Not since I wrote articles supporting KJ when he was contesting the Ketua Pemuda post have I garnered so many comments. The articles I wrote about Anwar have touched raw nerves and the responses have been coming back with such intensity and ferocity.
But I have done this for a purpose. This will become clear shortly.
UMNO has better sit up and think of better strategies to counter Anwar Ibrahim. If UMNO's weapons of mass support destruction are to hurl abusive language, personal insults, distasteful characterization of Anwar, it will find the going tough. It will also find, that the widespread belief that PR's ( PAS, PKR and DAP) confidence that they will take Putrajaya is not without foundation.
The amber lights for UMNO are flashing. Kalau tak sedar, semua kita mampus. Does the BN government want self perpetuation or self renewal?
That will be the end of the UMNO and BN make believe world, that the destiny of this nation depends on their staying on in power. The people will have none of that without receiving much more than mere sloganeering and liberation from continuing awareness suppression.
I pity UMNO if it thinks it weakens the Anwar juggernaut by accusing Anwar as this agent, that agent etc. what the UMNO propaganda machinery does is to treat the public as stupid people and imbeciles. Wrong strategy as it will only make the public clamor for UMNO blood.
After engaging Anwar supporters over the last few days and listening to his recent speeches, I can only conclude that UMNO is facing a very tough time. Stupidly, this shocking reality is shielded from the public only by the pom pom media glitz by the ruling party- by the mass media complex comprising the papers , visual and audio instruments. The reality is, there is widespread simmering anguish and rejection of the ruling government, conveniently concealed from an ever increasingly questioning and cynical public.
The inconvenient truth that UMNO/BN does not want to hear is- the public is willing to excuse Anwar for whatever he has or has not done and is even ready to vilify the BN government for what it has or has not done. If today, Anwar says yes he sodomises Saiful, the public is likely to not care less. Even if the government proves beyond reasonable doubt that Anwar did what he is charged with, the public will not credit the government with anything.
What's frightening is Anwar is believable while UMNO/BN isn't. Either way, the government loses.
Whether Anwar goes to prison or not, UMNO and BN will face a bleak future. Anwar not in prison means, frontal attacks exposing years of bad governance, abuse of power, economic injustice, social injustices, economic mismanagement will be amplified by Anwar's demagoguery. Anwar in prison on the other hand means waves of sympathy that will translate into rejection of BN politics.
At the end of the day, The BN government has to attack only one idea that the Anwar machine is telling the people- A Better Malaysia without the BN. A simple idea that's gaining a lot of adherence. I can't described what has Anwar done, better that the comments posed by one anonymous in my last posting.
The awakening of Malaysians is partly catalyzed by the treatment that DSAI received. His trial, incarceration, and subsequent event - rightly or wrongly - for there's only one truth, but many perceptions awakened Malaysian mind. Yes - there's other factors too - the new media, other personalities that's too many to mention.
The bigger picture is the march for change - Malaysians from all ages who are sick of the current state of the nation. Malaysians who does not like the way things are now. Malaysians who are concerned about the state that they will let their children inherit.
To answer this commentator, this is why I brought out the discussion on Anwar. That is the purpose.
What can UMNO do? I shall now return to my usual hunting ground.
Sak, U nakal tapi bijak. Well done. Smart way of extracting the truth.
ReplyDeleteSalam Sakmongkol Ak47,
habib rak,
ReplyDeletenot the truth, just to know what we are up against. we must know our enemy habib.
Dato' Sak,
ReplyDeleteWe are looking beyond Anwar Ibrahim. It is not that the Rakyat love Anwar more but they hate UMNO/BN more for what they have done to the country. Hopefully once UMNO/BN is felled, a new UMNO with a new set of leaders will rise to lead the nation again to bring this nation to prosperity with a clean judiciary, IGP, AG, MACC and a somewhat impartial mainstream media. Is that too much to ask for the benefit of our future generation?
Pak Tua.
great work, sak
ReplyDeleteYap, to know the enemy and let the enemy know us, the game of rivalry will then become more interesting and fair!
ReplyDeleteBut does Umno already let their rivals know enough their foul tactics? After the Perak fiasco, horse trading with the PR frogs, Sodomy II and what others in the store?!
Be spotting a bit, dun keep it hush-hush! Rakyat dun like....
Rakyat also dun like those flip-flop and too much shilly-shally cakap tak serupa pikin punya hypocrites to dance in the public and fool us like the audience in the circus who would laugh but would not take the clowns as too serious, knowing they are only clowns juggling with their usual clownish tricks!
The trouble with Umno is, until todate, they still dun know what's in popular demand in the market only good at playing their kris of shortie and keep repeating it as a royal rite to subserve gullible stooges for royalty!
Decent rakyat would simply buy such cheap antics as entertainment!
They need APCO as their political runner and Bill Gate as their Marketing Adviser!
Dear Dato, you put it very aptly - simmering anguish, these choice words best describe the state of of the Malaysian minds. And by extrapolation, anguish turns to torment, anger, rejection and finally total repudiation of the government of the day.
ReplyDeleteSimilarly, in the book by Alan Paton, his title amplifies all:
Cry, the Beloved Country.
If you have not read this, do immediately.
Whether you awakened the dragon from its sleep, opened Pandora's box, in a deliberate fashion or as a side effect, the ferocious and partisan responses mirror the minds of many ( your earlier articles were just too hasty to be be considered seriously), well now you have settled down again. Let the debates resume.

anon 09:48.
ReplyDeletethat maybe be the chance for UMNO to still wake up. because if these articles were hasty, looking at the ferocious comments, they couldn't originate from becalmed minds.
we are not worried of these.
UMNO has yet learn the maxim that "Profusion suffocates".
