Fellow citizens! Make your own report card.

I sense an air of hopelessness and despondence among UMNO supporters and leaders. Dr Mahathir `thinks’ Najib can pull it through. Mahathir seldom thinks as he is more at home trusting his gut feelings. So when he has to think, instead of trusting his political instincts, UMNO is in trouble. He is hoping.
Others less informed but nevertheless conceited enough to show to the public their exuberance and enthusiasm for all things UMNO are now not responding and arguing about the issues we put forward. Instead they will either mutter some unsupported statements or go for the usual stock in trade UMNO ad hominem attacks.  This time, we don’t even have time to humor them so let them drown in their own sputum.
Their sense of bleakness which are reduced to mere entreaties now, remind me of some passages from TS Eliot’s poem- I first heard of these passages during one of those talks given by `comrade’ Kassim Ahmad as he was then, at the University of Malaya. That was some time ago. I Google and found those same passages;
“I said to my soul be still, and wait without hope; for hope would be hope of the wrong thing; wait without love, for love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith. But the faith, and the love, and the hope are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: so the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.”
Dr Mahathir waits without hope. The lesser UMNO beings also wait without hope. They are hoping for the wrong thing. And so they go on believing the darkness that UMNO brings is light and the rigor mortis that is embracing the dying UMNO as something in motion.
Let’s continue with Najib’s report card to the nation about his ETP and GTP. The various plans that he has in store to jump start the economy again. UMNO leaders always have this game plan- come out with big sounding terms to jump start the economy. How does having grandiose terms increase productive capacity of the nation to produce goods and services to sell to the world or to service the world to bring in additional income?
One of the core pillars of the ETP is the oil and gas industry. Then Idris Jala comes up with some statements saying we can’t rely on these extractive industries because oil and gas are depleting resources. That we already know. Yet the oil and gas industry contributes only about 20 over percent to the GDP. Manufacturing is a bigger contributor. The oil and gas industry can be exploited further.
I find this statement contradicting with the esteemed positioning of the O&G industry in the ETP scheme of things. It’s also strange given the fact that out of the 113 marginal oil fields, only two were given out to Mokhzani Mahathir’s and Sharil Shamsuddin’s companies. How about the 111 marginal fields?
Are we waiting for Omar Ong to come out with a business plan where Ethos will function as global project coordinator like it does in the FGV listing come- what-may exercise, while CIMB is perhaps busy culling up  some merger plans for some new O&G outfit to manage the 111 marginal oil fields. Maybe a new company that will be floated and more money going to the BN and UMNO piggy banks?

That is a likely scenario.
Then Najib opens up Johore Premium outlets some months ago and mouthed the usual superlatives about how this business is going to raise income for the nation. The goods sold at JPO are all imported which means money going out of the country mister PM. This is a consumption industry which does not increase the productive capacity of the economy. It’s a shopping paradise for the rich, whether local or Singaporeans. Maybe Singaporeans and others will spend money in JB- which raises incomes of sellers and some people but hardly to the level which can make a big contribution in the quest to make Malaysia the first Muslim country to reach the status of a first world.
And will Najib not be ashamed, if ever that level is reached, it is reached on the labor of non-Muslims, which Najib’s party UMNO is bullying and intimidating?
The companies busy in the Iskandar region. What are they doing? Most are building high end housing projects which will hardly add to the productive capacity of the economy. Iskandar region will end up as a rich and famous playground and home away from home.
Meanwhile JB residents and the surrounding area will have to accommodate increasing cost of living because now, they will have to compete with well-heeled foreigners snapping up the high end residences in Johore. That’s Najib ETP.
When we were school going children did we write our own report cards? We never did unless we were really naughty boys and girls who went to party, played truant, smoked cigarettes and marijuana. Then, after we didn’t do the exams well enough even to pass, fearing scolding and beltings from our parents we forged report cards and gave A’s to most of our subjects.
That’s what Najib did when he reported to the nation about his ETP and GTP. He has more to hide rather than to report by making a self-report card. Isn’t that a stupid and self-promoting exercise? He could have at least assemble a team of sycophantic academics and political activists who will pretend to discuss some serious intellectual subject in a staged forum and assess his ETP and GTP. But he didn’t because his advisers say it is best for him to give his state of the union address to lend credence to his dubious 69% rating.
All hail to the chief!  Auta on babe.

