Fixing Up Dr Mahathir- the Man who can walk on water

How to bring down DR Mahathir down to size? Here are a few options Herr Fuad Zarkashi may want to consider.

•         Exposing his misdeeds during a 22 year reign? 
•         Saying Dr Mahathir has been misinformed especially by DAP? 
•       Saying DR Mahathir is senile? 
•         Saying Dr Mahathir is lying? 
•         Just ignoring Dr Mahathir and insisting Najib is the best there was, is and will be ever be? 
•         And saying Dr Mahathir is behaving this way because the government doesn’t want to give money to Proton? 
•         Saying Dr Mahathir is angry because Najib ditched Mukhriz in favour of the not so bright Hishamudin? 
•        Employing TUn Musa Hitam to discredit Mahathir? 
• saying DR Mahathir has been bought over by PKR and wants to replace Anwar as leader? 

Najib is letting his underlings to counter attack Dr Mahathir. I am afraid, PM Najib has been defeated even before entering the ring.

Najib will be treated lightly because he treats Dr Mahathir’s attacks lightly. He is allowing second-raters to defend him since, perhaps because his highly paid PR consultants are having the most severe of hang-ups after some heavy partying and strenuous physical exertions.

I am hearing ridiculous but feeble counter attacks. Such as Tun M and his cohorts are not fit to speak on 1MDB. He is fit to because he can. He has unlimited access to information. Some UMNO leaders are also giving him the information. We are only hearing the beginning.

Anyone can talk on 1MDB if they have some knowledge about it. Sarawak Report has made it a career. My colleague Tony Pua, the MP for PJ Utara can speak about 1MDB even while sleeping. Rafizi Ramli from PKR can do a similar feat. There are many more in DAP and PKR who can speak about this. Ong Kian Meng, the brainy MP from Serdang can give a schematic presentation of 1MDB in a jiffy. Cikgu Bard can also tell people.

I am saying- an enemy to an enemy is our friend. Let’s treat Dr Mahathir as such.

Dr Mahathir has lent credence to the expose. He is after all a former PM with 22 years’ experience in governing Malaysia. During those 22 years, - sure, he can be accused for many wrongdoings if anyone can unearth them. During such a long time, many things can be attributed to Mahathir.

If there are many, why doesn’t the government release them? Tell the world then.

Because whatever Dr Mahathir did is past us and also more importantly, the entire present UMNO cabinet members is part of the roaring Mahathir years. Najib included.

But the wrongs done by Mahathir cannot justify what PM Najib and his people are doing to this country at the moment.

I think many people are missing the point in Dr Mahathir’s message. It’s lucky that Najib is not a sexual deviant like Dr Mahathir believes Anwar is. Except for that belief, Dr Mahathir is saying the same about Najib- Najib is morally unfit to remain as PM.

The measure by which Najib’s morality is impeached, is the murder case of Altantuya. The IGP is avoiding the issue- DR Mahathir has come out with some insinuations, the IGP side winded the issue by saying PDRM has talked to Sirul. The one who is talking is Dr Mahathir and the person being asked is someone else?

Just because 2 policemen have been convicted for the brutal extermination of the Mongolian woman Altantuya, it does not mean we have a closure. It does not matter how many years the bestial event took place, as the public believes that is not the end of the story. There was somebody killed brutally and no one believes the policemen, did the deed while on a frolic.

If Dr Mahathir suggests the case be re-investigated and reopened, we can be sure he knows more than we mere mortals do.

The Man who can walk on Water, THe Hermit and The Fox

Saya ada  memberitahu seorang pemimpin UMNO yang masih mahu berkawan dengan saya walapun saya parti DAP, bahawa there’s a method in Dr Mahathir’s madness.

Saya beritahu dia, Dr Mahathir ini methodical. Dia akan bedah satu persatu. Once he’s on to something, dia akan pursue it to the end.

DR Mahathir is on to kick out Najib. Dia akan berjaya. Kita telah lihat ini berlaku. 
Sejarah akan buktikan bahawa kejayaan seorang pemimpin besar termasuklah menyediakan pengganti yang baik.

