Part 3- Amanah Agenda

There's a practical side as to why I usually break up my articles into several parts. One is I am writing from memory and therefore the output depends on my power of recall; if the issue at hand has decelerate I can discontinue. I am also able to include responses to comments that come in if I judge them to be of material relevance.

Many of the comments on my articles on Amanah for example said they know of Tengku Razaleigh's well-meaning intentions and all that. But they lamented that this country needs action. The action will come in the next elections is the short answer.

I think, if I may put it as such, we don't have to rush Tengku Razaleigh into doing something strategically not opportune. It will eventually be incorporated into a political agenda on a political platform. For the moment a little patience is prudent.

It's true, that the faces on the stage have long passed their political prime. But some of them are not looking for offices. Amanah isn't a political party; it is at the moment, an NGO where like-minded concerned citizens come together to find the means for articulating their concerns. Kadir Sheikh Fadzir said so himself- we on this stage sudah tak tahan lagi. We have to speak out.
So why not speak out through existing political parties if it's not BN they want to do so? My answer is they chose Amanah precisely because it's led by Tengku Razaleigh. The other non BN political parties simply do not have a figure that can serve as a singular rallying point. DAP is practical minded. PAS knows its own limitations. PKR- has other problems. But in Tengku Razaleigh, it is possible to find such a figure.

Why is UMNO quiet about it? Because they can't do anything about it. Even among UMNO members there is increasing disquiet about how things are managed. Saifuddin Abdullah's recent 'out-of-line' statements and Khairy Jamaluddin's conscientious objections are only tips of the icebergs. Tengku Razaleigh is merely pointing out the realities. He is still an UMNO member- so what can UMNO do at the moment? It can't sack a person of his stature without precipitating its own implosion. So go ahead- sack him and it will make the days of many.

Tengku Razaleigh is of course mindful of the possible repercussions of his actions. He may not be fielded as an UMNO candidate in the next elections. He may lose the support of UMNO Gua Musang. The last time I spoke to him, he was telling me of these reservations. I pointed out to him that his victory doesn't just depend on UMNO votes. It depends on the rakyat. Given the history of seeing only 60% of UMNO members voting for their own candidates and 60% of Malays voting for non UMNO candidates, I would rate his chances as being above average. The opinion of the present UMNO leadership is quite simply inconsequential.

So that is why UMNO is quiet about the whole thing.

At the moment this is what Amanah provides. A platform for speaking out against the abuses on the Merdeka heritage. The assault on fair and free elections. Because if I may continue from the last article, the means by which we achieve our end, to get a clean and fair government, is also the end itself. The clean and fair government which is the end, must be justified by clean and fair means. We want to speak out against the endemic corruption that has engulfed this country; the assault on the judiciary which has caused public distrust and haplessness, the divisiveness of the people because of opportunistic racism and all that.

The first portion of Kadir's speech was interesting. How does a government hold on to power?

Whoever wrote the American diplomatic dispatch which was made available to us through Wikileaks and Malaysia Today gave what seems to be some correct observations:-

The ruling party wants to stay in power indefinitely;
for instance- the ruling party defines national security primarily as a matter of protecting UMNO's superiority and ensuring that "people power," or a level electoral playing field, cannot become the opposition's means of toppling the ruling party.
That would explain the bludgeoning of the Bersih planned rally.
The ruling party is relying primarily on its own party structure and the embedded system of carrots and sticks to keep party membership in line. As in other one-party states, the party is seen opportunistically as a mechanism for personal advancement and enrichment.
The ruling elite maintain control over the security apparatus through party stalwarts who run the security institutions, mainly the police but also the military. We believe the military will remain loyal to legitimate leadership and is not a likely tool to overturn an elected, royally-approved and Malay-led government from either the ruling or opposition side. The police, on the other hand, follow orders from the ruling party.

That is why I find Kadir's anecdotal description of Nigeria's political experience while amusing, very instructive. He was telling the story of how the Nigerian President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan came to power.

In Nigeria, there is a rotation system whereby Christian and Muslim leaders take turns to become president. Goodluck Jonathan is a Christian and the current roster is for a Muslim to be President. Having served as deputy president for the maximum allowed period of 2 terms, he was obliged to retire. Jonathan does not have a standing to offer himself as presidential candidates when by convention, it's the other fellow's turn.

