What is to be done? the ketua Pemuda post.

Leadership.

Leadership isn't just about passing a big piece of legislation. For that matter its not about dishing out a slogan- dare to change of setiakawan or whatever. Khir Toyo doesn’t have a clarion call- his is just the pragmatic assertion of wanting to win back lost ground. Ok, we can live with all that. But how?

Because leadership is also about explaining and thereby gaining trust and confidence from a public -- including UMNO public -- that's otherwise afraid and confused. A credible and powerful explanation is necessary right now -- about where we've been, how we got into this mess( losing so many states, losing ground with Malay voters , and how a particular plan (if they have thought of one), will get us out of it.

And so like the old lady in the burger king ad, I ask- where’s the beef? All contenders for the ketua pemuda post have proven themselves uniquely unable to explain anything to anyone. The outgoing KP, the ever grinning Hummer lover Hshamudin Hussin , for his part, is hopeless and hapless. Worse than a lame duck, he's a seriously disabled parakeet, with no remaining store of public trust. Mukhriz Mahathir, shy and reticent ( about willing to debate) seems like an able fellow but his capacity to communicate is almost as bad as his predecessor's. Khir Toyo and even KJ or KJ’s people are too busy pointing fingers of blame to be capable of explaining much of anything and summoning confidence. Thus we see KT’s boys demonising TDM and KJ’s people doing the same.

And fewer than 4 months before the UMNO election, all candidates are inevitably caught up in intra-party wrangling.

The leadership vacuum could not happen at a worse time. If UMNO’s collective wisdom remain frozen, we'll soon witness a huge round of internal strife and implosion. We're in completely uncharted terrain. That spells trouble for the incoming UMNO president and PM. and so like Lenin, a long time ago, DS Najib askes the question that Lenin put out to his comrades…What is to be done?

  2. Salam Datuk,

Lenin asked that question in a form of pamphlet to his nation regarding about Russian economy at the turn of the 20th century.

As the result, he coined the term - Commanding Heights and developed Russian's New Economic Policy in the 20's.

I believe, if he hadn't died prematurely, and Stalin would not have reversed the socialist policy, Russian would have been a much greater nation than the US in the next 50 years after that. But that is only my guess.

Anyway, sorry to digress. Najib should take the same approach - Commanding Heights. But not without employing the best and HONEST / SINCERE people around. Tough task ahead. Maybe I am too idealistic.

You had said it appropriately. Najib needs to ask 'What is to be done?' And what is more important, he should ask the correct people.

    Thank you.

    JMD-

  3. Thank you for quoting me in your last article. I am truly honoured.

Yes, akarumbi and you got it right it but majority still seems to be confused... and there lies the problem in democracy where majority rules.

Yes, you got it right again in this article. It is all about performance based (trend monitoring)leadership whereby fardhu kifayah has much bigger influence than fardhu ain.

True leaders need to take the battle beyond blogs and we need to find a common objective failing which it can lead to 5Ms: i.e Miscommunication > Misunderstanding > Misalignment > Miss the objectives > and if we are not careful, we shall Miss the soru' (for eg. we should take the Bukit Antarabangsa incident not as ujian but as a bala)

  4. The only redeeming factor for Hishamuddin is being Najib's cousin and having a beautiful wife.
Is that why he's on top of the lists for VP?
