Today The People of Teluk Intan make History by voting in the youngest MP

Today is last day of campaigning.
I have just come back from the final day of our campaigning in Teluk Intan. I did two ceramahs just now. One was at the OCBC square by the Chinese Temple. The square was filled with thousands of people. And it was only 8pm.
The other one was at a Malay stronghold in Kampong Banjar. In the last GE, Kampung Banjar went to the DAP candidate with a 480 vote majority. That showed the superb work carried out by our PAS comrades. In this election, I feel support from the Malays for the DAP candidate will increase further.
Teoh Nie Ching was the first speaker. She is an engaging speaker who rounded up her rousing speech with a medley of songs. The lines I remembered best were
Lengang Lengang Kankung,
Marilah makan kankung,
kerana kangkung harga nya murah.

Outstation voters are feared by Mah and BN

The outstation voters are back. They want to contribute to making a change. They see the symbol of change in the DAP candidate, Dyana Daud.
These outstation voters come from all over Malaysia. If they want to come back, what does this tell you about tomorrow’s outcome? By 9pm tomorrow, Dyana Daud will become the youngest MP in Malaysian parliament.
The second speaker at the OCBC square was the MP from Seremban- Anthony LOke. A fiery speaker with a booming voice, he quickly aroused the crowd with his rapid fire and spirited rendition. Anthony loke is a superb speaker switching effortlessly between Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin. Tomorrow we are going to vote as Malaysians for a Malaysian candidate.
I was the 3rd speaker. By which time, the audience was enlarged by the attendance of Malay voters and supporters. My message was simple- that tonight we are all united in our commitment to stand up against corruption, injustice, unfair dealing, the bullying government. These universal ideals unite people of different races and creed. Let us send a tigress into parliament tomorrow.
BN admits they can’t get much of Chinese voters. They know Dyana Daud has earned respect and votes from Malay voters. Their only hope of bridging the gap is to get the Indian voters. Last night as I sat down with friends, including UMNO lawmakers- they said tonight, we are buying the Indian votes.
Perhaps they can get additional Indian votes. But seeing the responses from the crowd at various places and admission from UMNO foot soldiers, today the people of Teluk Intan choose to be with the DAP candidate.

  2. A youthful and authentic Harvard Phd holder has been crowned as the Sultan of Silver State. And Teluk Intan voters should vote in another youthful MP to replace that Gerakan recyle who has had his chance to be a Federal legislator but did nothing other than "kaw yau " to UMNO Baru.

  3. Bro,
I watched your ceramah via ubah. tv,
You really can" kick ass" You gave a to the point ceramah .
    The crowd was just amazing.
The other camp would not have sleapt ,even if they did, ithey would have had NIGHTMARES.
There were an increased presence of indians and malays.
You even had cheers for your 'arabic' quotations.
I hope and pray, Dyana WILL WIN ,Its all in the hands of the voters now but judging from the feedbacks,DYANA WILL WILL.
She had good friends from PAS to balance the scale.
Thank you Bro for the part you played in YB DYANA's journey to parliment.

  4. Dato, according to the updates,12% of voters have voted after one hour.Lines of outstation cars means higher voter turnout. Many BN supporters will vote DAP including more Malays.

Indian voters are very unpredictable as they are more prone to carrots. If they are smart they should take the carrots and vote DAP.

Overall the winning majority will be much higher than last year's.Maybe double or more.Let's keep our fingers crossed.

  5. I followed the ceramah on Ubah.TV and I also heard you speak. I always feel elated when I see Malays supporting the DAP. It is a sign that many are being freed from the backward and shackled thinking and fears of the Chinese shadows.
Malays need to 'grow'and realize that there is no way DAP will create a Chinese or Christian state and the Malays and their religion cannot disappear. They need to wake up from their dreams.
Dyana or Teluk Intan is the dawn in the Malay awakening.

  7. the distinction of being the youngest MP ever belongs to the eldest son of Tun Razak, who became an MP (for Pekan) at the age of 23?
Nonetheless, Teluk Intan, should Dyana win, will hv the youngest MP in the current Dewan Rakyat.