But he successfully offered himself by doing the unconventional but doing what Nigerians have always wanted. The North and the South gave him the victory. How? Jonathan did offer himself by promising to do what justifies the end of getting a clean and fair government. He does it by offering the Nigerians the only means to get the end- clean and fair means. He changed the head of the judiciary; the head of the police install a neutral and fair minded elections commission and so forth. These fair and clean means to achieving a desired end, in the end rallied the people behind him.

Malaysians have a choice really- to adopt the method by which Goodluck Ebele Jonathan retains power or the way, the American diplomat observed above.

That is the typical way by which totalitarian governments keep their power. Everything is defined in terms of primarily their interests. Hence Bersih's march for fair and clean elections is taken as a challenge to Malay security, an assault on Islam and Malay rulers etc. hence a threat to UMNO's security is taken as a threat to the country.

The Amanah platform now serves primarily as a clarion call for people to set aside their partisan politics and see what the country has become into. The beneficiaries of an independent country are now witnessing the blatant abuse of what has been bequeathed to them by our founding fathers.

While it serves as a clarion call or sounding board, the cudgels will be picked up by others hopefully. True, Tengku Razaleigh hasn't got the organizational structures at the moment, but only because it's only just launched and its not a political organization. But more important, I think, by launching this Amanah, Tengku Razaligh Hamzah is signaling his is ready and willing to offer leadership.

  2. Another great post by Sak.

But time is the essence for TRH and Amanah so they must escalate quickly their programs if the intent is to coalesce the force of conscience to ensure the forthcoming general elections are clean and fair so that the right and proper people will be elected to serve the rakyat and country. No point getting ready when the show is over. The country cannot take another five years of crap.

Now, while it is moot whether GE13 will be held soon or not, Muhyiddin has already asked for Team Barisan to get ready. But on second look at the present situation, that would be suicidal for Barisan. Perhaps it is to flesh out field intelligence on Pakatan to see where their preparatory weaknesses reside.

Whatever it is, Pakatan must be ready at all times. The rakyat of Malaysia need a good fight in GE13 to clean up the mess, remove all culprits, stop the devastation of the treasury and household incomes, vote in clean and fair leaders, and ensure the future is brighter and less dangerous for the young.

Felda farmers and others in the heartland who use their hands for a living should now use their heads for a change to see the analogy.

When opening a new plot, clear the ground first, remove the weeds, stop their growth, till the soil, add the right fertilizer, then plant good seedlings to nurture them strongly for the future of the family.

It's all honest labour - hard work once today to reap good and sweet fruits tomorrow.

That's how you can get the very rare 'green thorns' type of durians, for instance. Once you've tasted just one seed of it, you will thump your nose at kunyit, 101 and all the other pretenders to the greatest fruit on earth. But only if it is 'green thorns'.

So, where was i? If TRH can see all this as our prince, so too can Raja Nazrin, one of our other equally vocal princes.

Our royalty can and must also do the right thing from this moment onwards for all the rakyat of this country.

Our royalty and rakyat derive wisdom and moderation from each other. For once, do the right thing, your Majesties. Anoint good practices to save our nation.

Looking at how Umno and the others in Barisan have french-connection united kingdomed the rakyat and our country, let's cut the chase and come to a final conclusion.

The best deal for all the rakyat and this country in the next General Elections is for Umno et al to become the new opposition.

That way the rakyat will be assured of two things:

    1. immediately stop the present Umno elites from lying, bullying, dividing and cheating the rakyat in order to squander and plunder the economy, one which affects all Umno general members inasmuch the others; and

    2. create a viable opposition through Umno to make sure Pakatan does not do the things Umno has been guilty of doing year after year.

In a nutshell, finish off the cause of the problems, and insure from it happening again.

That's win-win for the rakyat and country. And win-win for those miscreants in Umno as well..they get one last chance to redeem themselves, stop their folly and save their souls (insurance fineprint: 'if they have one in the first place')

Just as Barisan lost the urban vote in the recent Sarawak elections, Barisan will lose the urban vote in the whole country in the next GE.

