UMNO's own Saigon moment?

Many friends called me to ask what is a Saigon moment? It is an English idiom meaning a completely hopeless and lost situation. As in the fall of Saigon, towards the end, everything is destroyed and battles lost.

Now let us review our own version of a Saigon Moment.

  1. 2008 general elections UMNO fared very badly.
  2. the opposition juggernaut grows by leaps and bounds.
  3. Barely a few months, UMNO lost a crucial by election in Permatang Pauh.
  4. Fearing 16th September, UMNO sent 50 MPs on a vacation in Typhoon ravaged Taiwan. Luckily they left early or we could have to do more by-elections.
  5. The economy not doing well
  6. The component political parties with the ruling government of the day are at each other’s throats.
  7. Dissent is suppressed. The dreaded ISA is used.
  8. Rebellion within UMNO.
  9. The Planned power transfer is now suspect.
  10. Calls for the PM to resign grow by the day.
  11. Alliance between TDM and TRH was formed.
  12. UMNO is a house divided. The Dunkirk Spirit is absent.

The list is endless for anyone who cares to put any he thinks add to the whole sense of utter loss.

All right thinking UMNO members and delegates and leaders must do the right thing. End the pathetic Abdullah-Najib Leadership. Act before all is lost!
