UMNO's SKA vs DAP's RBA.

Silver Kris Army vs Red Bean Army. 

There is a simpler explanation on the existence of the Red Bean UMNO. It’s a storyline directed by UMNO. Scare the daylights out of the UMNO Leaders by citing the existence of a shadowy band of cyber troopers, and then we can ask more money. The UMNO paid bloggers and cyber-stompers are asking Najib to fork out RM350 million to combat DAP’s RBA.

Somebody among the UMNO’s Silver Kris Army must be in the know about Najib’s principal weakness. Najib is paranoid about any source of opposing views especially those that eat up his credibility, that he becomes pliable and charitable. RM350million is chicken feed as long as his persona and myth remains intact. RM350million is easily recoverable in an instant.

The cheer leaders and pom-pom boys are many who would eagerly urge on Najib. Zahid Hamidi for instance in whose hands lie the tools of legitimate coercive force.  He can put an end to the McCarthyism-inspired witch-hunts and advise the insecure PM, there isn’t such a shadowy band of cyber troopers sponsored by DAP.  The money said to be spent by DAP is pure fiction.

Believe you me, DAP doesn’t even give a single sen to its candidates in the General elections. Each candidate has to muster his own funds. The only thing DAP gave was the letter of authority/surat watikah. DAP isn’t a towkay party like the 7 eleven party. If it has that amount of money, it could have been better appointed by equipping its candidates and paying off its opponents!

Instead of making political capital about it, Home Affairs Minister can ask our PDRM to locate the red bean army. I am sure we have sufficient law in existence that can lead to the prosecution of the nefarious and shadowy RBA. The RBA must have caused extensive upheavals reminiscent of Chairman Mao’s Red guards.  All that, if it exists.

There is one big problem. The RBA does not exist except in the minds of those who created it and are asking us to deal with it. The UMNO swashbucklers are asking for a mobile missile launcher to bring down a mosquito.

As part of the story line- the UMNO media and its satellite counter- thought cyber organisations make the RBA out as a revived band of Red Guard remnants finding life here in Malaysia. Its role is reversed though. Chairman Mao’s red guards were his storm troopers employed to weed out enemies of the revolution and the revisionists. Here, the so called RBA is used to overthrow an existing government.

According to the UMNO storyline, the people behind the RBA is none other than the DAP. The DAP is accused of financing the red bean army operatives to the tune of RM100 million over the last 5 years. The mission: should they accept it is to disseminate insidious propaganda to overthrow the UMNO led government and all that is dear to UMNO.

But nothing beats the call for the setting up of an RCI to investigate the RBA. That must be considered the highest form of political comic to date. For the first time in our political history, the government appears to act on a story it created. On the one hand, Zahid Hamidi says we will use the same methods to fight what the RBA does and on the same breath, his brethren appears to support the formation of an RCI, the usage of a reinstated EO, preventive detention etc. in simple words, BN is going to use the canon to get rid of the mosquito.

Who are the chief propagators of the lie? None other than the self-appointed pemangkin fikiran rakyat- Utusan Malaysia. It was UTusan who started the ball rolling by reporting about the existence of an army of cyber troopers called the Red Bean Army. Utusan Malaysia front-paged a report on the RBA, alleging that some 200 RBA members are on the DAP’s payroll earning up to RM3,000 monthly and that the party has been spending some RM1.5 million over the past six years to fund the operation. The report also claimed that the duty of the RBA is to attack any politician, businessman or entertainer who is seen as pro-BN via social media sites. Utusan Malaysia further claims that DAP spends RM108 million in past six years to employ the 200-strong Red Bean Army of cyber troopers.

And who does Utusan Malaysia cite as a legitimate and credible source of information? One disgruntled Chinaman by the name of one Shen Yee Aun who in turn cited the admission of one fan about the existence of these cyber troopers who call themselves the Red Bean Army. And Shen, a former executive secretary of DAP Youth, was one of the first few to “expose” the Red Bean Army in the mainstream media and unwaveringly stands by his allegations of these “ruthless cyber troopers”. Shen describes the Red Bean soldiers as professional netizens who manipulate and misrepresent facts not only to attack the government, but also ordinary Malaysians who pledge support to the Barisan Nasional.  Shen, claims the troopers now work full-time on a RM3,000 monthly pay.

But here is a strange twist- Shen concedes that he has no list of name but insists that the proof of its existence is there on the Internet.

Anwar's secret accounts.

