The Ariff and Aspan Blog

Today, I am pleased to announce the launching of a new blog site. It's called The Ariff and Aspan Blog. Readers can access it here.

This website is a collaborative effort between En Aspan Alias and I, Ariff Sabri. Aspan manages his own blog at Aspan Alias.
I write through my own blog sakmongkol.blogspot.com.
We hope to engage Malaysians and offer them debates and opinions on the state of politics in Malaysia. We welcome participation from our readers and promise we will not have difficulty in respecting a well-reasoned counter argument. We urge commentators not to resort to personal attacks and vilifications. We tolerate no name callings and will not entertain them.

  1. dear dato' & aspan

as a keen follower to your blog and sdr aspan's, allow me to congratulate you both.

i have long held the view that the two of you share common traits, the biggest of which is the sheer number of 'followers' who fail to see the real viewpoints of almost every proposition. as i have numerous times mentioned in my commentary to sdr aspan's postings, the pre-1987 UMNO thinkers are facing extinction, and the country has now been swarmed by the newer breed who have sadly missed the situations n spirit of the olden days to compare with (high on this extinction endangered yet unprotected species is TR himself).

i hope to see this new blog not as a breeding of those who, wanting of intellect, and missing the point way off the mark, have only expletives as means of expression of their version of intellectuality.

the provisos and ground rules u set are timely indeed.

i wish the best wishes for the two of you.

  2. Congrats bros Ar and As. What an apt pair. Senada dan seirama. A marriage made in heaven.
Heehee we can see lots more pro-Anu-war fans now that bro Aspan is in a joint venture with you!
Come on UMNO supporters, do come in and join them and not leave me to some of the "sharks' among Aspan's friends.
Have no problem with Bro Ariff. Never did he delete my comments.
He is very sure of himself and even allows people to vent their personal attacks on him.
Like Rocky, Sak publish it and he can counter-attack. That's the way to go.
Bro Aspan lately have printed my comments. In fact I can say with my entrant, the blog is lively with people attacking me.
Some months back, Aspan deleted several of my comments, making me shunning his blog until last week.
Some of my pals too had their comments deleted. We think he is one foot in PKR. See all the personal mockings of UMNO getting a lot of space there.
Anyhoo, respect you guys being 'senior citizens' with a social conscience.

  3. Well done Dato'
It is now or never that Malaysians must wake up and the Malays must make our stand clear either the Malays and the nation survive or "kita akan pupus" time will tell.
All politicians need to be told off especially the current batch of leaders in power. National interest is paramount and not trying to cling to power thinking that the people are dumb. And so the rakyat must wake up too!
Wishing both of you good luck and good health.
Ask jibby where is he taking the nation to? Masuk longkang ke masuk jerat pembangkang? atau dia sendiri akan lingkup kelak dan membawa Malaysia sama terlungkup!

  10. Dear Dato,Congratulations to you and Aspan Alias on your new blog.Hope your new blog will be more interesting.Once in a while I used to visit Aspan's blog but it is usually written in Malay.Being out of the country for such a long time my Malay is a bit rusty,so I usually read only those written in English. So again all the best to Dato and Aspan.

  11. Tahniah dato Sak dan Pak Aspan
I thoroughly enjoyed both blogs. They are refreshing and provided me a glimpse of "otai" thinking. I myself am pre-otai and as such can see both of you venting your frustations (and anger?) as old age and irrelevance took over. Perhaps the new blog will be more of a dialogue with complementing views. Gone are the days of one idealism reign supreme, horses for courses I say. Tahniah !

  12. Dear Sakmongkol

I suppose it is always a good idea to try new things and new ways of doing things. But when we do this we must have a sound reason for it.

I have visited the new Ariff and Aspan Blog, but I have never before visited Aspan’s Blog. To be honest I have not heard of him before. A further admission: I only read one blog, and that is Sakmongkol AK47.

If Aspan writes mainly in Malay, and you in English, who are you both trying to reach that you did not reach individually writing separate blogs? Those whose primary working language is English would read your blog, and those who prefer to read in Malay would read Aspan’s. I assume (not having read Aspan in English) that he shares your political beliefs and aspirations, and writes to further them. So essentially both your aims and styles are similar.

In now writing in a relay style – you one day in English, and Aspan the next day in Malay – how would this be different from before? Are you both offering something new in substance, or merely trying to draw both sets of readers to one blog site? Or perhaps starting a small 2-man dissident blog that has the potential to grow into something much more substantial than a blog?

  14. Salam Hormat to both of you

Now I will be having 3 blogs to enjoy reading and making comments. Congrats and best wishes for the partnership.

Both of you have been expressing the thoughts and concerns of some Malays who want expressed what many are lamenting UMNO and Malaysia are/will becoming.

May more Malaysians will also be visiting the 3 blogs. More importantly the UMNO powers that be who must be getting to them that transformation and new leadership are never ever more critically needed.

no, i dnt plan to shut down sakmongkol. both aspan n i will maintain our independence. we dont predeteermine what topics to write. each of us write on topics from the heart. and we dnt constraint ourselves with each other's subjectivities.
pls contiue to enoy our individualism and our new corroborative enterprise.

  18. Dear Dato Sak

It is good to have moderate Malay nationalists who run influential blogs like you.

It is such a turn off to read about the steady stream of fascistic rantings issuing forth from the mouth of the would-be Malaysian Benito Mussolini from Kelantan.
I'm not sure if this man is a dangerous fool or a totally unprincipled opportunist. Most likely a combination of both. A real threat to the health of multiethnic Malaysia.

  19. Yes, maintain this blog.

The thrust and force of your ideas, criticism, views, opinions and independence will be diluted if a blog is shared.
