Tatkala Kucing Tiada, Tikus2 semua keluar bermain.

Ketika Itu Shahrir Samad just wanted to prove a point against Mahathir.

We still cannot tell what happened to MH370. Let us offer our prayers

People think this is a joke. Asking untutored and diversionary questions when lives are involved. There were more than 200 people on-board MH370.  I take issue with the way the authorities talked to the press and how the press people, spotted-face and all, asked ill-prepared questions.
In the earlier article, I related about a question posed by a western journalist to the air force general, about the possible turnaround of the plane. He didn’t answer clearly whether this action was caught on radar. Or he couldn’t give a conclusive answer because the plane went off radar detection instantaneously as it appeared. An isolated bleep as it were, on the radar could not allow him to offer definitive answers.
On this part, he was giving the answer as he only could. So his inability to give a more rigorous answer on this part was excusable. But as to the question on assets mobilised, he was evasive.  He couldn’t reveal that we don’t have mission capable assets could he? Or embarrassingly we don’t have any assets for the purpose in mind.
If the plane did turn around after the pilot realised something was amiss, it’s strange that our radar did not pick it up. It was as though, if the pilot did decide to turn back, he could not send a distress signal because all the system in the cockpit blacked out. It’s as though, there was a sudden catastrophic electronic, electrical malfunction. All systems in the cockpit suddenly blacked out cutting off communications completely. The plane as a result of the law of motion would still be moving ahead.
The people from Boeing and the people from MAS agreed that this type of plane is one of the most reliable. In the end, we have to talk and ask questions from people who have actually flown this type of plane- the pilots.
Now according to some senior pilots, catastrophic technical malfunctions on the system in the cockpit have been known to occur rendering the pilot and his co-pilot utterly incapacitate. If this is true, MAS should recall the experts from Boeing to explain so that MAS can offer details to the public. We must do this to eradicate completely any notion of human error on the part of the pilots.
A possible scenario could be like this as explained by some senior pilots because they have experienced so. After take-off and cruising at an altitude of 35,000 feet, all system in the cockpit suddenly went off. The cockpit was rendered totally dark causing the pilots complete loss in bearing. Outside it was also pitch black because at that height the pilots could not see anything. It was 2 in the morning. They couldn’t know their present location, their speed, their altitude etc. the pilots could at that time tried to turn back but could not send out any distress call because all systems in the cockpit has crashed. They were flying blind at that time. The passengers at the back did not know of anything that was occurring in the cockpit.
As grim and sad as it may be, our efforts must now be channelled to locate possible wreckage. Our decision to muster 1778 deep-sea fishing vessels means that we are now looking for anything floating around.
It’s not quite correct to admit the possibility of the plane being hijacked by some terrorists because by now, the plane would have landed somewhere and demands being made. At that altitude, the plane could not disappear from radar even if the pilots were forced to cut off the system completely because; Boeing has designed the system as such that the pilots could not override the system. Not, unless all systems in the cockpit did actually suffer a catastrophic malfunction.
If it did turn around, the plane may have gone to the other side of the ocean – the west coast. Off Penang, Langkawi, the straits of Malacca. If the plane did that, then the air force general’s statement that some assets were mobilised to the west coast does have some logic.
The fact that we are looking for signs of leaked fuselage and other floating wreckage means we don’t have sophisticated equipment to scour the ocean floor. That could only be possible if physical entry onto the ocean floor is made. As to why no wreckage is found, we have to know that the South China Sea is 3km deep. The technology that we have probably can detect up to 600-700 metres deep.
This is a tragic period for all of us. Let us offer our prayers according to our respective faiths for all those on board. To all who have experienced the loss of loved ones, either timely or not, do understand how it feels to bear and endure the loss.