ReplyDeleteAnwar bashing has gone overboard and in fact insults the people intelligence to distinguish between truth and spin.
UMNO has completely lost all its credibility that NOBODY will trust it - be it on Anwar, Pakatan failures, or even the 1Malaysia, NEM,10th Malaysia Plan and the rational for subsidy cuts.
Nay, the people are even skeptical about economic figures dished out by the PM and even Bank Negara.
i have been following your blog for sometime now and wow you are good! man.
ReplyDeletein fact very good.your views and comments merits deep thought by the party in power today. the current scenario is somewhat similar to the 94 where s46 and pas swept all seats in kelantan. as at that time where ever i strike conversation with total strangers, the topic is the same - teach umno a lesson.
Wow ! Your words may prove prophetic !
ReplyDeleteLike many Malaysians, I woke up & I have been an interested observer of both sides since GE2008 tsunami and I must say I truly enjoy reading your blogs for the insights. Your analysis has been very refreshing, coming from an UMNO man. Brutally honest, I must say. But will UMNO big guns want to listen ? Or are they pretending to listen ? That is the Multi-BILLION-dollar question, right ?
My main guess is UMNO takkan berubah, despite all the rhetoric about change and adapting to the new world by DS Najib. Think 1Malaysia ... who in UMNO seriously buy into it ? Don't u think it is just for show only ? To show support for Najib because he coined it and he is the PM (in fact, while he is PM ! Look what happened to slogans coined by Tun Abdullah, eg Islam Hadhari. Really, who talks about it nowadays. Swept into obscurity because it is the old "fad". The new buzz word is "1Malaysia". Siapa percaya ? Only the non-Malays like me lah ! But when I see UMNO people behaving otherwise, I see the disconnect.
Pity DS Najib who is trying his very best, but has his hands tied.
Grand inspiring vision, but cannot implement. What's the point ?
You know why UMNO people will not listen to you ? It is because majority in UMNO believe that it is not to be blamed for the loss in support for the GE. Those who lost big-time, are its other component parties and even until now, UMNO power-brokers still NAIVEly blame them for not being able to garner support from their own community.
UMNO, on the other hand, feels they have done their best and managed to do pretty well (ie. Malay support is still strong for UMNO. Eg. Johor etc) So, kenapa nak berubah ? Nanti salah pulak kalau pakai strategi salah ! Lose Malay support & $$$. Akan padan muka kalau salah. Make sure take care of the fixed deposit, right ?
Remember some investment gurus who foresee doom but people are busy enjoying the ride until it is too late ?
Hope UMNO will listen to you soon
and not when this country has truly turned its back on UMNO, then baru nak dengar advice anda.
A bit late by then, don't you think ?

Dato,
ReplyDeleteYour intention of stirring the hornet's nest by writing on Anwar is not lost on your readers, so please do not think that you have achieved your objective. Your modus operandi was very clear from the beginning.
The fact is despite whatever conclusions you are sending out to your UMNO leaders following the fast and furious comments from pro-Anwar commentators, nothing will change because UMNO cannot and will never change. UMNO will continue to be arrogant and in self denial that they have or can reformed but their continuing smut campaigns and threats against right thinking politicians (whether pro-BN or opposition) says otherwise. As long as the elites in UMNO feel their golden rimmed rice bowls and titanium crutches threatened, everything in UMNO will remain status quo.
If the one and only God ordains that this is the end for BN and has written that a new captain will navigate the ship towards the harbor, will you accept it? Or will you kick and struggle?
ReplyDeleteWhy not write...
"[I]f tomorrow Saiful admits that he lied about the sodomy..."
" We shall show that he has to take this strategy because its self serving. "
ReplyDeleteAnwar is a politician, for crying out loud. Of course he has to be self-serving, otherwise why should he be a politician, and a good one at that.
Being able to take an issue to be self-serving and at the same time bring along your true-believers with you is what is called "having charisma"
Still, the issue of leadership of Anwar, his style and credentials, is not addressed
"Does the BN (meaning UMNO) government want self perpetuation or self renewal?"
ReplyDeleteUMNO will not be able to answer this question because not many in UMNO know the difference between 'perpetuation' and 'self renewal'? All they know and want is to remain in power, by hook or by crook.
And for most UMNO members what is the best strategy for remaining in power? From my observations, threaten to go amok and start a bloodbath. Ordinary UMNO members do so very crudely, lower rung leaders do so less crudely and their upper echelon leaders do it with a little subtlety.
You just hit the nail on the head. But who is listening? Certainly not Umno. You may notice that most of us who read your articles are opposition supporters. And that's because you make a lot of sense to us. Umno is too blinded by their greed for money and power. They are their worst enemy, not the opposition. It's not that we don't care what Anwar did or accused of doing. Compared to what Najib is accused of doing, Anwar is like Mother Teresa. But he's our only hope to put a stop to a government that is bend on destroying the country through their greed. My personal question to you is, what the heck are you doing in Umno? It's like running into a brick wall, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHey y'all
ReplyDeleteHappy days are here again.
Hehe, I can't stop laughing.
Sak is back to being bijak, smart, prophetic.
Ooh the shallow, superficial minds. Syok sendiri just like the person you annointed as Dear Leader.
Wah, sebut Anwar melenting. Kutuk kerajaan aduh bagus bangat.
Carry on. I am enjoying a ring-side seat as spectator of this circus show.
I am like Ahmad Nisfu who is being tested by P. Ramli in Madu Tiga, or is it Tiga Abdul.
Marah, ask P.Ramlee. Tak. Suka sangat anakanda. said Nisfu.
I cant afford to have too much orgasms, or else will end up with burst capillaries.
Thank you Sak, while it lasted.
WZWH
Betul kata Sak. Kita keturunan Mat Kilau tak main jampi-jampi ni.