Anwar Ibrahim is accused of having 20 secret accounts all over the world. The amount of money in these accounts totalled RM332 million. In exchange for that money, what has Anwar given in return? According to the BN storyline- our national security may have been exposed. We are not told how. Because that is the usual BN style- they create a storyline and ask us to deal with it. So, we will humour the storytellers.

Is Anwar selling secrets about the country to foreign powers? The BN people want to believe that is what Anwar is doing and therefore Anwar has committed treason. Anwar is a traitor. Has Anwar Ibrahim done an Edward Snowden feat?  Which is, expose some highly sensitive and secretive government covert action and by so doing, compromised our security?

Razak Baginda sold military secrets to the French firm that sold our scorpene submarines. He has committed treason. But he is free enjoying a life of perpetual salad days in England. Why isn’t he tried for treason?  He sold navy secrets to French submarine makers. He also got more than RM500 million in commissions which is more than RM332 million.

Yes let’s persecute and prosecute Anwar Ibrahim for treason so that we can bring back Razak Baginda and try him on charges of selling Malaysian Navy’s secrets. Let us humour the BN people on attempts to goal Anwar Ibrahim and see where it ends.

On the 18^th of July, the BN MPs voted against the motion to commit the MP from Simpang Renggam to the Rights and Privileges Committee. They have claimed ownership over a wrong doing and therefore must defend it at all cost.

To me the MP has misled parliament. The acid test would have been straight forward. Ask Wikileaks to verify whether they published the story about the accounts. Because the MP claimed that is his source of information. If they have not then clearly the MP has lied. He did not even read Wikileaks but to lend some legitimacy to his claim, he cited Wikileaks as his source of information.

The last time when Anwar Ibrahim accused the government of copying the concept of 1Malaysia from Israel, the government did the straightforward thing. They asked Apco the PR con-sulting firm that advised Najib to use 1Malaysia to verify. All they need do was to publish a denial. Because of that, Anwar was suspended from parliament for 6 months.

So, parliament can do the same this time. Ask Wikileaks whom the MP of Simpang Renggam claimed to be his source to verify his claim. If Wikileaks says they didn’t publish, then the MP must be subjected to the same treatment as Anwar. This must be done if only to demonstrate that parliament is consistent. Otherwise, parliament is guilty of selective committals.

My DAP colleague from Jelutong , Jeff Ooi, moved a motion to have the MP from Simpang Renggam referred to the Rights and Privileges committee. We believed the MP from Simpang Renggam misled Parliament and his accusations said under protection of parliamentary immunity is just another part in the never ending series to discredit Anwar Ibrahim.  

Of course the BN MPs will say Anwar Ibrahim no longer has credibility. The MP from Tanjung Karang has even cynically called Anwar Ibrahim as maksum or infallible. We Muslims know the hidden insinuations expressed by Tanjung Karang. Anwar Ibrahim is not infallible and we know what Tanjung Karang is referring to. The matter which he is referring to and imputing Anwar’s participation therein, is also done with equal vigour by the BN people including the PM. But I don’t have time to discuss the finer qualities of the PM in that aspect.

We believe the opposite to be true. In the end, the cause represented by Anwar will triumph for the simple reason the weight of the march of history seems to favour the cause which Anwar represents. The government lost the popular vote. Najib performed worse than Abdulah Badawi despite attempts to alleviate and reduce the damage by his minions.

The government has done everything inhumanely possible including incarcerating Anwar Ibrahim and subjecting the wife and family to all sorts of humiliations and indignations. He has managed to survive. For all those who have a little faith, this can only mean that the cause Anwar is representing will triumph eventually.

And we know, Najib’s pontificating about national reconciliation is all just cheap political rhetoric. He missed one crucial point- if you want to reconcile, you talk to your adversary. Mandela wanted reconciliation with De Klerk, he talked to De Klerk not impose preconditions. Like I first said in parliament, I can’t help those who have wet dreams when describing the leadership of Najib Razak. Najb is just buying time and trying to show to the public especially to the UMNO audience, that he is big hearted and is offering the olive branch.

Najib wants to do the classic divide an d rule and sow the seeds of suspicion. He wants to talk to Anwar without Hadi and Kit Siang. He wants to talk to Hadi, without Anwar and Kit Siang. He wants to talk to Kit Siang without talking to Hadi and Anwar. Does he want to talk to all three simultaneously?