Selama ini, kita measure kejayaan Mahathir dalam bentuk Pak Lah dan Najib. Bila kita lihat Pak Lah dan sekarang Najib, kita kondem Mahathir sebagai gagal. 
Sebenarnya measure greatness Dr Mahatir ialah dalam bentuk 2 pemimpin yang sepatutnya Malaysia dapat- Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah dan Musa Hitam. Ini dua orang yang ada keberanian bercakap apa yang perlu dpercakapkan.

Minat dan kepentingan saya ialah melhat orang yang ganti Najib itu yang adalah orang yang diperlukan Malaysia hari ni. Seorang yang boleh meletakkan Malaysia on an even keel dengan foundasi yang diperkukuhkan.

Malaysia memerlukan kombinasi kepimpinan yang tegas dan pengasih pada waktu yang sama- yakni tegas melalui rule of law, jalankan dasar ekonomi untuk negara, asas hubungan social untuk seluruh bangsa Malaysia, keadilan untuk Sabah dan Sarawak.

Hanya ada seorang sahaja yang fits the bill. Orang itu ialah Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. Disini ada seorang pemimpin yang sedia bertegas tapi dengan menggunakan rule of law.

Penasihat DAP Lim Kit Siang pun sudah menyatakan bahawa masa nya sudah tiba, sebuah kerajaan perpaduan yang dibina atas prinsip2 yang betul boleh diujudkan. Prinsip ini adalah prinsip universal sebuah negara yang dipilih secara demokratik, memuliakan rule of law dan menjalankan dasar2 mendorong rakyat buat baik dan menolak segala kejahatan dan kerosakan. Inilah maqasid berkerajaan.

Bahkan Encik lim pun sudah membayangkan bahawa pemimpin baru yang membentuk kerajaan yang demikian, jika datang dari pasukan BN pun tidak mengapa. Itu satu political concession yang berani dari Lim Kit Siang- sebab overriding interest nya ialah selamatkan Malaysia untuk semua.

Jangan pedulilah dengan nama2 yang disebut oleh Kit Siang tersebut. Nama2 yang disebut Kit Siang hanya penghias. Kalau mesej demikian , disambut dengan buat pekak oleh Ku Li, maka Malaysia tidak ada masa depan.

Masa nya sudah tiba untuk si petapa dari Langgak Golf keluar dari pertapaan. Bukan kita ni menungkat langit.

Dr Mahathir sudah keluar dengan kritik nya yang paling keras. Nampaknya umur yang hampir 90 tahun tidak memperlahankan Dr Mahathir dan Dr Mahathir mempunyai masa yang cukup rasanya. Dia pernah beritahu bahawa keturunan nya berumur panjang. Jika tidak dia pergi ke Jepun untuk rawatan  mata, kritikan ini keuar bulan mac lagi.dulu, saya ada tulis suatu artikel beware the ides of March.Nyatalahlah, Mahathir tidak suffer impaired vision.

Sekarang perkara yang disebut2- yakni assassination politik keatas Najib sudah mula bermula.

Mahathir telah mengkritik Najib melalui isiu2 yang paling hangat. Antara isiu2 yang saya jangka lebih kritikal daripada yang lain ialah kes Altantuya. Kita akan lihat isiu ini lah yang akan menjahanamkan Najib akhirnya.

Tidak ada orang yang sengaja suka2 atas perasaan sendiri, mundar mandir secara tiba2 rasa , hari ini mahu bunuh orang. Berlawanan dengan pendirian mahkamah, rakyat mahu tahu niat, mau tahu siapa perintah dua anggota polis dan sebagai nya. 

Tugas sesiapa yang memimpin negara nanti ialah membuka kes ini semula, order a retrial, cari pembuktian yang cukup untuk panggil Razak Baginda dan menimbang segala sudut dan keterangan.Yang akan mengejutkan ialah penemuan bahawa Razak B mungkin tidak salah apa2.

Isiu2 lain seperti 1MDB boleh lagi ditepis oleh para juak nya- dengan 1001 alasan. Dalam parlimen pun- sampai tidak kuasa hendak jawab sebab MP2 BN dari UMNO khususnya- akan kata apa yan hendak takut- nilai assets lebih dari nilai tanggungan.

Kita dah lama dengar penerangan simpletons. Cakap kepada jkkk bolehlah. Cakap kepada anggota RELA boleh. Cakap kepada anngota KEMAS bolehlah. Cakap kepada ketua blok Felda bolehlah.

