Sakmongkol wrote an article titled elegant silence, a death wish? One of the comments sakmongkol received was the above.
If sakmongkol were mean, he would say such an answer would be a typical one expected from Najib’s press secretary. Just like- abih, nak jawab macam mana? You know the officious but grey matter lacking answer type.
Before we continue. A typical answer from Najib’s SUA would reflect the typical training he received from the government. This quality immediately makes sakmongkol reflect on the story of Men in Black- where a group of hopefuls plus the character played by Will Smith ( agent J) were interviewed as prospective agents. After going through the aptitude tests and other tests on intelligence, the head of the interview program, Chief Zed said to the government jocks- thank you gentlemen. You are what we expected after years of government training.
The job as the other man in black of course went to the character played by Smith.
For Dato NAJIB’s sake, we hope he does not have an SUA of this calibre. Mampus!.
On the other hand, Sakmongkol will stand by his demand, that Dato Najib, if he has such a SUA( setua usaha akhbar) he should consider sacking him/them.
Sakmongkol will now attempt to respond to the other part of his snootish and derisive comment- if you are smart, tell me how.
Sakmongkol has read the transcripts of the smses reproduced by several bloggers. Assuming those were true, and Najib appears to confirm that those smses were true, then our reasoning will be as follows:-
Taken as a whole, the conversations appeared to be a genuine concern on the plight of a friend. Yes, sakmongkol is pissed of with the Razak baginda types; the hangers on who got into the good books of Najib and thereafter benefited from many good deals. Sakmongkol is even angrier knowing that this joker who wormed his way into Najib’s affections travels in his BMW X-5 while Sakmongkol travels around in his pick up truck. Damn him.
After all is said and done, he is Najib’s friend. Sakmongkol cannot decide who Najib wants to have as his friend. Just as we cant nail Anwar for selecting Nala as a tennis companion. Even if he is one who went to ordinary London Polytech and masqueraded as a serious intellectual. Yes, among the village people who saw Razak Baginda as an intellectual of course include the pliant Jocelyn Tan plus others in Utusan
Now what does a friend do when you are in serious trouble and serious trouble is an understatement in the case of this Baginda joker? You will try to find ways to ameliorate his pains, find ways how you can assist him, so long as what you do are not UNlawful.
What you have at the moment, are the un-pious wishes of many people, especially from the opposition, who wish to impute some guilt and wrongdoings on Najib’s part. Sakmongkol finds it strange finding himself having to defend Najib who has been the object of his ballistics for some time. Alas, he has to do this because of the bald stupidity and mental stupor of his paid but castrated attack dogs.
So, Najib’s conversation with the lawyer who is an ex 4th Collegian at University Malaya who has since become a formidable trial lawyer, can also be looked as an attempt by a friend to help another friend in dire need. That should be a better answer, than just abih, nak jawab macam mana? Dolt! Stupido!
Thus, the conversations revealed the principle of friendship there. Loyalty to a friend. Sakmongkol would certainly want that kind of loyalty to be around if he finds himself in trouble.
Further illustration to be taken as object lesson by anonymous:-.
Sometime ago, sakmongkol wrote an article on Dato Fauzi Abdul rahman. He was an ex deputy minister, and UMNO man, came from a family of UMNOans. He is also Anwar’s friend from his MCKK days. He has since joined PKR.
Why didn’t he desert Anwar even after an encounter with Tun Mahathir? Because he remains loyal to a friend. And loyalty is a principle worth defending. It is a rare commodity in values- bereft UMNO.
Now, if the principle of loyalty is forthcoming from a person like Dato Fauzi Rahman, can’t we also expect the same from a person like Najib? Even sakmongkol has to admit, Najib must have some redeemable quality however much Sakmongkol wants to deny.
Surely then, if Anwar who was the beneficiary of Fauzi’s loyalty, surely he too can also now appreciate and understand the same principle being capable of coming even from an arch nemesis like Najib. Eh, Pak Sheikh? Cant he or he doesn’t want to?
So Najib, instead of giving a one liner answer must, in all seriousness, educate Anwar on the principle of loyalty and friendship. That would certainly show the calibre of the incoming PM and destroy the myth that all virtuous values are the monopoly of Anwar and his ilk?
So, anonymous rather than ranting like a mad man behind the close circuit TV in one of the rooms in the tower block of Parliament, please use the material between your two ears. And Sakmongkol is not referring to your bulbous nose. Capiche?
hahahahah! oops, denture falls onto lap; continue ..hahahahah!
ReplyDeletegreat one, o master of wit!
hahahahaha..my airmata keluarlah!Ketawa baca sak punya article and continue ketawa because I can imagine your dentures fell!Adoii!Sak ketawa sampai his sarong nak loreh!Betulker you pakai dentures?hahaha..
ReplyDeletebetul! oops, where are they now? hahahah! oops, now sarung loose! hahaha!