It is plain to everyone that the MP from Simpang Renggam knows at all material time, that the accusations were not true. The party that has capacity to investigate the existence of the secret accounts is the government. They would not waste a single second if they have evidence to pounce on Anwar. The fact they did not, means they are just fabrications. Just like the fabricated story about an ex Bank Negara assistant governor making a statutory declaration that he oversaw Anwar’s RM3 billion war chest. The government wasted a lot of taxpayers’ money chasing the story and found all those to be false.

The MP from Simpang Rengam urges the government to investigate Anwar because he is concerned the security of our beloved country may be compromised. Perhaps his concern springs from an overwhelming love for our country and we are happy to tell him, that that emotion isn’t exclusive to BN MPs only. We too love this country that is why we fight against corruption, against abuse of power and against bad governance. We attack the real enemies not go chasing after windmills which we think and imagine are dragons.

The problem here is this. The Simpang Renggam MP  has misled parliament by using dubious sources of information. The Government cant act on dubious source of information as it will lead to nothing  and in the end, embarrass the government. He has indirectly admitted that his accusations were not based on any publications from Wikileaks but from a number of blogs written by prom umno supporters.

My point then is, if we are ready to lend credibility to these blogs, then we must also be equally ready to lend credibility to some similar internet material that exposed secret funds held by some of our leaders. All one needs to do is Google Najib’s secret accounts and voila- you have the following expose done several years ago.

Those in whose name we fight and in whose name we betray

Tajudin Rahman, currently a deputy minister was never known for niceness. He has always come across as crude, arrogant and condescending. The nearest term that can best describe him as a person is hubristic. That comes from the word hubris (pronounced hew-bris. It means extreme pride or arrogance and comes as a result of an overestimation of one’s own competence or capabilities. Especially when the person demonstrating these qualities is in power. Hubris is also associated with a person having a tunnel vision believing in only his rendition and explanation of things.

That is how Tajudin Rahman approached the Kuala Besut by election- in an arrogant and hubristic manner. DAP is not contesting in Kuala Besut and the core support group of the DAP- the Chinese is hardly present in Kuala Besut. Its almost 99% Malay. It’s a downtrodden extended village that has suffered or has been marginalised during uninterrupted UMNO rule at the federal level. The conditions in which the majority Besut Malays find themselves in today is the result of UMNO’s handiwork.

What else to work up the Malays? Say something about the political future of Malays, the Malay monarchy and Islam. Who else to blame other than DAP- partner to PR parties?

Tajudin has elected to fray DAP and because of its presence in PR. Maybe he is alarmed that DAP won 38 parliamentary seats and saw that ascendance as the rise of the Chinese spectre. He is ignoring the fact that Chinese form about 23% of the population. Malaysian Indians constitute about 10% of the population and other Bumiputeras constitute the rest. The country is 61% Malay, 30% non-Malay and 9% non-Malay Bumiputeras. But Tajudin sees the DAP as the biggest threat as it is seen as having the gravitational pull for those who oppose UMNO and BN.

He ignores the fact that DAP champions the cause of the poor, the marginalised, fights for a better government, better governance, fights against corruption and fights against  race supremacists. Together with other PR partners, DAP fights for those in whose name UMNO fights for and in whose name UMNO betrays by doing our bit. .  

What does UMNO do in the name of the Malays and what does UMNO actually do for the Malays? In the name of the Malays, UMNO secures political power in order to use that power entrusted to exploit the wealth of the country and distribute it largely among the elite. It’s the underlying feudal mentality at play here. Accumulate and concentrate political power and then redistribute the fruits of victory as part of their beneficence. Hence UMNO sees nothing contradictory and hypocritical in practising direct negotiations that have now morphed into selected or close tenders. The same elite is selected, and the tender closes out the non-compliant players.

 DAP is pictured as that fiendish character out to suck out blood from Malays. So if DAP wins political power, it will abolish the Monarchy and install DAP Chairman Karpal Singh as Malaysia’s president. Then, Malays will be subjected to oppressive rules. Islam will be persecuted and so forth.

Tajuddin thinks he is speaking to an imbecilic audience. Tajudin’s crude story telling must be countered by an equally crude response. What is Tajudin’s real message? His message is how to preserve Malay political dominance. That’s already achieved. Malay MPs formed the majority in parliament unless of course Tajudin regards as Malays, only the UMNO Malay MPs. As long as there are more Malay MPs in parliament, Malay political dominance is assured. What Tajudin fails to understand is not all Malays want to be UMNO’s pliant tool serving the interest of the elite group in society.

