A few days ago I wrote an essay rebutting Vell Paari's claim that UMNO is behind moves to oust Samy Vellu. My arguments were directed to his accusations regarding UMNO. On the issue of Samy Vellu and his position in MIC, it's not anybody else's business other than those who elected him president.
UMNO has no interest in MIC's internal affairs. The UMNO president should not succumb to invitations for him to solve MIC's problems. Those disgruntled MIC members think this is a Sentul gang fight or what? How is he expected to do that? By asking Samy Vellu to go? The UMNO president will be more diminished if he does that.
If he does that, he will be seen as condoning an extra constitutional measure to eject a properly elected president of another party. UMNO members, who conspire with MIC elements to throw out Samy that way, are also practicing undemocratic means. You eject or accept your party member through the proper means. It's not the place of UMNO members to be accomplices in this kind of politics. This is a New Malaysia supported by a New UMNO.
Mugilan and his gang should work with MIC members and force an EGM, if that is possible. MIC members themselves must take up the nightstick to accomplish that. Isn't there a provision in their party constitution allowing them to call for an EGM? That is a better avenue other than resorting to extra-constitutional way to bump off your own democratically elected party president. You are asking the UMNO president to disrespect democratic process. It's not our business to bother if you elect a goon, or a bully, a saint, a yogi as your president.
UMNO has too many of that kind among its rank to take up more problems.
The core of the present problem is the issue of Samy Vellu. It's no business of ours really if he intends to stay for another 20 years. It's his party and his presence affects Malaysian Indians. Samy has ample wisdom to assess his relevance and presence. MIC loses its relevance once it loses its credibility with Malaysian Indians. Once that happens, it's opened for UMNO as BN chief to do as it pleases with MIC. It can for example eject MIC as member of the BN. But on the issue of what it can do to Samy Vellu, it doesn't have any standing to do that. MIC members have that right.
It's better for MIC to focus on regaining its eminence and trust. It has 700,000 members and yet managed to secure or persuade only 179,000 people to vote for BN? I know, MIC members are not concentrated in any particular voting areas, but to be able to get this measly number means, in places where a BN component party stood, MIC was incapable of persuading its members residing there to vote BN.
Maybe it's a good idea to accept MIC's threat to leave BN. T Mohan may be playing poker. Lets engage him.
The principal behind the movement to oust Samy is one Mugilan who was nearly selected as candidate in Hulu Selangor. He has started a group called Gerakan Anti Samy- or GAS. We hope it's not just that – a lot of GAS. He has booked as venue, the PWTC hall to invite all those against Samy to be present. The plan is to escalate pressure on Samy to resign by showing that many Malaysian Indians are just fed up of Samy Vellu as MIC leader.
Mugilan is no longer an MIC member. The manner by which he was thrown out may be most disagreeable and reprehensible, but that is the constitutional provision of the MIC party. Good or bad, is entirely another matter and the people wishing to have them changed, because it confers excessive executive powers to the MIC president are the MIC people themselves.
Which brings us to the rights of the MIC members. The only people who can oust Samy are the MIC members. If they want to reject him, they must do so in the proper forum in accordance to their party's constitution. So what Mugilan wants to do, being no longer an MIC member, not in a proper forum, not by MIC members will amount to nothing.
All it will show, is, there is much dissension within MIC. A divided MIC will stand no chance to earn the respect of Malaysian Indians. A rejected MIC is of no value to BN. Allow them to leave and let them rejoin when its house is in order.
Salam Dato'
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what's wrong with the political parties in Malaysia!
Like UMNO baru, It became the MAN who had been making sure that It would be. Being the MAN he is, so did the Country become. Now of course his son would be Its natural choice. It's all in the DNA.... MAN, Party, Country and so will be the Son!
So has Taib's Sarawak/and Sarawak/ Sarawak again .... and Samy Vellu's Ministry of Works/Ministry of Energy & Telecomms./Ministry of Works again/ Ministry of E&T again...
As discussed in your previous posting, we must re-learn on how to choose our leaders!
To Finland perhaps, where their leaders/governments are not allowed to take anything on leaving office except their good record of service.
Mugilan no longer MIC member, what ever he did, not reflect to any BN component. That fact, i didnt see anything wrong on behalf any BN component. It useless to point finger, the only thing in my mind, "Why PWTC that belong to BN/UMNO allow their 'house' to promote Mugilan GAS?". It equal to "UMNO/BN is trying to ousted Samy. Indirectly it is a form of support the GAS.
ReplyDelete...SMDB'ian....
Yep. We are not interested in MIC's internal affairs. We don't care whether Samy sink or swim. Neither do we care if MIC wants to leave BN. Small party, big problem.
ReplyDeleteBut we do mind they dragging UMNO ito their fiasco. As expected, Samy Vellu has denied involvement in his son's statement blaming UMNO. Baling batu sembunyi tangan ke???
Mugilan too has shown the receipt that he booked PWTC hall for GAS. It's proof UMNO is not involved.
But it bothers us that Samy wants more parliamentary seats, more senators, more cabinet post, with one for Palanivel a must.