What Pakatan needs to do now is to carry the message that Umno has been cheating the rakyat right into the heartland. Particularly the farmers who because their median age is over 50 years are less likely to change their mindset easily. But change they must because their vote will be their last contribution as parents in this life for the future of their young who are struggling in the cities, eking miserable living and facing hardship while the pillow-mate of someone who is now facing the wrath of Khan had chosen to pompously stay like Marcos reloaded in a sumptuous hotel in Dubai at the heart-breaking rate of RM140,000/- per night (seratus empat puluh ribu ringgit, semalam) whose bill is for His Majesty's Treasury, collector of tax money paid through the sweat and tears of rakyat, like you. That amount of money could have done immediate wonders for a few charity homes for the poor and needy, and it wasn't just one night.

And the eurofighter contract is for 10 planes at RM30 Billion. It's like the other contract given out by Petronas to rent (not buy) 14 helicopters from two private companies for ten years at the sum of RM7.4 Billion.

Next month Umno will nail Anwar Ibrahim at one of the mahathir- established marsupial courts. That is one of the deflection items in Umno's menu leading to GE13.

But just as 50,000 Bersih rally walkers had suddenly appeared out of providential thin air despite heavy cordoning of the city by Umno's marchai's, that item will only serve to raise the rancour and temperature of the rakyat in much the same way the black eye had stirred so much anger before.

The rakyat want clean and fair elections so that institutions like our courts and forces like our PDRM and military will not be run into the ground to serve the power-crazed demands of the day of just some deluded people who think they can simply do what they like, having first cheated themselves to believe ends justify means when it is only ends for themselves using means that are, if integrity is truly practiced, intended solely for rakyat and nation, innocents in the entire idiotic drama of Umno politics.

Otherwise how do you explain a body like the PDRM using the word 'illegal' to try and stop a movement that is trying to make our election system legal so that everyone, including the PDRM chiefs, can be assured that if they take orders, those orders come from true representatives of the rakyat, not people who had inserted pre-crossed voting slips into opaque boxes?

In times of peril to the economic and moral health of the Motherland, all citizens of goodwill should put aside their partisan political differences and rise to its defense.

    The time is now!

Thanks to Tengku Razaleigh and the other supporters of Amanah for coming to the defense of the Motherland by speaking up.

Yes, all Malaysian I think wants Ku Li to ante up! Now he has launch AMANAH so the next logical step is to explain or plainly tell us HOW he intend to use it! Stand up and tell us that HE is willing and able to take the leadership that will unite all the fractured and disorganized opposition voice out there (including those from the opposition parties)!

AMANAH being merely an NGO and with no power nor influence over government policies wants to hear the grievances from all Malaysian. FINE! Then what does he intend to to about those grievances? Take it up with the government? BERSIH did that and look what happen! BERSIH at the end has to resort to massive rally and demonstration (that too didn't change the government way of thinking and it merely made the government more harsh and more deceitful in trying to retain its power and influence).

So what's next? Register a new alliance or political party or a rakyat cooperative and start a business? Tell US something on what he intends to do and then ask us for the support. Just merely saying AMANAH is here to ask Malaysian to stand up and say no to UMNO and BN, just won't cut it! We the rakyat are already saying "enough is enough" in the past GE but our effort was thwarted by the slimy SPR and immoral pliant government machinery. And Ku Li was a part of that tragedy as well (we all still remember that too).

Malaysian HAVE been patience and to the extent that we are still hopeful that a change of government is still to be done through GE NOT by massive citizen uprising like the "ARAB Spring". So, we have been patience since last GE and now, the ball is in Ku Li's court. Lets see if Ku Li is going to offer himself as the champion of the people or will he AGAIN play the safe game of "Let's us all wait and see". If there is a will then there is a way. SO since he has the will (by launching AMANAH) then start showing us the way. YOUR WAY!

    Nick.

    Salam and god bless.

  7. Tok,

    1. Satu huraian yang persuasive dan amat dihargai. The fact remains that apa yang HENDAK DIBUAT( BELUM PUN MULA BUAT) adalah apa yang dirancang oleh AMANAH telah dibuat oleh komponen Pakatan Rakyat menjelang PRU 12 sehingga kini.

    2. Mempunyai keinginan aka nafsu nak bawa perubahan yang terlebih dahulu diperjuangkan oleh kumpulan lain sahaja tak cukup Dato. Plan cantik sahaja tak cukup dato kalau tidak sanggup menghadapi tekanan yang semakin ganas dan gila mutahir ini. kena tekan sikit, kena ugut sikit dah kecut perut, terus jadi gagap dan lari lintang pukang.

