Sinking of KD Najib

KD Najib listing

Dato Najib is gasping for political breadth. He is outflanked. He has been outmaneuvered by Muhyidin Yassin. Muhyiddin Yassin has managed to convinced Tun Mahathir to throw his lot behind Tengku Razaleigh. That is a political favour that Tengku Razaleigh will not forget. The Kelantan prince is a gentleman and his word is his honour. Sakmongkol has no doubts that Tengku Razaliegh has chosen Muhyidin as his running mate.

The biggest political capital that Muhyidin has is his resoluteness. He has said that he is willing to take the risks for having said that he thinks the power transfer plan between Pak Lah and the spineless Najib is too long. Muhyidin is already looking beyond Najib. His main agenda is to tell Abdullah in no uncertain terms, his days are numbered. Najib? He is a non entity already.

Fortitude and resoluteness are rare commodities among politicians. Najib has none of these. He is addicted to a life of pleasure and easy going ways. He prefers the easy life. TUn says that of him.

That is why he espouses and defends the notion of an UMNO ‘tradition’. A tradition he says, which equates honour and dignity to complete subservience to a predetermined hierarchical order.

Najib forgets that no such tradition exists. Except in his self interest laden mind. Secondly, his espousal of a notion of tradition is self serving because he is the beneficiary of the unquestioning loyalty of UMNO members.

Outflanked and outmaneuvered. He has lost the patronage of the most important figure in UMNO- Tun Mahathir. Despite being de-UMNOised, Tun Mahathir embodies what is UMNO.

Najib has none of the attributes of resoluteness and fortitude to show. What must he do? The only drift wood that can provide him with political buoyancy is endorsement by UMNO divisions. If he can get as many UMNO divisions as possible to send the message that they want him, he can still have a shot at the presidency.

But alas he has made a political faux pas. He has sounded out that it is best for UMNO divisions to confirm or repudiate the pact he made with Pak lah. Whereas when it was first expounded, he was among the first to support it citing it was accepted by the MKT too. Having made the bed, he must now lie on it.

Now, in an effort to counterbalance Muhyidin’s resourcefulness and vigor, he has to make some credible sounding noises to also suggest that he is also made of sterner stuff. But he is a poor carbon copy. That faux pas which is actually an effort to imitate Muhyidin serves only to further fortify Muhyidin’s standing.

So now, he has back paddled to his old position of upholding his imaginary notion of tradition. Didn’t Sakmongkol caution you, that he is a master of the political U-turn?. That’s turning over and over for you!

  1. Salam sir,

I agree that Najib had been outflanked. He has no choice but to stay and fight for number 2.

Tun is very decisive. Once he made his mind to endorse Ku Li, he will not change his mind.

Najib was left high and dry due to his own undoing. Ku Li made a very uncharacteristic move in getting help from Tun. Knowing how massive the egos of these two towering figures, it was no wonder that Sanusi Junid, who was there during the first meeting between Ku Li and Tun last week, had said it was indeed a historic moment.

It was the first time in over 30 years, Ku Li finally acknowledges the fact that Tun is slightly superior than him.

Erm I've heard ppl saying this and it's actually Rosmah who wants to be PM....

  4. jed,

seeing how lame he is, perhaps rosmah should have run for public office herself. :D

anyway i've said this before (in other blogs) and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, i'll repeat it here...

najib tun razak is the original poster of boy of nepotism.

if he wasn't his uncle's nephew and he wasn't the son of his father and his father didn't die in office, making it easy for the uncle to foist on a sentimental public najib's unproven greenhorn cushy a*se, would he be dpm today?

from his records, it appears that he did not have any work experience or any other experience worth spit before holding public office.

i think even that odious kj has some work experience before his convenient marriage.

now, here's somebody who shares my thinking, although i missed the chance to use the phrase, poster boy. i had used..the biggest beneficiary of political subsidies.

No, you're not sounding like a broken record at all. I haven't read that from you before - or anyone else for that matter.

It's fortunate that I've found this blog. I had often wondered why and how "people in Umno are so dumb as to want someone like Najib to replace Badawi"! I'm glad that I'm wrong with this, for there are indeed people who are pushing for a better person.

All is not lost yet for Umno!