Semua orang tahu, assets jadi berguna jika ianya dicairkan dan diguna untuk menyelesaikan tanggungan seperti beban hutang. Nilai aset 1MDB lebih besar hanya kerana nilai 2 hartanah yang diperolehi dengan cara menipu- iaitu tanah untuk Tun Razak exchange dan tanah sungai besi dibeli dengan harga yang murah.

Yang mengherankan, tanah kerajaan dibeli dengan murah- tapi tanah milik orang UMNO di Pulau Pinang dibeli dengan harga tipu sebab ada markup tinggi untuk puak UMNO.

Disini ada masaalah orang Melayu. penipuan oleh orang UMNO tidak mengapa. Kita boleh maafkan. Sebab pelaku salah bangsa kita orang Melayu. Kalau orang Melayu buat, umno pulak tu, lagi tidak mengapa.

Macamlah dalam dunia ini, orang yang Melayu  itu hanya orang UMNO.

DR Mahathir telah tunjuk dalam bahasa mudah- bahawa Najib tidak ada suatu ciri terpenting untuk jadi PM- tidak ada kepimpinan. Akhirnya seperti  kata orang putih, the chickens have come home to roost.

Negara dan rakyat menyedari bahawa selama ini, Najib yang mereka kenal itu hanya suatu imej dan ‘idea’ kepimpinan yang dicipta oleh pereka imej politik Najib. Najib is an invented leader.

Terutama yang dimetoskan oleh image consultant pemabuk dan kaki enjoy orang puteh yang orang sudah tahu tentang keberadaan nya dalam pasukan punahsihat Najib.

Dia tidak ada kepimpinan sebab itu segala bentuk kerosakan berlaku di Malaysia. Harga kos kehidupan makin meninggi, nilai matawang Malaysia merudum. Hutang awam kian meningkat merentasi tahap 55% GDP.

Dan yang paling menakutkan, rakyat tanya, bolehkah kita rely on the validity and integrity angka2 ini?

Mengenai hutang awam- saya sendiri menulis banyak kali, ianya sudah merentasi 55%- sebab ia tidak mempelihatkan nilai contingent liabilities, perbelanjaan yang tidak direkodkan atau disokong oleh dokumentasi, dan  macam2 lagi silap mata.

Dan Najib belanja macam orang hilang akal. Pergi merata pelusuk negara- syarah pada orang ramai belanja berhemah. Rakyat puteh mata lihat Najib beli kapal terbang baru untuk kegunaan dirinya dan Rosmah sedangkan kita sudah ada banyak kapal terbang.

Dan cara belian nya- seperti yang saya katakan- hanya alasan untuk buat orag2 tertentu jadi kaya.

Cara belian ini, cara orang2 penipu dan kaki songlap duit kerajaan. Mengapa perlu sewa balik kapal terbang dari seorang individu dengan bayaran sewa yang tinggi? Kemudian bila habis tempoh, kapal terbang itu jadi milik tuan punya semula. Siapa individu ini dan apa kaitan dengan Najib atau isteri Najib?

Kan kita ada syarikat yang membeli kapal terbang untuk MAS? Mengapa tidak suruh syarikat ini sahaja yang beli, maintain dan sewa kepada kerajaan untuk kegunaan Najib dan keluarga dan pemimpin negara kita?

Janganlah membudakkan kita dengan mengatakan bahawa belian ini perlu kerana menjaga keselamatan pemimpin kita dan menjaga rosmah mansor yang mulia hati nya. Kalau nak jaga keselamatan, nailk kapal terbang awam. Kalau tak yakin dengan MAS dan Air Asia, naik SIA atau kapal terbang lain. Ada safety in numbers.

Kita boleh yakin, bila Mahathir mulakan sesuatu, dia bukan main2. Bila Mahathir tanya,bererti, dia ada maklumat yang lagi lengkap. Brace yourselves folks!

Satu hari saya bertanya dengan Tun Daim Zainudin- apa means yang Dr Mahathir nak guna untuk jatuhkan Najib? Dr Mahathir bukan ada resources untuk jatuhkan Najib- dia bukan presiden UMNO dan dalam UMNO ramai penyokong Najib macam Syed Ali al Habshi al Cherasi?

