign up to make him win the ketua pemuda?

rashid must not have loved this country that much.

let him think abt this mistake. his children's cries were partly becoz of him friending the devil KJ.

    fair?

  3. Prior to the existence of blogs, the so called journalists reign the world of news/story reporting. Non journalits/reporters never had the oportunity to express their ideas. With blogs, these journalists/reporters might have felt that their worlds had been invaded by others. They feel that their "periuk nasi" is taken away by people like sakmongkol. They just can't imagine that sakmongkol has got hits higher than theirs'. Some become anons to hide their inferiority and have no balls...fair?

  4. I sympathize with Mr Rashid cos a friend is in the same boat...

The guy entered into a cooperation agreement with a GLC and after verbal agreements with the CEO and pending a formal agreement ( being the trustworthy guy he is)did design, operating procedures, business plans etc.. work worth millions of ringgit if farmed out to consultants...and at the end was ditched due to some dirty underhanded backstabbing by another party. The other party got the piece of the action and they are still using the work produced by the guy.

I hv tried to help by using my contacts..talking to all the parties..the political bosses..but no one is interested to help.

The lawyers are confident of winning a breach of contract case cos so many clear evidence of the existence of a contract and i guess they're salivating at the prospect of the contingency fees too.

The dilemma is whether to pursue the legal case..is it worth it?Its a GLC..its managed by Bumis..its also politically sensitive.

From a financial angle myb not (he is quite comfortable financially and have secured other work anyway)..but to teach the culprits i.e on principles of honesty, sanctity of ur words I am urging him to do so.

In the same way...sad to say..if our DPM have actually offered Mr Rashid a job and without due regard rescinded the offer...Mr Rashid shld sue for damages to his character, reputation etc to teach the political master a thing or two about principles.

There must be more integrity and no one should hide behind their positions and political fortresses. Our DPM should be more sensitive to the impact he may have by his decisions. He is a big huge supertanker..the waves he creates can submerge small islands like Mr Rashid.

Its myb a non issue to some but if its indicative of the way things will be managed going forward..i fear for my country.

If you need to hit back, hit back in an argumentative and fair manner.

If you hit someone so low, similar to some anon calling you bingai, you wouldn't like that as well.

It is unfortunate that Rashid associated himself with KJ, although for him it's just cari makan or professional work. He too must be aware of the liability and should be aware of the risk. He too must be aware the risk of being the cyber subject

That is unfortunate for him. but who knows, in his honesty to cari makan, his rezeki could be elsewhere.

So sir, subjects are subjects. Voicey may be wrong, like all other bloggers, they are not immune to faults, but revealing their identities are just not on.

Being a commentators on numerous blogs, those I agree or disagree with, I do not find the act of revealing their IDs serve any good.

Everybody has his own view. However, if u feel that u have slighted the feeling of a voice unintentionally, then a cup of friendly teh tarik should break the ice. Afterall, we are humans and as humans, we erred. I will be there on 9th May...Don't lose sleep over the issue...

Sebagai contoh saya orang kuat Umno tapi dalam diam atau tidak beridentiti, saya pengutuk kuat Umno.

    it's a b*lls*it...

i know one blogger finally berenti kerja sebab tak tahan dengan penyalahgunaan kuasa bos dia dalam satu jabatan yang berteraskan Islam, menggunakan all the resources untuk kepentingan parti. and he show how is him...

cari makan dengan prinsip diri yang serong tak dapat la saya nak tolong... sometime we need to do it. but please i small scale... bila dah besar elok la berenti dan pilih which is more important.

    NAILS IN THE FENCE

    Make sure you
read all the way down to the last sentence.

    (Most
    importantly the last sentence)

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all.
He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his
    temper.

The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence.. He said, 'You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. But It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound will still be there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one.
Remember that friends are very rare jewels, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share words of praise and they always want to open
    their hearts to us.'
Please forgive me if I have ever left a 'hole' in your fence,.. wat else can I say,..(,") Cheers bros,..

