Framing the Questions.

How to defend UMNO among the electorate when the party accepts as Ketua Pemuda, a person who was found guilty by the UMNO Disciplinary Board? How do we defend UMNO when its DB is not consistent? In the case of Isa Samad, he was stripped as member for 3 years and had to resign as MB. In the case of Ali Rustam, he was only barred from contesting the Deputy President's post? And he gets to keep the CM's post.

The answers to these questions will depend on how the questions are asked and who is doing the asking. If you were to ask Tan Sri Sanusi Junid whose son failed to secure a place and Pemuda exco, he will phrase the question so as to get the answers he wanted. He wants answers that fortify his own misgivings on the credibility of the UMNO disciplinary board.

The board has certain facts submitted before them. It decides the issues before them based on facts. Hence, the outcome of their findings is distinguished on account of the facts before them. It cannot decide the outcome based on extraneous factors not convertible to facts. The facts surrounding Isa Samad must have been different from Ali Rustam.

As to KJ being the ketua Pemuda, why should the question be framed in such a manner? If one is sincere, he can always answer the question by saying that UMNO is ready and willing to submit its own members to an exhaustive assessment of his/her credibility. The fact is that KJ has been found guilty and PUNISHED by being given a warning. Yet despite the blight on his character, he managed to win. That is the fact now.

The punishment in the form of a warning is merited on the ground of the facts surrounding the allegations about him. It was based on some claims (before he announced his candidacy) that KJ has been instrumental in giving people funds and projects.

Why do we need to continue defending KJ? The need arises because the unrepentant jury is still out there to lynch him. The need arises also because a victory over doubters must be won over and over again.

  1. AND STILL YOU FAILED TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS ASKED IN THE FIRST PARAGRAPH... why ? because the unrepentant jury is still out there to lynch him... and these juries are not in the form of sanusi junid or mahathir....

IT'S THE FORM OF MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE.. THE VOTERS WHO ARE NOT UMNO MEMBERS...

frame that question from these juries' point of view instead of just sanusi's....

have reached the answer yet? the bare fact is, he was guilty of money politics. defend that...

dont be so naive in thinking all kj haters are within umno... if you are then you are really blind...

  2. kj was punished after given a warning????? kihihihihi kelakarnya.. dah bersalah tuuuu... kena warn aje.. boleh bertanding lak tu!

even after being warned, dia masih bagi duit kat perwakilan..

malam sebelum mengundi tu lebih 100 perwakilan dia sogok... masih tak sedar diri.. warning kebenda... menang pun sbb pak lah.. tak kena gantung pun sbb pak lah.. kah kah kah. tak malunya. belakang, kata dia menang sbb kekuatan sendiri. kah kah kah. ada ka mcm tu.

yg peliknya, prokj masih sokong kj walaupun tahu perkara ni betul.. hai.. heran heran.. huhuhuhu

  3. nobody says the juries are in the form YOU said them to be.
now, since when are you the spokesman for the voters out there? they dont care two hoots about the leadership in UMNO- UMNO to them is one homogeneous enemy. they dont differentiate UMNO into KJ and non KJ.
i thought sanusi was quoted by me as saying something regarding the treatment of Ali Rustam? where did i quote him on saying something on KJ? are you doing a voice over as Sanusi?

WHY are you all so blind and biased??

This will be ur undoing. Politicians are all the same.
And wuts worse are the blogging politians. They have conscience, but too much pride gets in the way.
Especially the ones trying to regain power and relevance through KJ. Sometimes their

We can also see this crudeness in their blogs. Sadly this blog has become crude like its other kj compatriots.

Who is defending KJ? Most of the UMNO grassroots do not & a notable number of leaders do not. Defending a known tainted clown? Definitely not except for some donkeys. You can bury the carcass of an elephant but you can't certainly hide it. We can smell the rot. So to your question - the unrepentant jury is still out there to lynch him, we still smell the rot. It's not only money politics, sir, but many other issues involving KJ and Dollah.

    Walaubagaimanapun....

Saya rasa Melayu ni punya sikap yg masih menghormati. Negara kita belum lagi macam negara2 yg lain yg teramatlah suka memberontak.

Cuma, bila pemilihan nanti bersedialah utk keluar. Org dah tak pangkah, Yg menjadi kehairanan ramai org, mengapa setelah ramai pun tak suka, dia masih ada di situ juga. Ini yg menjadi persoalan.

Mungkin saya patut kata, Marilah kita berbaik sangka dan mengatakan takda unsur2 tak sihat langsung. Ini penting untuk parti dan rakyat. Rakyat patut berbaik sangka. Saya pun setuju.

A decision by people is a decision, mereka mau KJ keluar.