Tajudin is telling his audience that all the Malays in UMNO, PAS, PKR are all eunuchs and they will sit idly by when legitimate Malay interests are threatened. Or he thinks only the UMNO types can defend legitimate Malay interests. The others aren't Malay enough.  Hence PAS is accused as compromising its value by associating with DAP. PKR, the other partner in PR is painted as a party with extreme liberal views. It’s a party supporting the rights of gays and lesbians and the perverted. PR is also accused as being a tool serving the interest of the DAP.

What is DAP interested in? DAP is interested in a better government, better governance, no corruption, no racism, fair dealing and all that are necessary to create a better and just society. We support what the Agong said in his speech. We dedicate ourselves to the upholding of the rule of law, accountability, good governance and integrity. As Muslims, we all support these objectives and getting these is our common mission.

DAP will gladly support the alleviation of poverty done in the right manner. For instance I find the giving out of BR1M objectionable not because I oppose the giving of cash to poor and needy, but the manner it was given. It’s not UMNO’s or BN’s money- its money extracted from tax payers. The giving out should have been apolitical. Bank Negara proposed the distribution of cash directly into recipients’ accounts. The distributing banks were ready and willing to do it- but UMNO leaders wanted the cash given through them. Why? Because then, they will be able to tell the story that it’s out of UMNO’s beneficence, that you the wretched of the earth, you the voiceless, you the downtrodden,  get to enjoy this cash. So if you want more, keep us in power- we give you RM 500, allow us to wallop the billions. We who fight in your name, deserves to be rewarded as how we see fit.

So Tajudin Rahman comes into town regurgitating the usual crap- that DAP is anti-Malay, anti-Malay Monarchy, anti-Islam or anti whatever the Malay wants. That is not true. UMNO now survives on lies and misinformation.

I am telling readers from my own personal experience – I am a DAP member and got elected on a DAP ticket. My other colleagues and the leadership have never stopped me from speaking about Malay interests or about the hopes and despair of the Malays. Indeed I have and my DAP colleagues understood my position. Indeed as a Malay in Dap I can speak about the despair of the Malays freer that the UMNO MPs can.

The DAP is a political realist. Even if all the Chinese combine and unite, they have only a 23% support base. That’s numerically impossible for a united Chinese party to take over the government. They can become a vocal opposition but not govern over the majority Malays. The Malays constitute 61% of the population. All branches and levels of government are dominated by Malays. Even if Chinese take over as head of departments, almost 96% of the 1.4 million civil servants are Malays. What can the Chinese head of departments do, if the million strong Malay civil servants down their tools? The government will come to a standstill.

The DAP is not anti-Islam. The problems facing the Muslim ummah have nothing to do with the DAP. I hope Muslims don’t get offended. We can’t force others to get converted and we can’t use that as a reason to oppress them in direct and indirect ways. If we Muslims spend as much time looking after our own house instead of trying to Islamise others, we will be better off. Each year we spend millions in the name of Islam media-hyping about all things Islam- we have the ubiquitous dakwah programs in the media, we get excited at the sermons of hallelujah-ing clerics. But if we Muslims stop to ponder- the biggest portion of sex offenders, sex miscreants, drug addicts, juvenile crimes is made up of Malay Muslims. What does this mean? It means the programs proselytizing Islam made-for-the- media does not work.

So do we blame the DAP for our own shortcomings? This is not a put down on my well-meaning friends in the government, but as a Malay and a Muslim I am asking all of us Malays and Muslims to look at our own house first. The DAP is not responsible for the bad things that is happening to the Malays and Muslims.

UMNO Baruputra: Melayu itu dan Melayu ini, rakyat juga yang ketinggalan

Isiu ini terus dimainkan oleh UMNO. Kalau UMNO tewas maka masa depan orang Melayu akan musnah. Oleh yang demikian, orang Melayu mesti terus menyokong UMNO. Tapi untuk tujuan apa? Supaya mereka yang kita beri kuasa boleh terus mengayakan golongan UMNO Baruputra? Keadaan rakyat Melayu ketinggalan dibelakang. UMNO menjerit sana sini mengenai Melayu itu dan ini. Tapi yang merasai nikmat dari kuasa politik yang rakyat beri ialah putera bangsawan, putera pemimpin UMNO, putera dan puteri kroni UMNO dan putera pegawai tinggi kerajaan.

Perkara ini saya dengar juga selama saya berada dalam persidangan dewan rakyat. Teriakan Melayu itu dan Melayu ini lantang kita dengar. Kadang2 dalam nada yang bellicose dan mengajak kita bergaduh.