TDZ jawab- DR Mahathir hanya perlu ada 30 orang or so ketua bahagian yang diberitau dan dimaklumi akan irrefutable evidence mengenai kerosakan yang dilaukan oleh Najib. Mereka ini simply akan berdepan dengan Najib dan berkata- look ini semua bukti2 yang tidak boleh dipertahankan- baik kamu berhenti sebelum semua UMNO hancur.

Mesej Dr Mahathir sangat jelas- masa nya sudah tiba untuk Najib undur. Saya tanya Tun Daim- kalau Najib undur sipa ganti-. Dia kata UMNO will find its own level.

Saya kata kita tidak kira- siapa pun ganti Najib, kita akan masak penggantinya. Tun daim hanya ketawa.

Sekarang seorang lagi, PM yang kita sepatutnya dapat sudah lama dahulu- iaitu MP Gua Musang, Ku Li pun menyatakan perkara yang sama. Beberapa minggu yang lalu, sebelum Ku LI memberi ucapan nya buat pertama kali setelah berkurun lama nya tidak, soldadu2 Najib menggelupur berjumpa dan menalipon Ku Li- janganlah bantai Najib teruk sangat. Dan kita lihat Ku Li telah deliver speech yang tidak menyakitpun dan Najib breathed a relief.

Tapi mesej sebenar Ku Li ialah- kalau Najib tidak buck up- mesej nya ialah you have to go. Kamu merosakkan seluruh Malaysia.

Kali ini, Ku Li keluar dengan kenyataan megulangi apa yang Mahathir mahu. Dan Ku Li pun tahu, isiu yang akan menjatuhkan Najib ialah isiu pembunuhan Altantuya.

Dr Mahathir dan Ku Li , dua musuh tradisi kali ini bersatu dalam fikiran, menyatakan kepada Najib- sila berhenti , selamatkan Malaysia.

Ada seorang lagi yang patut keluar dengan kenyataan conscience nya untuk menyatakan mengenai rotten state of affairs dalam dunia Hamlet Najib ini- Musa Hitam. Janganlah keluar kenyataan dari luar negara sahaja- Tun Musa mesti ketepikan sikap natural nya untuk menyatakan opposite what Dr Mahathir says- dan kata apa yang perlu didengari oleh rakyat Malaysia. Bahawa Malaysia perlu diselamatkan dengan menukar PM.

Saya kenal secara peribadi dengan TMH sejak beberap tahun dan saya tahu pemikiran nya. Mungkin tidak setahu Shahrir Samad- tapi Musa Hitam kata, setiap kali hendak bercerita dengan Shahrir, Shahrir lari.

Tidak perlu saya khabarkan, the real thoughts of Musa Hitam. Yang saya boleh ceritakan ialah natural inclination TMH untuk bercanggahan pendapat dengan Dr Mahathir. Its time dia pun bercakap benar megenai negara kita dibawah the insouciant leadership of Najib Tun Razak.

The Free Muslim Man

In The Quran; in the chapter 5, verse 40(Quran 5:40), the relationship between God who punishes and forgives and the intermediaries who punish and (never) forgive on his behalf is laid out.

Using Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s translation and commentary of The Holy Quran, the verse says: knoweth thou not, that to Allah alone belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth? He punisheth whom He pleaseth, and He forgiveth whom He pleaseth: And Alah hath power Over All things.

I think the issue is finally settled. The idea that a handful of men- 3-5 people intermediating on God’s behalf and dispensing justice on His behalf on humankind, is abhorrent. It is repellent to the idea the free Muslim man.

To the free Muslim man, the justice dispensed by mortal man is absolutely challengeable. That is our attitude to the people in Kelantan in authority, who plan to carry out hudud punishments on their fellowmen. We don’t oppose the hudud laws, but we reserve our inalienable right to challenge the idea that it is permissible for a handful of men to act on behalf of God.

The issue not settled is the condition of the Muslim and his country. The Muslims are the poorest, income distribution among them is the most unfair, their educational and skill levels lagged behind that of other communities, they are engaged in economic activities drawing lesser incomes, business in their country is dominated by others, they lived in less desirable homes, their society and the country are ravaged by endemic corruption which has become second nature, the government profligate and careless.

The free Muslim man accepts and believes that Islam is thoroughly capable by reason of its inner spiritual force, of adaptation to the changing conditions of any age. That was one of central themes in the seminal ideas of great Muslim thinkers like Jamaludin alAfghani and Sheikh Muhd. Abduh.