ReplyDelete..and..bulbous nose?!...hahahahah! ok ok out of breath..hahahahhah!
ReplyDeleteIf sakmongkol were mean, he would say such an answer would be a typical one expected from Najib’s press secretary. Just like- abih, nak jawab macam mana? You know the officious but grey matter lacking answer type.
ReplyDeleteThis part is a gem! HAHA!
To tell the truth, I have not read that post yet (I'm doing SO MANY things at once - would you believe it, I'm also reading a book AND doing its review while opening 10 tabs in the browser) But that's not too important with this one:-)
BTW I'll answer your reply about e-referrer and Windows Live Writer another time. Had seen it three hours ago but I can't spare the time right now.
It is a common political game that whenever the finish line draws closer, candidates can not seem to help themselves when it comes to dredging up any past scandal no matter how remotely they were connected. That’s the reason for hiring a good Setiausaha Akhbar which main function as we know is to provide advice on how to deal with the news media and helps his/her boss to maintain a positive public image and avoid negative media coverage.
ReplyDeleteWell in this instance the SUA has failed in his job to defend his boss especially during this Pak Lah’s internet democracy time where bloggers rule. Maybe the smart way for him is to ask blogger like you for a free opinion to defend Najib. What answer would you give sakmongkol? Go and fly kite..? (maybe)
mrgondol
mr gondol.
ReplyDeleteno mr gondol, sakmongkol will say, he wants a portion of the scorpene's commission, plus the gleaming x-5's and the porsche cayene he sees in the garrage... haha. the 5 series is for u.
mat cendana,
ReplyDeletedoing many things simultaneously means you are very smart, compared to some of najib's men who cant walk and chew gum at the same time.
but didn't the Malaysian surgeon general warned- that doing so many things at once, is perilous to one's health?
Ha ha ha- boy...Mat you are not in politics for nothing. Well thought through answers ... instead of stupid response like abih macam mana mahu jawab. Surely the SUA cannot be so naive as not to expect journalist to ask the 'dreaded questions but need to ask anyway' during the press conference? Instead of creating a good press statement for his boss, to deflect or to mitigate criticism, now Najib looks like an arrogant tyrant. It just goes to show the level of support NR has. There was every opportunity to come up tops but ill advised and probably low standard staffing, you see the man getting deeper and deeper into shit. Mat, your sort of reasoning is reasonable especially the bit about loyalty. I think at the end of the day, the rakyat (the silent majority?) can accept reason but the brush off 'abih...? is now more damaging than at least keeping quiet. Mat, yoiu better take over the SUA job lah.
ReplyDeleteLOL. ha ha...good one AK. really enjoyed this piece.
ReplyDeleteOnly trouble is I can't get Sinatra's "Send in the Clowns" out of my head after reading it.
"And where are the clowns?
There ought to be clowns.
Well, maybe next year."
laalaa lala
AK, you said somewhere that you reread Sherlock Holmes. Used to read a lot of Holmes when I was in First college and CSH.
ReplyDeleteI spotted an annotated Holmes, hard cover and with a box, going for less than 50 bucks at a bookshop (Excess books, I think)in Amcorp Mall. Planning to get my grubby hands on a copy later. Just thought you'd like to know.
doc a tabib.
ReplyDeletethanks. will be in kl this weekend. will certainly visit amcorp mall. my favourite holmes character is the one played by Basil Rathbone.
the hounds of the baskervilles is my all time favourite. liked too the character of lestrade and the man from the dark side- professor moriarty. thanks to walla for listing down a complete holmes biblio.
Sometimes the obvious is not easily acknowledged. Going thru the sms, it shows a concern for a friend in "deep shit". Any Joe public would do it, if his or her friend is in trouble esp with the police. Despite the 4th collegian's prodding RB has been charged and now facing trial. But these days with many spin doctors on the loose, they would even make an innocent baby being breast fed by a mother into a monstrous mother feeding "melanin" tainted milk to the baby by design!
ReplyDeleteStrange times indeed ! As for the SUA, NR appointed him so he has to live with him!
Secolian.
Sak,
ReplyDeleteActually Najib has a stack of standard answers and he has used the other one where he referred to the PM saying that there was no abuse of power. Personally I would prefer the classic answer as used bt the lawyer Lingam "Looks like my SMS, sound like me but it is not me" or something of that genre. Can't blame him since he hasn't been sleeping much lately.
@zawi
ReplyDeleteThis is one aspect that I intensely dislike - the "standard answers".
It's true that they help to prevent goofs and dramatically lessen the possibility that you'll put your foot to your mouth. But they also make you look like a fake.
I didn't like Dr M too much when he was the PM. But I do appreciate Tun saying what he thinks, despite the controversies that sometime ensue. Najib can't do this - he's "too slick", "having too many things to hide"...