  27. ni masalah dengan blogger sekarang, ada blogger kampung, ada blogger rembau, ada blogger pandai, ada blogger bodoh, dan ada juga blogger yang berbayar.

Our blogosphere is not matured and civilized enough. Most bloggers and commentators around don't know how to take each comment as just an opinion. Many don't realize that there is 27 million Malaysians, and if you have been around, you would realize everyone would have their own opinion, and we should respect them for it.

Sakmongkol ni blogger Kampung. He can accuse Mukhriz of all kind of things, but when BigDog decides to expose KJ's attempt to plant a spy in Muhyiddin's office, he starts to get personal.

Hey, Sakmongkol, for the past 5-6 years, the Mahathir guys were continuously spitted at, humiliated... Tun Mahathir was even attacked with a pepper spray.. did BigDog lose his cool? Did Rocky get personal? NO. Raja Petra was Fucked Badly during Mahathir's time, he still backed Tun M like hell.. Malaysia Today was one of the main Pro-Tun blog at that time. They were all fighting based on principals, not emotions.

I can't compare with the situation now, because KJ support then, especially in the form of voluntary blogging, was typically non-existent.

so, back to my point here Sakmongkol, go out and meet more people. You will realize everyone has an opinion and each opinion should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Khairy still have Omar Mustapha Ong in Najib's office. Khairy's buddy, semua orang tahu.. what is he doing in there? Did you follow the recent policy decisions? Was the decisions good for UMNO? you tell me. That's the reason why most UMNO guys don't want Rashid in the DPM's office.

If you want to settle this like a gentleman, post your phone number, lets meet at a place and time, one on one, if you still have the balls.

You want to play the uncivilized card, I'm ready. I'll repeat that line 100 time if I need to.

    You're a sick bastard.

  28. I used to read this blog for the views and insights on Malaysian politics. I felt that there was great thought and maturity and in some respects integrity too.

But after having done what you did, I am so disappointed.

    Ah.. vintage Melayu behaviour.

I feel that even if you have a bone to pick (whether your own fight or fights on behalf of those you support/back/promote), officially or unofficially, ye atau tidak, there are far better ways, no, far more respectful ways than to uncover an anonymous blogger. You may think that by doing so you've probably crippled A Voice, but in reality, you've shown the biggest weakness in yourself and nothing can redeem you from that. You've lost my trust and I no longer see any integrity in you.

    How disappointing.

  30. Dear Sakmongkol,

Some people, in spite of themselves, insist on giving ill thought out advice in their blogs which they direct to, for instance in this case, to the Deputy Prime Minister not to accept a well-qualified, media network savvy journalist like Rashid Yusof as part of a team who would be able to contribute to nation-building.

Sakmongkol, deep digger behind these anonymous bloggers.

Their personal history is the key behind their baseless and holier-than-thou postures in their sopo blogs. Out them out. Masking your true self in order to criticise others in order to give credence to their accusations is plain deceitful to people who read these blogs.

I know for a fact that one of them studied on a JPA bumi scholarship but failed repeatedly each year, wasting tax payers money and believing that what he is doing is not an act of betrayal to the country and to his race because his family could easily bail him out if JPA decides to withdraw his scholarship.

This person is no patriot, he is a glutton. A glutton in size, in manners and now, a glutton of PUBLICITY.

A joke that became a nightmare. Dato told me that Voice telephoned immediately and even enjoyed the joke initially.
BigDog smsed him and laughed about it.
    Ask A Voice..

Then as the comments came in A Voice called Dato around 10 at night. He asked Dato to omit the mention of the other blog.Dato amended it at his request.

Why didn't he grumbled about the caption earlier? And why didn't BigDog do the same?