The central purpose of Muslim nowadays is to get this country and as many Islamic nations in the world, out of theological rigidity, find the liberating force within Islam to overcome the limitations to their advancement.

The first priority of the free Muslim man is to ask how can he and his fellow persons do and say to retake Islam from being hijacked by a handful of persons who have turned it into a religion representing all that is bad about Islam and Muslims.

Islam itself has taken a lot of beatings. It’s a maligned religion. Allow me to explain.

Islamic politics? Just as a free market economy requires liberal democracy as its incubator, Islamic state appears to succeed only when it’s brought forth to this world through the barrel of the gun.

When someone from ISMA mentioned that the political process of democracy is a hindrance to the birth of an Islamic state and therefrom, the application of complete shariah law, no one seems to notice the incendiary nature of the remark. On the other hand, a report that the Council of Rulers rejected the Kelantan hudud bill, was taken as an assault on the institution of Malay rulers. The Council of Malay rulers did not suffer any ill repute. It will have to consider the bill when it is brought before it.

Now, as we are informed, the Council of Rulers did not even consider the bill and therefore made no decision on it. Then, what are we to make of the intention of Haji Hadi to table a private bill in parliament before it’s even brought before the Council?  When, by the terms of reference of the joint technical committee on hudud, the bill would have to be submitted to the Rulers Council and thereafter, be tabled in parliament by a federal minister.

The fact that Haji Hadi now intends to table a private member’s bill, suggests that the bill had in fact been submitted to the Rulers council where it failed and therefore does not require the tabling of the bill by a federal minister in parliament.

The storyline then will be the federal minister concerned  obeyed the Kings while Haji Hadi defied them.

As far as I can search the records in parliament, a private member’s bill hasn’t succeeded in the Malaysian parliament. So, the intended tabling by haji Hadi will be a non-event or even a nonstarter.

Be that as it may, we need to discuss the Hudud issue.

Islamic Justice? The system is maligned and calumniated as a system hurriedly seeking to severe limbs and lob off heads rather than establish a compassion and kindness based justice system that seeks to accommodate human frailties, however base they are.

Islamic economics? Also aspersed as a system that merely replaces usury with Islamic banking concepts and a system that justifies the concentration of wealth by the elites as being of divine design.

The fact remains, the Muslims are rich only because they get to be that way because of their positions which allow them to demand exactions; 90% of the top 10% Muslims in Malaysia got rich because they were given licenses, quotas,. The got rich because they are essentially rent seekers. The rest of the Muslims, whether PAS cares to admit or deny, are poor.

PAS wants the enforce hudud when the Muslims remain the poorest, backward, deprived of progress and advancement, desire prosperity, education and skills. It seems that PAS is out of touch with reality. PAS wants to enforce hudud on the rubber tappers, the share croppers, the pasar tani vendors, the fish resellers, the impoverished, and the BR1M recipients.

These are already among the most devout, submitting to the divine will, expecting and praying for compassion and deliverance and not punishment.

The unintended effect will be to bring Islam into public odium and contempt. Some people want to rush in to carry out cutting off limbs, behead people, crucify, have people whipped etc.  Carried out hurriedly will only calumniate the concept of Islamic justice when all around, the Muslims lived in poverty and backwardness. Surely this is not the idea of Islamic Justice.

What is the reasonable Muslim’s priority?

The reasonable Muslim is asking , they be allowed to be as Muslim as they can be, while pursuing worldly needs. They do want to be cultivated as Muslims- they don’t want to have their hands and legs cut off, nor having their persons whipped and lashed.

The declaration that its (PAS’s) priority is Allah’s redha (divine acceptance, blessed approbation) rather than mankind’s improvement is somewhat pompously selfish I think. That kind of stand is more appropriate for the monkish missionary. If there are many of them with that mind-set, they are more suited to be in missionary movements.

The purpose of all worldly political movements is the advancement and betterment of mankind in the present.

The reasonable Muslim does not want to defy Allah- have hudud laws in place but can we have a moratorium on their application until we sort out priorities. It’s not that having hudud unapplied, we become lesser Muslims. If there are grounds to apply a moratorium on the application of hudud punishments permissible within Islam itself, the reasonable Muslim wants that.