Buktikan erti setiakawan itu to those ppl u have preach.

People would appreciate the setiakawan tagline. Berani berubah rite?

    Dato Sak,
Actually the whole system in UMNO are fucked up by everybody there including the Disciplinary Committee.
Khairy's misfit in UMNO is nothing compared to DS Najib's affairs.
Disciplinary Committee is just created to hinder certain people to rise and to enhance the chance of the likened ones to rise.
This country is already a fucked up country.
Members of the D Committee are also corrupted and so does everyone.
Please ignore UMNO and don't support that party anymore.
They are just a bunch of uncharacteristic characters and to keep them away, just forget about UMNO.
Please stop this polemics and just think of another party.
My family meeting days ago have decided to leave UMNO and let evryone else does the same.

  30. Hi Dato',
Thinking and believing in irrational points of view is part of the human pscyhe. For example, if one were to conduct a poll in the USA, perhaps 20 million would still believe that Elvis Presly is still alive.

Their arguments are stale, and indeed it must be frustrating to try and win them over, but some of them just do not want to accept it. Truth is, they have been told that the polemics in UMNO is down to KJ and cannot accept anything else. They must be proven right.

We proved them wrong when KJ won after so many had commented that this was a lost cause, KJ was down, ya da ya da. So now, they will react by questioning his victory.

Trying to pin them down is sometimes trying to press down on water. Their positions change, their view completely flexible, they have no backbone.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Fully agreed with Anak Jati Pahang. UMNO, and more widely BN, have long expired their shelf-lives in their current version.

Dato' Sak, please create that new party of competent and uncorrupted leaders and take the very few principled leaders BN has left. I am thinking Shahrir Samad, Ku Li, et al.

We shall see if Anak Jati Pahang and I are wrong if BN wins any of the 7 April PRK. Even one victory should be considered an unexpected surprise. Anyone remembers only a few months back when BN would win ANY PRK?

    ReplyDelete
  32. KJ's elevation is only a sympton of much more deeply rooted didaese that is at the core of UMNO.

If like Dr.M you hypocritically look only at technicality, then you will harp on KJ and question the double standard in dealing with Ali Rustam.

But if you look at substance over form, then half of UMNO including several in the Cabinet will have to go as well.

Does anyone in Malaysia really think that 2M is a trustworthy person fit enough to be a No.2 in UMNO or the future DPM that he should have been nominated for this post?

    What about that rAPid lady?

What UMNO needs is a total clean up and revamp. Who will bell the cat?

In the interim KJ is where he is because Dr.M started the Machiavellian style of politics in 1981 and he is the one we should get rid of first!

  44. Dato

I have congratulated you immediately after the KJ win.

You raised the question of how to defend UMNO in relation to the DB etc. But shouldn't the question be how do we get UMNO to tackle money politics and corruption by the horn? How do we get the political will to do so considering the monstrosity of the problems?

Once we have answers to these questions then UMNO can go to the voters and assure them that UMNO would change, that mmethod of running the Government would change, that the people would be properly looked after. A few commentators have said that they resigned UMNO membership, even voted PR, because of money politics and corruption.

I'm very interested in your views about these Dato. You have considerable insight into the workings of UMNO at HQ, State, Division and Branch levels, you know the extent of money politics and corruption and I believe you are not corrupt. I don't have the close contacts to even know the RM 2,000 and RM5,000 that were mentioned as being used in the recent election. I don't have the analytical mind to sieve out the facts from the fancies, study the statements by leaders, DB and others, pick out the fallacies and point out the truths and half truths and write a piece on how to get the political will, and hope that you would.

If there is no political will to rid money politics and corruption, instead only "melepaskan batuk di tangga", the whole cycle of corrupt practices would appear again and again: inconsistent DB decisions, non-transparent decision making, lack of respect for DB, those with money politics/ corruption complaints standing for elections, those found guilty still elected to important posts, the kind who brought RM2.4 million cash into Australia still hoping to be PM of Malaysia, etc, etc.

I know you have written about reality and perception. I will be very sad if and when Malaysia is not only perceived but known by the entire world as being led by people like Zadari of Pakistan.

Your mention of one member one vote and the doing away with the nomination quota should be repeated and the idea promoted time and again.

I am sad that not many of the commentators speak about money politics and corruption, though some mention them: it gives the impression that money politics and corruption have become the norms of behaviour, the adat resam among Malays.

Your posting about the non-corrupt Pahang MB drew only 6 comments. Nobody writes asking the new President and incoming PM to carry out a campaign against money politics and corruption, especially when the general remarks he made on the subjects didn't appear to match the magnitude of the problems.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would do the piece stated above. I think many others would too.