Ambil contoh kadiaq Sheikh fadzir.

    3. The onus to prove otherwise terletak dikaki Kuli dan pimpinan-pimpinan AMANAH untuk membuktikan cakap serupa bikin. memimpin dibarisan depan, bukan atas pentas dan dibelakang barisan.

    4. 24 tahun parti yang saya anggotai dibunuh. 24 tahun saya terus berjuang termasuk menyokong Semaangat 46 dulu. Apa jadi?

    5. saya tetap menyambut baik "angan-angan" AMANAH tetapi saya juga mahu lihat action, bukan ucapan, memorandum demi memorendum, lepas tu balik modal asal - cakap banyak tapi no meaningful action.

  8. Dear Dato Ariff. If UMNO does not want to change, as confirmed by their attack on Dr Asri who is just doing his job to explain to us Muslims what is bidaah ( amalan ibadat yang Nabi larang ,tak suruh dan tak buat ) and what is not (but just because Asri supports what is requested by Bersih, then Asri must be walloped), then UMNO must be taught a lesson in the next election. UMNO's 'fixed deposit' is in the rural areas , especially in Sabah and Sarawak. Forget about Sabah and Sarawak because it is almost impossible to shift the mental paradigm of the rural people there. Focus on the rural areas in Peninsular Malaysia , especially in Pahang, Melaka, Negri Sembilan , Johor and parts of Perak and Selangor. Meet rural people directly and in small groups. Talk to them. Give them the facts. Argue with them. These are simple folks who only bother about bread and butter issues. Isues of transparency, corruption. cronyism, unclean election and so forth are abstract and foreign to them unless you can package them in a way they can understand. Do not be disheartened. Rural folks in Kelantan are very shrewd and they know how to play the game. Bagi kain pelekat ambo ambek. Buat jalan ambo pake. Bagi pitih pun ambo ambek. Tapi bagi undi itu ambo punya suko lah. So in conclusion , the main thrust of the effort to unseat the power of recalcitrant UMNO leaders is to come up with a plan of action targetting the rural areas I mention above where the mindset of the people there is still Malay is UMNO and UMNO is Malay.

  9. Sorry for being rude. Amanah will just fade away without any major impact. The line up of Amanah are all yester years "leaders" where their integrity were highly questionable. U can expect to reverse to a forgone era. Ku Li is a past tense in Malaysia politics because quantity prevails even though quality does make an important factor that decide the outcome.

  10. Dear Sakmongkol

Let me cut to the chase. What Tengku Razaleigh seeks through AMANAH is also what every Malaysian wants: a return to the heritage that our founding fathers bequeathed us – a free and fair country with opportunities for all, and a tolerant multicultural and multi-religious country.

What many of your readers disagree with is the approach of AMANAH, not its aims. We do not need to be told anymore about the injustices that this BN government has done to us. We do not need to be told anymore about this corrupt government that rules for the benefit of its cronies. We do not need to be told anymore about how they are destroying the legacy of Merdeka. We know all this.

Remember, we are talking about changing the government. This new government must be able to rule competently from Day 1. There is no L-licence period of trial and error. So realistically, we need the AMANAH people to work with the PR people in whatever feasible political way – coalition or merger. But please work together. The elections are less than 1 year away. Words and ideas must be turned into plans and ACTION quickly. If we miss this chance we will be lamenting the missed opportunity for another 5 years on your blog. You asked us to be patient. How patient can we be when the fire is burning down the house?

The question on everyone’s mind is, who would be the PM candidate should Pakatan Rakyat win? Realistically, he cannot come from DAP. A candidate from PAS might also be unacceptable, not until non-Muslims can see how PAS behaves in federal government. Keadilan has no credible candidate, not even Anwar. So there is a vacancy and a need for an acceptable candidate from outside PR. And that person, in my judgment, is Tengku Razaleigh. But he is hesitant, wanting to do something but draws back at the edge for fear of failure. Semangat 46 must still be playing in his mind. But at 70, in his twilight years, what more is there to lose? Take the plunge – be PM or go down in a blaze of flames. Either way, people would remember him more fondly than as a nice sounding prince who meant well but did nothing.

    salam Dato'

  12. Amanah apparently is led by an influential UMNO politician while its top echeleon leaders are also ex UMNO MPs, Ministers etc. They want to provide independent voices within UMNO in the hope that UMNO will change for the better.