You know what they say about lies and deception. If a liar repeats the same lie over and over again, soon that liar might even believe it to be true!

    Syabas.

  5. Dato Sak,

As the saying goes "Self praise is no praise". But unfortunately PM Najib has grown too accustomed with praises ringing in from his sycophantic BN politicians/ministers and billionaire cronies that he is now under his own great illusion that he is indeed the "Father of Transformation". Sad to say, he is the "father" who transformed this country from riches to rags aided by the even increasingly corrupt UMNOputras.

It looks like the BN or more rightly UMNO only have 3 People that Counts:

    Najib
    Rosmah
    Mahathir

The rest are the "UMNO Silent Majority"

Each of the three have their own PERSONAL REASONS for speaking up..

NAJIB who wishes to remain as PM and will receive no Mercy from Rosmah if he fails.

ROSMAH who wants to continue REMAINING as the FIRST LADY of Malaysia

Mahathir who wants to prove that he was not WRONG in choosing Najib to replace Badawi whom he hated so much. He canoot be seen to be wrong AGAIN.

What about the UMNO SILENT MAJORITY?

Who Knows? They will only express themselves at the Ballot Box!!

  7. Salam Dato',

As if this guy name Najib is more towards golongan elite, golongan towkay dan segala macam kemewahan yang terang-terang dia buat di siang hari.

  12. Dato, the reason Dr Mahathir, one of the smartest, dirtiest and shrewdest politicians and PM in Malaysian history is thinking that Najib can pull it through this coming GE,is because he is not sure. And the reason that Dr Mahathir is not sure,is because he knows that the tide is against Umno/BN.

But being the politician he is,the game is never over untill the fat lady sings. So when a man of Dr M's stature turns to hope,it will only meant one thing. He is hoping against the inevitable. That is his beloved Umno B losing federal power.

But Dr M has not given up hoping completely. He knows there is one more card up Umno's sleeves. That is the phantom voters.Last estimate is another 100k of dubious voters added on the electoral rolls in Peninsular Malaysia. And how many hundreds of thousands of illegals turned legals in Sabah. This Anwar might have the answer, but he is as quiet as a tikus on this subject.

That is the reason that Bersih 3.0 is on the way.But Bersih 3.0 is a double edged sword. It might put pressure on the Umno/BN to agree for changes on some of the demands,or it might be the excuse that the ruling regime is waiting for.To set the wild dogs loose on the people and impose martial law.

  14. Pfffffffffft! That's how I feel about Najib's self assessing, self praising and self aggrandizing report card (in other words "masuk bakul angkat sendiri"). Come to think of it, Najib and UMNO is no different from the North Korean government. Both spend a lot of the people's money on propaganda, on themselves (and cronies) and very little on their people. Just like the NoKo failed rocket launch, najib's own "alphabet soup" kitchen initiative went "kablooey"! Expensive grand unveiling but an "epic fail" on results!

But then again, we must remember that UMNO has spend decades perfecting the art of looting and plundering the wealth of this nation through colossal infrastructure project awarded to their cronies and they are the best if not numero uno on that subject (wonder if UMNO will set up it's own IPTS on this subject? TDM would make a great Professor to formulate the curriculum)! So, when faced with the challenges of nursing the economic ills of this country, they cannot but use their long honed expertise of plundering and looting hoping that it will magically and miraculously heal the economy and at the same time make them "super rich"! Unfortunately for us, ordinary Malaysian, living in the real universe (as opposed to the UMNOverse), nothing magical or miraculous ever happen, not now and not in the future as long as UMNO is in control of the government and especially not when Najib is the PM and Finance minister of Malaysia! Let's face it, bank robbers can only apologize to their act of bank robbery but it is utterly hopeless to even consider that the same bunch of robber can be a good bank manager of the bank that they have just robbed! It doesn't make sense! We expect najib and UMNO to manage this country well and bring prosperity to all? With trillions of RM being sent overseas over the past decades, we Malaysian must be truly loony to still have the illusion that given the chance, Najib and UMNO may be good at governing and managing a country!