  8. The unofficial results are out.Mah won by a few hundred votes.Dyana is not able to withstand the onslaught of the Umno big guns and their gutter politics. In the end the bad won over the good.

Some people fell for the good old, good old and same good old oldies.Instead of taking the political landscape to another level they decided to settle for the carrots and hampers and of course the ang pows. With the extra throw ins of bikinis, tampons, diapers and kitchen sinks, you name it you got it.

Instead of fighting for a free Malaysia they readily severed all their rights and accepted to be the depressed and oppressed pendatangs and ingrates and traitors too. They finally got what they asked for. They deserved it.Serves them right for having no more rights to complain about ketuahnan Melayu for the next four years.

This by election readily accepted as the dirtiest in Malaysian history,of course I am a sore loser for backing the right horse.

  9. The result is out DAP lost the seat. LGE said maybe due to chinese cannot accept a malay candidate. Any take on the matter? Can we surmise some chinese also still would only vote base on the skin colour of the candidate or most of people in telok intan just don't want a malay to represent them?

  10. Very sad that due to the people's choice we might end up later like the pregnant woman being stoned outside the courthouse in Pakistan

  11. Did Dyana lost because it was a race based election?

Looking at the tight results and the low turnout it is safe to say:

1)the return of out-station voters was lower than the last election was a disadvantage to the DAP candidate.

2)Most of the Chinese votes went to the DAP and most of the Malay votes went to the Gerakan.Indian votes are split in between although the carrots do have an effect. This is not a race based election as the Chinese voted for a Malay candidate and the Malays voted for a Chinese candidate.

3)The singling out of the Chinese business community by Umno leaders for being ingrates did have their effects. The Chinese business community were trembling at the spines for fear of repercussions and retaliations by Umno for a BN loss. Therefore these cowards asked their lackeys and cronies to convinced some of the elderly and poor to back the BN candidate. With angpows and the promises of going to the moon,of course.

We have to give credit to the DAP for having the balls to field Dyana as their candidate. And for Dyana to hold her fortress against an onslaught of heavy artillery including scud missiles and the kitchen sink. Not forgetting the most feared gangster bikers on this earth.

For the winner,we can only ask him how do he feel after this mini tiny win.Did he feel on top of the world, like when he first lost his virginity? He had dozens of federal ministers to bat for him.Hundreds of mat rempits to intimidate the candidate and voters.Containers of carrots.Hundreds of samsengs running loose from Penang to Kuantan.

And all these crap for a mere 238 votes majority? This guy Mah sure is a joker.

Teluk Intan voters have spoken loud and clear by voting for Datuk Mah of Gerakan and crony of Umno.

They have spoken by way of their actions. They want to be intimidated, bullied, kicked around and be called ingrates by their Umno masters. They love the carrots dangled by Umno. Will they ever get to taste the sweetness of the carrots?Or will they be surpressed more and step upon.Time will tell.

Saturday May 31 st Teluk Intan voters have spoken. That they do not have the mettle or guts to take up the challenge and push forward the political agenda of the DAP/PKR.

Instead the voters of Teluk Intan took the path of least resistance and backed Umno/BN's ways of taking the country backwards. If the voters preferred a backwards government than they should not complain about third world facilities.

  14. BN can buy the Indian votes easily.
indians have no real standing in any issue. They are temperamental beings.they can easily fall for hand-outs of any kind.Never trust an indian ever. The low caste indians are the victims of all political parties promising them everything under the sun.

  15. Instead of making history by voting in the youngest MP,Teluk Intan has made history by voting in a crony of Umno.

There is no such excuses as not voting for a young and inexperience candidate.Or she is a Malay. It is the ideals that we are voting for. What is the point of voting for old Mah or Deepak the carpetman. These are cronies of the corrupted, not for change. If we want change for a better future,we got to vote in the young, untainted politicians.

Teluk Intan has set a black eye for change. It has shamed and let down all those who sacrificed going through hell in the many Bersih protests.

  16. Dato, what do you think of vote tally that does not tally. Do you think SPR is right in declaring BN as the winner when SPR could not explain the difference in total votes cast and BN + PR + spoilt votes. Should there not be a checking & recounting or even reballoting.