Apparently, the commentators in this blog have different ideas. They want Amanah to bring down the UMNO led government. Funny isn't it.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sorry Dato,

Still don't buy the idea. The whole Amanah set up and the people leading it lacks credibility.

So, how can they establish credibility?

    1. Razaleigh must stand up and openly state his views on the UMNO leadership and the way things are going on in UMNO. He must do it as a member of UMNO and risk his position as an UMNO member and member of parliament. He cannot have the cake and eat it.

IF he dare not take this risk, people will continue to see him as a Kelantan prince and gentleman who is all talk and no action.

    2. If UMNO doesn't heed his advice, he must resign from UMNO and stand on his own. If he can do this, he will demonstrate he is a man of principle.

With his stature, he doesn't have to be afraid of not having the people coming out to support him.

    3. Others in Amanah who still have political membership with Barisan Nasional must do the same, i.e. (1) and (2) above.

If these people dare to do the above and risk everything they have built on the political front, they are taking the 1st step towards establishing credibility with the rakyat ... note, I say take the FIRST step.

We all saw what happened to Zaid Ibrahim who started on a high note and shot himself in the foot. We, the rakyat, are tired of clowns like him.

We want people who have the courage and conviction to lead the country because they love Malaysia, not because they love the power and wealth that comes with the position.

  14. Thanks bro for the rather explicit hint that Amanah will eventually evolve into a political party.
But the time is NOW. Get into swing NOW. Register Amanah as a political entity immediately. No dilly-dallying lor.
No point touting Amanah as NGO. It's not effective. Just another NGO. No go, my man.
I am afraid Ku Li and his Amanah will miss the boat since our DPM has already hinted that the GE is very near.
It's good you and side-kick Aspan is kicking the ball now. Make us understand about Amanah especially the rural folks.
Ku Li and you guys must go to the ground now. Of course you know the MSM will not give a line or a sound-bite to this new outfit.
Have you laid the ground-work on the candidates to challenge the BN people?
Of paramount importance. do you have the right calibre of people to face the might of the BN?
Aside from the political has-beens who do you have in the line-up? Get fresh faces from young professionals and other respected professions.
We the people want to know.
BN especially is keeping quiet, waiting for ammo from the Amanah top-guns.
I don't think they are jittery. The nervous one is of course Anu-war fella.
Amanah can be the party to soud the death-knell of Keadilan. Can be a cohesive union if PAS is in too.
Should be no problem because Kelate always support Kelate expecially if it's their beloved prince.
Leave alone the civil servant, police, judiciary etc. They are the government officers who will do your bidding if you come to power.
So go easy on them. They will stay irrespective of who or which party is the government of the day.
My dear bro, godspeed in your new endeavor. Hope you will be justly rewarded. Insya-allah.
Time for you to go the whole hog and declare yourself free of UMNO.
Resign now, my brave one, opportune time or not.
Your fans have been pestering you since you are their anti-UMNO spokesman.
Your pals in UMNO too are awaiting your resignation. Your constant criticism of the party do not sit well with them.

  19. Dear Sakmongkol

Orang Lama @11.35 made a sound analysis of the voting reality. The key for victory lies in the Malay heartland that UMNO now controls, not that in Sabah and Sarawak. This is where Amanah can play a crucial role if sufficient credible Umno members quit and campaign there. In these areas, PR Malay candidates won’t be as effective because of the long entrenched presence of Umno.

If Amanah candidates can win some seats there then Umno can no longer claim that they are the party of the Malays because the Peninsular Malays would have overwhelmingly voted for the opposition. As for the urban seats all over Malaysia, you can trust that the opposition will do a very good job. Now, the rural seats in Sabah and Sarawak will not go opposition on the day of the election, but their leaders are pragmatic. If they see that the Peninsular Malays have swung to the opposition they will switch camp. And a new dawn will greet Malaysians the day after the elections.

Before it was rumoured to be held in the second or third quarter. Now common sense will tell us that the GE will be held in 2012 or later. So at least it will give TR some time to plan his strtegy or political future.

What really amazed many people are the removal of certain subsidies so closed to the rumoured date of the GE.Even a third class political intern will tell his or her boss that it is political suicide to remove subsidies before an election. Why not wait until after the elections.