Wa, I need this education in crossover human/primate socio-lingusitc anthro! Go watch a colony of monkeys squatting in an abandoned temple say in Kerala and you'll see the intense politicking as evinced here. I wanted to say this is a dog eats dog world into which we have descended or maybe only showing our hidden vcolors, but then let's stay with monkeys. A monkey nitpicking on one another provides a fascinating study on the psycho drama that is the universe. Monkeys are known to fade away and die if they cannot wade in and pelt insults at one another. This umno-based mini theatre is a chip off the cosmic - oops - monkey - oops - cosmic drama. The guest of honor, and the only one who can stand outside the circle and not die, is what most people may want to call god but whom I call renegade bloggers like you know who. Melah! Over at my blog it is all unmanly and unmacho and unmonkey stuff like cycling 80 km to midnight! No self-respecting umno monkeyman would want to read tha kind of stuff, too poofy in their lexicon I suppose. But guys, you play monkey, while I play god, hehe.

Don't worry too much about this Mamak Bendahara guy. Remember, he came to your blog, its not that you went to his blog.

Notice how the pro Mukhriz bloggers react. Foul words, loud comments but 0 substance. They claim that you are on the take, which for fact is complete bull, , haha, what about them? It seems that there is an overwhelming body of evidence that shows that they too are paid hacks.

If I spill a few more beans, KJ can be fried alive...

  47. apahal pulak kes rashid nak masuk dalam ni nak justify revealing identity orang lain? WTF?

No need to justify la. What an as*. Wht rocky said was true. At least ask the person dulu la. Again, not for you to decide.

Btw, mmg rashid and the other press sect jumpa Muhyiddin. Mmg rashid was offered post press sect TPM. Mmg rashid orang KJ. Mmg zambri nak bridge r'ship btwn KJ n TPM. Mmg rashid sentap kalau org kutuk KJ.

Ni semua betul, x payah nak deny dah and twist the whole thing as a reason to reveal org lain nye identity. Sia2 je penah jadi MP (or was it adun). Low clas punya org. Org jadi blogger nak jadi blogger tapi x paham semangat blogging.

    -Very low class punya blogger-

I smell fear and uncertainty in your words; suggesting you don't know what you're talking about and you're also curious.

You're just the office boy, no lower-the bell boy, perhaps the slave. Tolong panggil majikan, saya tak suka bercakap dengan Pak Guard.

Its the big boys game man, not for small timers.. haha... penulis blog upahan... you don't know what you're talking about, and you're not important enough to be allowed to hear the juicy stuff....

ps- It will take me just a 1 hour meeting with Tun M to end KJ's career for good.

  50. so the answer is no.
well ok. nice try, try harder next time.

  51. I am surprised that you refer to Rocky Bru as the boss of Blogdom! Who is Rocky Bru anyway? Even at the height of his feigned independence of UMNO, he could never write a decent article or viewpoint on various issues. All he does is regurgitate news from the mainstream media, mainly the NST his erstwhile nemesis and invite comment. Never have we seen a susbstative piece of writing well founded in thinking and argument.

Rememember, blogdom does not have bosses and anyone like the likes of Rais Yatim who think that they can be engaged and controlled dont understand blogosphere.Leave Rocky alone!

  54. I think what you have simply proven some Malaysian's are just to politically immature to give their political opinions (Parpu Kari and Mamak Bendahara) on the internet.

Ramai sakit otak and cannot look at issues objectively. Just because ada sangkut paut sikit dgn KJ, terus jadi babi menggila. Sapa pon KJ ni? Dia bukan menantu PM lagi, hanya tinggal menantu. i dont even support this KJ, but this fever pitch over KJ is overhyped. These people are either in 1. Denial 2. Misinformed 3. Paid hacks 3. Sociopaths or just pure mentalist.

Parpu kari clearly has the intellectual capacity of sloth. His writing is pathetic and sad.

  55. HMB you are boring the shit out of us, why dont you go blog elsewhere. Or go water Mukhriz's garden. cant justify your employment with useless threats and comments.

Honestly, its not even about KJ, its that smugness you ooze through your anon blogging. 1 hour with Tun? Pah! Water his orchids too while you are at it.