A possible Tunship too for him I guess, just like Sambanthan.
It will definitely upset the BN apple-cart. If there's justification, it's fine. But look at their dismal record in 2008.
For me, Samy is good for a laugh. It's okay if MIC keeps him for national entertainment.
Last night's interview on TV3 cap it all. I was laughing my ass off the floor by his remarks. It's all about him and his heroic deeds to the Indians.
The most laughable is when he said: "Kalu saya berenti, Subra (his erstwhile enemy) pun mesti berenti juga.'
When it was pointed out that Subra was not President but only a division head, he replied: "Ya, tapi dia mesti berenti. Dia lagi dulu dari saya jadi Timbalan Menteri. Saya 44 tahun kerja kuat, tapi lambat naik, tak macam dia."
Wakaka. Such infantile and skewered reasoning. My chuckle of the week.
My Indian neighbor sums it all when he talks about Samy.
Ptuh, he spits.
GAS the vellu. This is the only thing that counts. Samy vellu need to be vaporised whether by constitutional or non-constitutional means.

ReplyDeleteYes, PWTC belongs to UMNO.
But anyone including you can rent the hall.
It's solely business. Do you want it to be a white elephant?
You mean Mugilan cannot rent it because he is anti-Samy?
You sound like Samy Vellu talking.
Datuk,
ReplyDeleteAku ni bukanlah seorang ahli politik atau berminat dengan politik tapi apa yang sedang berlaku dalam MIC dan hubungkaitnya dengan UMNO worth my comments.
Sapalah Mugilan ni sangat sampai nak pukoi towkaynya sampai mampuih? UMNO Hulu selangor dulu hendak dia jadi calon tapi Samy V kata NO.
salam Datuk.
Aiyoyo Samy,
ReplyDeleteAiyaya Mugilan,
Hidup atau mati MIC tak penting lagi,
Sebab kamu dah tak 'relevant' lagi.
U need not be a rocket scientist to see the relationship bet. UMNO & MIC.
ReplyDeleteIn an atmosphere as described by Najib,..."you scratch my back and I scratch yours" its rather stupid for those UMNO goons to deny their involvement to get rid of Samy Vello. And we as observers, UMNO n MIC are playing drama fit for 1Malaysia RTM.
Dato',
ReplyDeleteCould you talk about this nonsense that the Government is spending RM 73 billion on subsidies. Its absolute rubbish - that is keep being echoed by politicians. One of the fans of one the best commentators here may have disclosed that this not true unless the Government considers
- Pensions to Govt staff as subsidy
- Debt payment for mega project as subsidy (siapa kata we actually have finshed paying off KLIA, ERL, Kompleks Sukan Negara and others)
- Debt payment on Govt debt as subsidy
- Payments to universities who have negative return by virtue of their slipping rankings as subsidy
- Corporatization as subsidies
- Natural gas subsidized fuel to industries as subsidy
- IPP as subdies
The list goes on.
Sorry quiet despair,
ReplyDeleteIndirectly your are saying, you never ask what your friend going to do when they 'rent' your 'house'. hmm quit good habit. Patut la MIC got a good reason to blame UMNO. Semua buat kerja tak fikir habis2. Just think about RM-RM, right or wrong, it another story. Kesian, still not change your mentality. Bawa-bawa berubah la kelaku tu.
...SMDB'ian....
Red alfa,
ReplyDeleteThe main issue here is Vel Pari's ascerbic comment on UMNO. That upsets UMNO.
I may have some comment on UMNO but I believe Vel Pari is rude by saying such thing. and naive too. Considering that MIC is as good as "dinosour" among Indian comminity, Vel Parri chose to insult the very party that supports MIC all these years.
Without UMNO's support, MIC will not be able eve to win a single seat. And that goes to MCA and Gerakan. These 2 Chinese based parties are afraid to tell the truth to chinese community that the only reason UMNO has more influence is due to its having the lion share of seats won by BN.
As for Samy Vellu, hopefully good sense prevail. Do not turn MIC into Sdn Bhd Co.

ReplyDeleteAw come on we are not talking about renting our house. We are talking about renting a hall.
I must stress PWTC is run by a separate entity and not UMNO.
It's in charge of the maintenance of the building but also the amenities there.
Like other venues, you want to rent, you can rent it.
If Samy Vellu wants to rent also, he can.
Better if Mugilan rent Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, Aya rent Dewan Tun Tun Razak. Lantakla, biar depa bertempur.
Find some oher valid reason to blame UMNO, okay.
Bro
ReplyDeleteLet's stop kidding ourselves that UMNO did not in the past and does not now have significant influence over what happens in MCA or MIC.
The recent Govt/UMNO/BN award of a FREE betting licence by which Vincent Tan became richer overnight by over $500 million at the stroke of a pen is clear evidence of a quid pro quo arrangement that exists in this murky, cosy political banding. Many will recall a 2005 or 2006 birthday bash for Mahathir by Berjaya Group, attended too by Najib and Rosmah while Badawai was nowhere to be seen!!!!!