My take on it is "to hell with the report card"! Najib and especially UMNO should have been expelled from Government years ago! If we are still deliberating the report card on najib and UMNO, then we have lost half of the initiative and on that account, najib and his APCO advisor has succeeded in sowing doubt in our mind about kicking UMNO to the kerb! Now is NOT the time to think about Najib actual performance or whether his "alphabet soup" could cure the flu! NOW is the time for our own version of Arab Spring! Whilst the arabs used street demonstration and arms struggles, we will use record turnout on election day and landslide votes against UMNO and Najib. Now is not the time to pause and ponder! Now is the time to firm up our resolve and choose "ABU"! Nothing more and nothing less! It's do or die choice for us all and we should realize the fact! We are on the precipice and a little doubt and hesitation could well push us into the abyss of despair and hopelessness.

    Nick.

  15. Dato, the people who will believed what Najib and his cohoots said are the ones who always get humped time and time again from the behind.Always beliving that the next time it will be in the front. These are the people who will get sucked up to Umno,no matter whether it rains or shine.

  16. Najib gets stimulated by all sorts of hypes and is still hungry for it, he had to make his own to get satisfied. He needs a powerful stimulant so that when he gets agitated, all his people gets stimulated. UMNO is a cult, all its people live under the influence of UMNO drugs. No truth serum is good enough to combat UMNO lies and deceits because the people of UMNO is so addicted to its drugs from birth to death for many generations and Najib has lived and learned throughout his life how best it is to be an UMNO god.

Behind UMNO is a teamwork that works a 7 headed hydra. What is the meaning of any effort no matter how big by the people in cutting off just one of its head, its new head would be worse still.

That's why we must go for ABU and ABU is that hydra, not just Najib when Muhyiddin, Hishamuddin and all UMNO's heir apparents and its ruling elites is a legion of conquistadors of the Malay race.

To better this country is not by just bettering the Malays because bettering the Malays has taken half a good century to still remain 'not good enough' whilst other contemporary asian countries have made use of the same amount of time to bypass us in transforming into developed nations.

We should have had become rocket scientists, vehicle, aircraft and ship builders, ammunition and weapon manufacturers by now had UMNO has not drugged us and dragged us into this abyss of Malay Supremacy every now and then! We are lost into oblivion in search of our identity instead of our capability and that's what we would still be doing come 2020.

  18. I agree with your comment that UMNO members are generally feeling hopelessness and despondence. This is the direct result of the actions of Najib and Najib only. Najib has been living in a cocoon shell all his life with silver spoons and golden diapers. His character is such that he longs to be in the same league as other world leaders such as Obama, Merkel, Cameron, etc. Hence, he is selfishly deploying all resources in the govt at his disposal for the sole purpose of remaking his image in the image of others. But he fails to fully understand that the image of others are based on substance and character. Substance made up of policies, ideologies, intellect, passion, commitment, etc, etc to the good of the respective nations they manage. In selfishly managing his own image (and pockets), Najib has isolated the very power base or constituent base that allowed him to gently step up to power. Once on the pedestal, Najib has systematically destroyed and isolated that power base call UMNO for his own self grandiose. If Badawi was hated, then Najib is despised. Badawi had KJ and his cohorts outside the UMNO base. Najib has his Rosmah and their band of merry thieves outside UMNO base. That defines Mahahtir from these two regime, where Mahathir kept the pot within the UMNO power base. And everybody lived happily for 20 years. Najib has kept the pot at home.

Najib will fall more violently than Caesar and Hitler combine. Rosmah will be his silent killer. No need for military grade explosives for this. The power of sex has killed more powerful personalities than any war, conventional or nuclear...or more commonly known as "the bedroom is more powerful than the boardroom". UMNO will be the Brutus. It has been very unusual for UMNO members to be this silent for long periods of time. Especially where their political/financial survival is concerned. Najib's cronies will be the beneficiaries of his rule.

Najib has to self report to the nation as nobody will do it for him. Without a fee. Not that its cheaper, but he is in total control of the contents. Directed at specific audience. All his media PR to date are superfluous, redundant and utterly useless, as PM. As FM, his policies are skewed towards his pocket. And very effective as well. It doesnt matter if his self report card comes off as childish and ridiculous because it serves an agenda. His own agenda. Everybody and anything else is just collateral damage.