If the Umno GOM is so desperate that they are going to risk political suicide because of removing the subsidies, then something is sure very wrong. That will mean only one thing. That eventually the GOM will have to issue checks with rubber soles.

Najib is in political hot soup.It could be anything from the scorpene submarine/Altantuya scandal to his enemies in Umno. One thing is for sure.Something serious is brewing up in Umno.Najib would not dare cancelled his lond planned vacation with Rosmah in a second's notice and endure her wrath unless his job is in jeopardy.

Whatever is the case Umno is now at its weakest. It is much more weaker than in 2008 because of the infighting. If Umno can be brought down to its knees it has to be in this coming GE.Bersih has shown us that it can be done.

The opposition needs someone of TR's stature to send Umno into pasture.Anwar is definitely not that person.Let us all hope that TR makes the right decision this time.

What if this time around your beloved Umno is sent packing. Will you be among the Umnoputras boarding the late night chartered planes heading South for Zimbabwe.
Last I heard there are six stars resorts in Zimbabwe.

Ku Li has done all the right talk but alas, has yet to do the right walk. I am definitely not holding my breath.

Najib has blinked. He cut short his holiday and on arriving in KL, straight 'turun padang'.

Opps... or could all these (AMANAH included) be the biggest staged 'sandiwara' by BN ??

  30. Salam,

Fresh from the 'Selepas 9 Julai' forum, I think the best thing that AMANAH could do is to be an affiliate of BERSIH since currently that is what BERSIH lacks, participation from a pro-BN NGO. Hopefully, this would be the vessel to carry the voices of UMNO/BN members who share BERSIH's concerns.

  31. Dato Sak,
By now I think you have pretty much good idea the sentiment towards formation of AMANAH from your commentators.

AMANAH battle cry like fighting cronyism, seeking clean and fair government, rooting out corruptions so on and so forth all are good intentions. These are political mission statement in canvassing people to vote for them. It will be suicidal and stupid not to.

Many people in Malaysia already have perceptions the system of government that built over the years have been abused and now broken. It has been done by the same people who called for good government before they were elected into office and in many cases after they leave political office from the present regime.

Chances are if new and fresh faces put into office also, over the years they will get “sucked” into the system because of political survival and to continue enjoying the benefits benefitting their status. That is human nature added by gaping holes in the systems.

That leaves ordinary folk like me wondering, if AMANAH office bearers won the people’s support and put into office, are they willing to stake their political career to make radical changes in system of government for the sake of state and country and for future generations to enjoy? That means working collectively in bipartisan politics for the people, removing the “cloud” that gives them political protections and surrendering to wishes of the people when the government of the day is no longer enjoy majority of people support. If so then AMANAH will gain credebility.

Nevertheless I wish you best of luck with formation of AMANAH. May this coming Ramadhan month, we can have peace and tranquillity to ponder and to reflect. To correct our past mistakes and to increase our deeds.

Still committed to UMNO. Will see first whether there are viable candidates in Amanah before I consider voting them.
Can I amanahkan my trust to Amanah? I am not sure yet, so far. Not convinced enough.
This will be the third time I am voting. My vote is always for the common good.

  35. Dato, now Umno GOM is really getting it's bang for the buck from Apco. The TBH RCI's decision was more or less expected to be in favor of the Umno GOM.But the forced suicide decision was a shock, even to the very wily dealers of Umno. This is a very well thought of plan. And it seems to be working.

It has surely caught everyone by surprised, especially the opposition leaders. Now they are all beating around the bush about the RCI decision. It has really caused a great distraction away from their main purpose.

That is continuing to put pressure on Umnoputras on the recent blunderings of the shoot themselves in the foot incidents. If they keep concentrating on the TBH RCI decision, the advantage of the Bersih rally will slowly creep away.It is time the opposition used their heads instead of following Umnoputras who only knows how to use their heels.

  37. Dato, the recent announcement of the TBH RCI findings sure amazed and shocked many people. It was to be expected that the findings will be favourable to the GOM.But the decided results of forced suicide sure surprised even the most crooked wily dealers of Umno.Forced suicides can only happened in pariah nations, like Zimbabwe. How come it is happening in Malaysia.

I think that this time the Umnoputras sure got their bang for the buck from Apco. This was a well thought of plan.It has got the public and the opposition real hopping mad.Now the opposition is concentrating all their cruise missiles on this TBH RCI results.