MH370 and our Crisis Management

Our thoughts and sympathies are with the relatives of the passengers and crew of MH370. But until today, we have not received straight answers from Malaysian authorities. The social network has been inundated with wishes of condolences and prayers. The anguish is insurmountable made worse by evasive answers from Malaysian authorities. This is a collective grief shared by all.
The whole country is enraged.  We know that MAS is doing everything possible to console families of the missing persons. It will expend every possible resource. While we agonize, the MAS people are manning the crisis centre every minute.
No, we are not playing the blame game but a lot of questions need answering. Its not the time to sweep things under the carpet either. Our Crisis management for example. The resources at our disposal.
Our crisis management is in tatters. We don’t have a Ghazali Shafie who handled the hijacking from the Japanese Red Army. Hishamudin as usual speaks like the stupid jock that he is.  Just now I heard that he is stating that the Chinese authorities are satisfied with the work the Malaysian authorities are doing.
Hah? I was also reading as did others, a pro-Beijing newspaper lashing out at Malaysian authorities for their lackadaisical attitude in handling this matter. An UMNO supporter even uploaded an aerial photo showing many ships in Singapore harbour to show that Malaysia has mustered so many ‘assets’ to conduct its search and rescue. Malaysia must be desperate.
One feels that Malaysian authorities are more eager to manage its public relations persona than taking the bull by its horns. Answers are not forthcoming and the media statement given by Ahmad Jauhari Yahya is not explaining anything.
If news is not coming out fast and truthful enough, can the IGP stop people from scouring for news on the internet news portals? If they do are they committing a crime? If the government is incapable to give straight answers, we earn the right to look elsewhere.
I was listening over the radio while driving from Raub. Journalists were asking MAS top brass and the chief of Air force for details on the ill-fated flight. Until there is a closure and definitive answer, we are hoping for the best and preparing for the worse. Why can’t we get straight answers from MAS or the DCA or the Transport minister? Every twist suggested by spotted-face journalists was eaten up by the interviewer as an escape route enabling them to say, we don’t discount this and that.
The revelation that two passengers used stolen passports was eagerly taken up by authorities to entertain the idea of a possible terrorist act. This is no laughing matter.
Some vague readings on whatever, are taken up as possibilities that the aircraft made a turnaround. We spent more than RM100 million equipping DCA with the latest technical surveillance and tracking system, we can’t still point out where the plane was. We spent an equal amount of money for the immigration; our officers cannot differentiate an Asiatic face from a Caucasian’s.  This is like not being able to differentiate spaghetti from kebab.
Our journalists not trained to be sharp did not take up on this issue. I heard a voice from a Caucasian asking the air force general did the statement that the plane made a turnaround supported by readings on the radar whereupon, the air force general went out in a circular manner without actually answering the question.
When asked about assets used to conduct search and rescue, the general and the MAS CEO can only aver that the number of assets was increased. Where are our RM9 billion patrol vessels? Where are our vessels built by Amin Shah later taken over by Boustead? Can’t we despatch our famed submarines?
But what exactly are the assets used on our Malaysian side? Search and rescue of this kind require sophisticated under water detection capabilities. Do we have these? Instead we seem to rely on Singapore assets and Australian assets. What about all those ships which we bought at humungous costs? Where are they?
So can the government please answer us straight- are our assets mission capable? How many did we employ?
While it’s commendable, it’s also laughable that now it’s emerging that the assets we are going to use are 1778 deep sea fishing boats owned by our fishermen.
Power to Awang the Fisherman. That was a title of a chapter in a book I read in standard one. Ah Chong the market gardener and Ramasamy the rubber tapper.

A Nation that has lost its Soul.

The villainy you teach me, I will execute, and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction.
Merchant of Venice.

I hope Najib and his merry men remember our solemn pledge above. The persecution of Anwar Ibrahim is a villainy that Najib teaches us. We will execute the same villainy but will be better at it.
After the latest episode involving Anwar, our agenda when we take Putrajaya through perfectly legal and democratic means, is clear. Our agenda includes, reform of the judiciary, reforming the PDRM, empowering SPRM, restructuring the civil service. We will do all these and much more in more refined manner. We will extract the same justice on our persecutors.
The people of Kajang need only ask- was it justice for one person that the government seeks? To answer yes is unconscionable. This time next year, people will be asking saiful who? This person is just a pawn on UMNO’s political chessboard.
The resources the government brought to bear to do Anwar in, suggests that it’s no longer justice that it seeks- but persecution and political execution. In that process, the country has lost its soul; the Malays in particular has lost their moral compass.
For 16 long years, the government spent money and resources to an extraordinary amount to seek the end of Anwar. Anwar Ibrahim was regarded as public enemy number one. He is more dangerous than terrorists. The only other person to share this ignominy at one point in time is the present Minister of Youth. He has since been rehabilitated and now has become the one of the government’s chief apologist. In particular Najib’s.
How have the Malay lost their soul and moral compass? For 16 years they have put up with the government’s daily bombardment of calculated demonising and humiliation of Anwar and his family. The government owned TV stations allocate unexplainable longer time on deviant sexual behaviours, on Anwar’s sexual preference, on Anwar’s sexual trysts; Anwar is a faggot, Anwar violates young boys, Anwar made it out with wives and so on so forth. Would the government spend inordinately huge amount of resources and material on an accused if the accused didn’t have the name Anwar Ibrahim?
Precisely because the accused is Anwar, makes the government wants its pound of flesh and blood too.
Yong children watched TV and listened to news about explicit government exposures and revelations. Muslim children were taught to accept that humiliating a person publicly; subjecting the family members to mental cruelty is a normal Muslim conduct. The susceptible Malays grow up into unrecognizable Malays who are no longer sublime and refine. Big government has taken over the moral education of our young.
We will just be feeding off the un-naturalised innocence of the younger generation when we turn the other cheek on UMNO when we come into power. By which time, whatever cruelty we mete out to our former transgressions and abusers will be taken as natural.

Sekarang Tugas Rakyat Kajang Tambah Mudah!

Ketika bersalaman dengan Anwar Ibrahim malam kelmarin(sabtu), dia menyebut betapa teruknya pemerintahan Najib hari ini. Saya faham maksud nya.
Bila bersalam, saya rasa seram – maklum sahajalah mursyidul am UMNO- Dr Mahathir bersabda no one is safe with Anwar Ibrahim around.
Selongkar semua. Bukan setakat tinkering here and there. Reformasi system kehakiman akan dicapai bila kita singkirkan the top 15-20 judges. Tukar pimpinan tentera. Tukar pimpinan polis. Menstruktur semua penjawat awam kita. Kembalikan kuasa kepada kerajaan negeri dibawah system federalism. Kita investigate institusi pegam negara.
Seperti biasa not a squeak from Najib yang terus menikus.
Pilihan rakyat Kajang menjadi senang.
The buffoon Ibrahim Ali sudah menunjukkan keangkuhan nya bila menyatakan bahawa mahkamah lenient bila menjatuhkan hukuman 5 tahun keatas Anwar.
Come next year, orang UMNO akan bertanya, saiful siapa?