  17. I just cannot understand why they forsake light & embraced the darkness. Why they want to vote an old, good for nothing & useless candidate? By voting this old horse in, they jeopardized the future generation of Teluk Intan. You reap what you sow. Do not blame anyone but yourselves.

  18. This is just a battle.

The war is for the hearts and minds of young and educated Malays. Will they realise that the DAP is fighting for Social Democracy while UMNO Baru-BN is fighting to perpetuate a system of semi-apartheid and outright (multiracial) elitist kleptocracy ?

The lady lawyer vs the Umno samsengs.

In the end the lady lawyer was over powered by the Umno samsengs. What a blurdy shame to bring samsengs into elections.

Now Mr Mah owes his allegiance to his political masters Umno.Make sure you march in straight lines if you want to keep your job,Mah.

The questions we have to ask Mah.

Could he have won without the help of carrots?

Could he have won without the help of his Umno money honeys.

Could he have won without the help of the mat rempits.

Could he have won if he stood on his own two feet?

    Answer:None of the above.

  21. Dear Sakmongkol

It is time to ask some questions. Did Kit Siang know that there might be a significant number of younger outstation voters who would not return to vote, and that this could scuttle DAP’s chances? Did he know that resident Chinese voters (perhaps the older ones) might not support DAP/PR as they did in GE13 because this was a by-election that did not involve a change of government, so voting a BN candidate does not matter and may be a smarter choice because the candidate was a local boy versus a newbie? In the end Dyana lost mainly due to these two reasons.

The fact remains that the DAP has massive appeal, but a swing of 10% of the older voters and the low turnout of outstation voters were enough to turn victory into defeat. The other two issues that stand out was that the rural Malay crowd remained unmoved, only 2% more voted for Dyana. The Indian estate workers swung back by 10% to BN but for quite different reasons from the Chinese: they were enticed by the many gifts that came their way.

A by-election is always hard for the opposition to win because BN can focus intensely on just one small area bringing to bear false propaganda, lots of gifts and electoral bribes and threats. Even in Kajang, PKR won by a reduced majority. So in this sense Dyana shouldn’t be too disheartened.

As they look out to GE14 and beyond, PR must ask how they can win in the rural and semi-rural areas where different communities are attracted to very different issues with little common interests between them. Chinese, Indian and Malay voters have quite different priorities and needs. The Teluk Intan by-election provided no answers. Indeed, it highlighted a deep flaw in the electoral system. As more people migrate to cities and towns, hollowing out rural and semi-rural areas, urban seats will get more voters who are increasingly pro-PR, but conversely rural seats will get smaller, more conservative and pro-BN. If the number of seats in urban areas is not increased by the EC and remain at 222, then this can only mean that the ratio of urban voters will increase against rural voters. So we might soon have 60% voting PR and yet BN gets to rule with just 40% because the 40% translated into more seats. In other words the popular vote won’t count. What would happen then? When in a fair election the ballot box does not return the government of popular choice it could only mean trouble ahead.

  22. The final analysis by the DAP has came out.Chinese support dropped by15% and the Indians by 10%.The Malay support increased by 3%.

The DAP was deserted by the Chinese business community who preferred to be called pendatangs but not ingrates fearing severe punishments by their Umno masters. They never forgot what Umno B did to Semangat 46 supporters.

The Indians are as usual unpredictable as a voting bloc. They will forever be remembered as carrots loving eaters.Liow Tiong Lai,Chuah Jr and Palanivel owed their allegiances to them.Or else these three stooges will be swapping mosquitoes by the roadsides.

But the risks taken by the DAP did pay some dividends.Abeit by not much but 3% for a start is not that bad.PAS did work very hard for a DAP win,but the deserters overwhelmed the small Malay gains.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 3% Malay increase does not reflect Malay leaning towards DAP.It was a marginal increase to some PDM n not general trend. The core Malays will still vote BN no matter what race is put as candidate. This was the Malay mindset since 1950s.

Few Malays may be distracted to Dyana appeal; being Malay and also youthful.