This heavy concentration on the TBH tragedy has caused the opposition to lose what has been their first piority. That is continuing to put pressure on Umnoputras for the recent blundering mistakes they have made.Even the recent Bersih added points will slowly creep away.

This timely announcement was planned to distract the opposition away from Umno's problem, thus giving them enough space and time to consolidate their manpower and strength. The opposition is falling for the trap setup for them by Umno's fishermen. It is time that the opposition started using their heads and not follow the Umnoputras in using their heels to think.

  40. Sir,

TRI is just like somebody having all the foreplay and actions but could not come. If going by his past, the future of Amanah will not differ from Semangat 46. TRI just do not have that killer instinct. My heart wants him to be an alternative PM but my mind says no way.

The Tunisians and Egyptians did not wait for the opposition. The young people did it on their own accord. Similarly in Malaysia, the younger generation will rise up to the challenges needed to create a better future. It is only a question of when. I was at BERSIH 2.0 and I saw the future. It is going to be bright and good. Unstoppable. Slowly but surely.

The present generation in the 50s and 60s is the one that screwed up this nation and I don't expect them to have the courage for change except for a minority few. They had a good life due to the sacrifices of our parents and but they did not leave a better country for our children. This spoiled generation are still walking along the corridors of power. Their hobby is lie, cheat and steal.

Young people of Malaysia, please spread the message to your parents, uncles and aunties that we must have courage to change and make a 2-party system a reality. We need to have an option other than BN. Yes, the change must involve those from the kampungs.

  43. We need not just Bersih for all Malaysian but more pressingly we need another Bersih in UMNO elections itself.Perpetuating the old guards and their nominees to lord over the 3.5 million ordinary members by way of unclean election system is real despicable and clear mungkar.Amanah must first address this issue otherwise it is just a wishful thinking.Right now UMNO is controlled by a Mafia gang with absolute immunity to do anything and we the ordinary members are their cannon fodders.A voice from anti-Mafia ordinary member.

  44. salam 1 Malaysia to all

On a lighter side, allow me to bring the

state of democratic process to this forum.

Good Luck Jonathan had done a good job in

    national governance for his country.

Ying Luck Shinawatra had almost succeeded in

securing the leadership in Thailand subject to

    overcoming a few last hurdles.

Then najib-no-luck has to appease a few

hindu priests at batu cave, the catholic pontiff

and soon expected to meet some monks

in chinese temples to get all the good luck yellow papers

for him to succeed in the not lucky no GE 13

Only if he can get annointed with a good luck from

some lucky temple or kuail [see m2day-najib met hindu

    priest]

can he ever hope to succeed in a no-hope

GE 13 for the gerombolan bn.

Bad advise from consultants had made

the bn a few enemies among moslems

in the use us bloggers to insult

    mohammad-the -prophet of islam.

so no good luck from the melayus from within

    umno or without.

So finally a self-belief in rebranding

a new najib-good-luck in the form of najib -yang -ada -luck

[compare shinawatra -ada- ying -luck ] might be a ticket for

najib success in ge 13 as a last resort

Umno has already let you down, has already let all of us down, unbearably so, and it's very sad you are still inclined to root for this 'beast'. For the sake of the common weal, there's always a right time to leave and take the right path. You have already woken up, just that you are still in quite despair over what to do.

  47. Joke of the day

Mahathir, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell.

While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for. The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.

Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a check.

Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes. When she is finished the devil informs her that the cost is 6 million dollars, so she writes him a check.

Finally Mahathir gets his turn and talks for 4 hours. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is $5.00.

When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Mahathir got to call Malaysia so cheaply.

The devil smiles and replies: "Since Najib took over, the country has gone to hell, so it's a local call."

    Have a good day.

  51. Ku Li has been at the game donkey years and perhaps we can't be any ruder to him than what he has gone through.

    So let's be blunt.

All I want to say is this - get the f### out of UMNO.

Let UMNO die without changing for there is birth in death. Set the UMNO members free to be their own human being. For the good in you will not perish but will be cherished on change and 'rebirth'. The maxim is evolution. The pain is revolution and rewarding gain is self restitution... that is no indignation at the right of the human citizen. Even the 'dog' will respected for his right... to justice.

Get the f### out of UMNO!