So too is the case with UMNO and MIC vis-a-vis by-election at HS where news of Palanivel's negotiated Senatorship and a tabled Tun-ship for Samy was leaked on the same day of the
offers!!
But as far as most M'sian Indians are concerned, they don't care 2 hoots if UMNO is manipulating the ouster of Samy or not.
We just want Samy to FO by yesterday, by hook or by crook!!
dpp
we are all of 1 race, the Human race
MIC MEMBERS TAK GUNA LAH. MANA YOU ORANG PUNYA BALLS. SAMY VELLU SUDAK POTONG AND MAKAN LAH....
ReplyDeleteYou morons elect him, you kick him out lah....
An MIC Youth bureau chief claimed that he was told by sacked party leader G Kumar Amman that Umno was financing the Gerakan Anti-Samy Vellu (GAS) campaign.
ReplyDeleteT Magenthiran said this information was relayed to him during a telephone conversation with the sacked central working committee (CWC) member last week.
Kumar and another CWC member KP Samy were given the boot on Monday for openly backing former MIC Youth deputy chief V Mugilan, who was sacked last week.
Mugilan, who is said to be close to Umno leaders, is the driving force behind GAS which is to be launched this Sunday at the Putra World Trade Centre here, which incidentally also houses the Umno headquarters.
Meanwhile, Magenthiran claimed that Kumar had called him last Thursday to convince him to join GAS.
“He told me that Umno is fully backing GAS and that the party has given RM3 million for the campaign, so there is no reason to be afraid,” he was quoted as saying by Tamil Nesan, which is owned by MIC president S Samy Vellu's family.
Magenthiran said he rejected the offer, and told Kumar that he will remain loyal to the party leadership.
The MIC Youth leader said he believes that Kumar has been conveying the same message to other members in a bid to lure them into GAS.
“I don't know if there is any truth to his claim, but Umno must explain,” he added.
(these are claims from one mouth to another, what say U datuk?)
Dato
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the notion of doing things the right and proper way.But sadly though its easier said than done., especially if its in politics and at workplace
You are right in asking the mugilan guy to use the proper channel to accomplish his mission in kicking out his ex-boss.TAPI dato, it would never happen. The guy would be soon facing brickwall.
Just ask the rakyat who wanted a fair election in malaysia, a a host of other normal rakyat malaysia who wanted a change and wanted their voice to be heard.Tapi ada brickwall. Why put it up? who ordered it to be put up?

Mugilan said he's not having GAS at PWTC but at another venue.
This was after calls to PWTC were made by "uneducated, uncivilised, people who are very afraid."
So is UMNO to be blamed again?
Dr Mahathir wants Vel fairy to furnish proof of UMNO behind the proposed ousting Of Aya.
He again called for Aya to resign.
Subramaniam accepted the challenge for Samy to quit as head of Seputeh division.
He gave Samy one week to quit, and he will follow suit.
"Tak guna cakap mahu berhenti tahun depan, tahun akan datang tahun berikutya.
"Saya boleh resign dan Samy yang cabar saya mesti juga resign." he said.
Now Samy, still cowardly staying on?
It's Subra who should have been President but Samy played him out.
Saudara Donplaypuks,
ReplyDeleteUMNO has the influence, no doubt about it. As the most senior party in BN, naturally it has more say than other parties.
why? Simple as A, B and C. UMNO has the most number of seats in BN.
In contrast to MCa, MIC or gerakan , UMNNO can claim that it is able to garnner sizable support among Malay community.
It is an open secret that MCa, MIC and Gerakan would have been wiped out if not for their alliance ith UMNO.
There is nothing to be embarassed about it. UMNO earns the influence through the ballot box. That is the reason why when MCa or MIC have internal problems there would be calls for PM to intervene.
UMNO does not have to use unethical way to oust Samy. The Malay voters in Sungai Siput rejected him, resulting in him losing the seat.
Upset that Hindraf accused UMNO of conducting genocide against the Indians, Malay voters punished MIC Candidates. That is the reason why in Kulim, Port Dickson, Hulu selangor, Kota raja, Indian candidates( represented by MIC) lost to PKR candidates who happened to be Malays.
The saga in MIC is due to Samy's refusal to accept reality that he overstays the welcome.
It has nothing to do with UMNO. UMNO had already done their parts when Malays rejected him in Sungai siput.
As for MIC politicians, I foresee a bleak future on them. Having secured minimum votes from Indian communities due to Samy's presence, now they have to bear the consequence of Samy Junior outburst, thus angering the very community that provides life support to MIC; that is UMNO.
Dato
ReplyDeleteLet Samy vellu and his kuncu/family keep their MIC post till they rot.
I've lost count the number of Indian based parties in BN to look after their welfares.
and I don't see Samy's MIC is one of them.
Frankly.i don't think the indians gives a damn what you think.umno has always been the "tulang belakang" of bn,umno calls the shots in every policy.mic and mca can only show they are independent outside but inside, either follow umno words or pay for consequence for not following.
ReplyDeleteSo,please stop this "umno is a boyscout party" no one buys it.!