Yang berteriak Melayu ini dan Melayu itu lupa bahawa lebih ramai orang Melayu menolak mereka. Dari jumlah 11.23juta yang keluar mengundi, jumlah Melayu ialah 65% atau 7.3 juta.

UMNO dan BN mendapat 3.4juta undi Melayu. Ini bererti 3.9 juta orang Melayu menolak BN berbanding dengan 3.4 juta. UMNO sendiri secara keseluruhan mendapat 3.2 juta undi yakni sama dengan jumlah ahli UMNO.

Maka yang menjerit melayuitu dan ini, menjerit atas otoriti apa? Majority Melayu tidak bersama kamu.

Kita nak tanya, apa parti Melayu yang terbesar lakukan selama mereka perintah. Sejak 1955 hingga hari ini, yang perintah kerajaan persekutuan ialah perikatan dan BN yang dikepalai oleh UMNO.

Pendapatan purata orang kampong yang majority nya Melayu sekitar RM3000 sebulan. Ini angka purata. Dalam kawasan saya Raub, saya tidak tahu bagaimana sebahagian besar rakyat Melayu mencari pendpatan. Mereka hanya berkerja kampong atau makan gaji sebagai buruh menorah getah. Dengan harga getah yang amat rendah keluaga Melayu yang hanya mempunyai pendapatan sebanyak RM200 sebulan pun ramai?

Maka pendapatan purata RM3000 sebulan tidak bererti apa apa kepada orang Melayu. Sebahagian besar berada diluar linkungan pendapatan purata ini. Tapi, kebetulan itulah dianya tahap kelayakan menerima BR1M. maka BR1M sebetulnya pengesahan bahawa orang Melayu miskin selama berada dalam pemerintahan UMNO.

Pendapatan purata orang Melayu 70% dan 85% dari pendapatan purata Cina dan India. Ini bemakna, yang paling miskin ialah Melayu. Setelah berbilion dibelanjakan dan setelah puluhan dasar dijalankan. Setelah puluhan tahun memerintah, 7.2 juta Melayu berpendapatn kurang dan RM1700. 8.7 juta dengan pendapatan RM1500. Pekali gini atau gini coefficient Melayu sekitar 0.421 dikalangan Melayu menunjukkan perbezaaan pendapatan antara kaya dan miskin Melayu masih meluas walaupun sudah diperbaiki semenjak 2009. Pekali untuk Malaysia ialah 0.431. sehingga 2012, incidence of poverty dikalangan Melayu yakni peratusan Melayu yang jatuh dibawah garis kemiskinan ialah 2.2% .

Saya mengajak pembaca Melayu merenung perkara ini. Yang menerpa kepada kita memohon bantuan kebajikan ialah Melayu. Yang menerjah kita apabila ada malapetaka dan bencana alam ialah Melayu. Yang memohon bantuan kewangan untuk ke hospital untuk  mendapaat rawatan khusus dan memerlukan wang nak hantar sekolah ialah Melayu. Jika mak dan bapa bermula sebagai penerima bantuan JKM, anak pun sama mewarisi status ini. Bahkan untuk bayar rumah dan bil api pun yang datang memohon pertolongan ialah orang Melayu.

Yang meraung tidak dapat hak milik tanah yang diusahakan 30-40 tahun ialah Melayu. Jadi, melayu yang macam mana BN tolong?

UMNO tolong UMNO Baruputra. Ketua eksekutif yang bergaji 400 ribu keatas dan 1.2 juta sebulan? Malah ada yang jadi menteri , tahun lepas mendapat gaji dan emolument RM6-7 juta. Melayu jenis ini tidak kisah tak dapat hak milik, tak tahu pun apa jkm, tak tahu perasaan ditimpa bencana alam, tak peka hidup dalam gerobok usang, tidak tertekan mahu menyegolahkan anak dan sebagainya.

Jadi jeritan Melayu itu dan ini yang berkumandang dalam dewan rakyat selama saya bersidang hanya hipokrasi hendak menunjuk2 si penjerit menjuarai kepentingan Melayu. Bagaimana teriakan yang kuat menyelesaikan masaalah kemiskinan dan keterbelakangan Melayu?

Jeritan bukan ganti kepada integriti, tataselia yang baik, kerajaan yang bersih dan cekap, pematuhan kepada pemerintahan ikut undang2 dan akauntabiliti. Jeritan dan pekikan bukan ganti kepada dasar yang jujur dan ikhlas.
